  1. As a devout Mormon, I resemble that remark In all seriousness, this is just another example of people being sheep, blindly believing what they're told by an authority figure simply because it's an authority figure saying it, and not stopping to think about why they're saying what they're saying.
  2. We've got a new temp and a new perm coming in the office tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see how they react to me, what with my dry-erase panel currently having Pinkie's cutie mark on it and my having an Electric Sky on my desk's shelf. I'm considering wearing my Rarity polo tomorrow, too.
  3. I was watching Fall Weather Friends earlier and it hit me. The defining videogame of the 4th generation of My Little Pony will be "MLP FiM: The Fifth Annual Iron Pony Competition"

    technology N/A

My player itself is set to 100%. All the time. With that being said, I have a pair of headphones with a volume dial on them, and that dial is how I mitigate damage to my ears.
  5. I'll start practicing; can you give me a brief overview of the KoRL's personality in this, maybe a couple of throwaway scenarios I can use to get into character with? Giving him the voice of Stanley the Plaid Tool amuses me.
  6. Honestly, as long as it's restricted to a subset of "Twilight can't solve X for us because she's out doing Y with Z", I'd be cool with it. And maybe one episode about the two of them getting together. But that'd be about it.
  7. If I became my favorite pony? I'd carry Sam's bags all the way to Moria, and threaten to go into Moria with him only to be set loose and sent back to Rivendell. Oh, you meant from FiM! Learn to fly, I guess.
  8. Lauren's busy with Wander Over Yonder, I don't think she'd have time to do anything meaningful with MLP at this point. The show being deliberately aimed at adults and airing on primetime? Not happening. MLP is still a toy franchise. Hasbro making show accurate toys? That would be awesome, but not something that they'd advertise. How would they even advertise it, anyway? "We're finally making toys that look like the characters from the show"?
  9. I've figured it out! Okay, not really, but still! The silliest thing I could think of was "Hasbro has decided to declare all the everything to be canonical", but having the fic that shall not be named simultaneously canonical with stuff like The Games We Play and Friends Have Benefits is kind of... well, actually completely impossible. But that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  10. For me, it would be depending on the weather. During the non-winter months I'd probably prefer to go au naturale, though I'd probably work with Rarity in order to have formalwear and winter wear. Not beg, but work for.
  11. Again, the point that I'm trying to make is that if we don't want them to assume the actions of a small group are typical of the whole, we shouldn't do that to them either.
  12. Reality check. We're already jumping the gun about what may only be one or two soccer moms and extrapolating that behavior onto them all. I thought we were the victims of rabid overgeneralizations and stereotyping here, not them.
  13. If I were stuck in Equestria as Golden Plate? I'd spend my day learning the history of Ponyville and its inhabitants, of course.
  14. I'm not sure if I would have given it a fair chance when I was younger or not. On the one hand, I jumped shamelessly into stuff like Powerpuff Girls and Sailor Moon. On the other hand, I was born in 1990, which was the height of the "Boys must be boys" advertising blitz.
  15. Most of my coworkers know, my immediate family knows, and a couple of people from church know. I have a Rainbow Dash polo that I used to wear about once a week to work (it has since shrunk into being a little too small, so it's now reserved for homewear and weekendwear), and I've ordered a much larger Rarity polo to go along with it. I keep an Electric Sky at my desk at work for when I need that little bit of cheer during a painful call. I've found that in the professional world, people don't really care one way or another as long as you're good at what you do. EDIT: With my family, it helps that I have (or rather, had) policies about when and how to watch Ponies - it was always with Headphones when my brother or sister was around. I since had to abandon that policy when I realized that my laptop does not like headphones very much.

    Experimentation

So our family recently got Netflix - I have an account (mine is the one we're putting on the Wii), and my dad has an account as well. My mom is into animation (not quite on the level that I am at, but she shows interest in a wide variety - mostly sci-fi, though), so I tried a little experiment. I started with Trigun. Then went to Fullmetal Alchemist (I got lucky here - it was the episode "Mother", which basically answered every question she had as it went along). Then I jumped into Pony. So far she's seen the second and third acts to Bridle Gossip, as well as most of Baby Cakes (she was out of the room for the third act due to dinner). She showed a degree of interest in all three. I think we may develop another pony fan over the next few months.
  17. 1) Favorite MLP episode(s)? A Dog And Pony Show, MMMystery on the Friendship Express, and Keep Calm And Flutter On 2) How often do you go back to watch the show? It depends on my mood. I'll have stretches where I won't want to watch it at all, and then I'll have stretches where it'll be the only thing I want to watch. 3) Do you do it in groups of episodes, a single, or marathon an entire season in one go? Most of the time I just do a couple episodes here or there, but if I'm in the mood for it and have the time for it, I'll marathon. 4) Favorite season? Season 2
  18. So every so often I get the voicing itch, and I make some random (or occasionally not so random) recordings. I lack the confidence and discipline to do this professionally, but I do so love to do it when I do. So, here's a quick rundown of what I've done so far: A short conversation between Nadaz and Malkariss A dialogue-only rendering of an update from Erfworld A couple of auditions for a project that got stalled As I do more I'll add them. I may even have music stuffs too, but they're not my primary focus (the forum wouldn't let me start this topic without a prefix, and Music was close enough for my purposes)
  19. Sure, Oleg ^^ My skype handle is Raekuul I'm okay with not having Gonzo, and I'm glad that you liked some of the other demos that I did. I just hope that we can pull this off well enough to entertain people
  20. Eh, I find long runners like Spongebob or The Simpsons to be largely hit-or-miss. In both cases, I largely enjoy the earlier seasons because nostalgia. And in both cases, the sheer volume of episodes that have been produced leads to the... I think it's the fallacy of means? There are just so many episodes out there that either they're memorable because we didn't enjoy them or... well, they're just not memorable anymore. Younger fans of the shows would probably like the episodes that aired more recently because they're more memorable to them. FiM, should it become a long-runner, will face the same problem. We'll remember the earlier episodes as being the good ones because we find them to be the most memorable. If FiM reaches ten seasons, the fans that are introduced to it in Season 10 are more likely to remember fondly episodes from it than they are seasons 1 and 2.
  21. No worries, Oleg ^^ This is your project. We'll find other ways to keep busy until you come back. Hey all the everybody that was interested in working on this: can we get a skype group going so that we can get used to each other? It might be fun to put together a few original "radio play" projects while Oleg's out of commission.
  22. Most of the people I interact with either ignore it because I'm good at what they ask me to do (currently I'm just a paper pusher at a bank, nothing big or anything) or just think it's a little strange. My boss used to watch earlier generations, but hasn't in years. My family for the most part doesn't care, mostly because they're happy I'm not doing porn or going out to bars and getting wasted or anything that would trash my... naivete, I guess. My siblings tease me on occasion, but nothing I can't handle. Especially since I'm pretty much paying for their lunches until dad's book gets moving.
  23. Personally, I think a southerner pirate would be funnier, but you're the director. What you say is what goes. For this first one, ignore the first half since that was done before I realized that you were wanting a less southern Gonzo. For this second one, it's the audition line again, but I'm trying to get it just right.
  24. It was very much spur-of-the-moment. I'll make sure to clean it up a lot more next time (though I use a headset and the only comp that I can record with is in a common part of the house) I could have gone on and done Ganon, but it's been a while since I've played the game (bad disc blah) and I didn't have any good ideas that could have reasonably been specific for him. And now we have a Pirate with a southern drawl. EDIT: I figured it would be funny if all Orca said was his name, like a Pokemon would. Here's a sample of something else I did, it's considerably cleaner but completely unrelated.
