  1. Call me crazy, but we should go faster -with proper oversight, both from peer review and from market review. First, if Graphene had been more known 4 years ago when it was discovered and tested with more financial backing, electronics would be much cheaper and smaller today. Second, the Google Glass system (from my perspective) is simply amazing, and it's already rumored to be released at the end of this year - Which is insane, considering that it is a simple graphic user HUD with minimal casing, and is usable by anyone who has vision. All those sci-fi dreams that were born in the 80s are now coming to life. Third - quantum computing has been achieved, though it was done with a very simple math problem. This means computing can be done at the atomic level and without the need for massive, dedicated systems such as the home PC or a supercomputer. Fourth - The Higgs boson was reportedly discovered last year. This supports the current String Theory and Membrane theory, which also have the probability of having alternative dimensions that are created and destroyed on a massive scale. As a researcher and a scientist, I believe science shouldn't be hindered, though I do believe it needs oversight. While Scientists and researchers must study previous, horrendous acts of cruelty in the scientific community (which is good - it teachers us and enforces what is immoral or wrong, as dictated by the Nuremburg Codes) they must also pave the way for the future. Risks will be taken, but they always must be taken with the best security, and the best plan. While companies will always try to press a gimmick, such as 3D, upon the users, the more practical functions of new technologies will always stick, with our without market influence.
  2. Perfectly understandable. We may change our requirements for age, depending on our professor's approval. For now, however, we have to keep a age limit simply because of a lack of information our professor has given us on this subject.
  3. A few researchers and I are conducting a research paper on this forum and the Brony community (of course ,we're also Bronies as well, so it was pretty easy to get our professor's approval). We are currently in need of interviews for our research paper, so I thought it would be logical to post a topic on the subject. We are looking for Interviewees whom are active on this site, over 18, and able to answer questions regarding Brony Culture and how bronies who are active in the community see themselves and others. We are doing this for a college course, yes, but we are still approaching it with all of the proper paperwork and discretion. Personal information or any information given during the interview will be used with discretion, and kept between the interviewer and the interviewee. No names will be used in the paper that could possibly link you to the research paper - all to protect your privacy, of course. We, the research team, will need to record the interview for our finalized research paper, and will keep all of your contributions confidential. We are looking to establish answers to three questions: What type of community is the brony community? What do bronies see themselves as? And what do Bronies view as deviant? While three out of the four researchers on this project are Bronies, we're pretty quiet and less active in Brony communities. As such, we're not exactly sure how to explain the Brony Community, and lack the expertise and experience Bronies like you have. We can only accept applicants above the age of 18(as per our professor's orders), and will disclose the documents we record to you to verify that you will allow them to be used in this research paper. We are simple researchers - we will make any change you feel is necissary to help you keep your contributions to yourself. So what do you say? Want to take part in an epic research adventure? If you wish to participate, please PM me or Futtershykit. We are looking forward to hearing from you!

    movies/tv The Anime Club

I don't watch much anime these days with a dance endings. Oh man. Shinsekai Yori. To put it bluntly, this anime is just pure japanese aesthetics. I'm a big fan of Japanese culture, history, and the language, and my GOD this anime is just amazing. It follows a lot of the same story flow similar to the classical japanese monogatari' storytelling style by focusing more on the people and their integration with the plot. It somehow merges this into a plot that works amazingly with television airing. Visually it's pleasing, using simplistic approaches and minimalism in a form that just screams Ukiyo-e without being so.... well, caught up with the classic style. Heck. soap bubble was an AMAZING ending! I cannot express how much this anime makes me act like foaming-mouth guy from Avatar.

    mega thread Anime Discussion Thread

Huh. Favorite anime. Well, I might as well dive in. My top five are: 1. Clannad. Setting up feelings, and breaking them down. It uses the galge's story and plot 9while summarizing a lot of it) to set up a beautiful love story that will keep you interested and curious. Though the longer you watch it, the more addicted to it you get. And it doesn't restrict itself against taking a hammer to this gentile story, smashing the main character's meaning of life and reason to live. An anime that willing to creatue a beautiful story and smash it, all for the sake of plot and feels, and to teach a lesson - that is the anime I most love. 2. Steins;Gate - Again, same reason as above. BUT WITH SCIENCE, and suspense and drama. Though it's less of a love story and more of a conspiracy story. Never the less, it is amazing. 3. Shinsekai Yori - A beautiful anime with a rich story based around japanese mythology and civilization following our own, in a wolrd where Science and Esper powers fought; and the espers won. In my view, this anime is pure art, and is just beautiful at capturing the aesthetics of japanese culture. Heck, here is the OP. Sorry about the odd site - it's taken down on youtube. :< http://telly.com/QRF8A 4.TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN - REMEMBER! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! NOT THE YOU WHO BELIEVES IN ME, NOT THE ME WHO BELIEVES IN YOU, BUT BELIEVE IN THE YOU WHO BELIEVES IN YOURSELF! But yeah, I think only one video needs to summarize my love for this series. SPOLIER VIDEO! WATCH AT YOUR OWN PERIL! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfUTihyusSg 5. FLCL - without this anime, I wouldn't have gotten as into anime as I have. This was the anime that started my downwa- interest in Anime. xD

    music Disturbed

I'd also suggest these two songs. :3 Two other personal favorites. Though land of confusion is originally sung by Genisis, if memory serves.

    music Disturbed

Wow. I'm suprised to see more Disturbed fans! My favorite song comes from the album that got them recognized, Down with the Sickness. Good ol' Droppin' Plates!
  8. I get the awkward feeling derpy doesn't have a lisence. Am I the only one with this uneasy feeling? Also, nice work Fluttershyfan94!
  9. My first real paid job was working as a bagger at a grocery store. Before that, though, I would do odd jobs, such as lawn and garden care to web design and programming.
  10. Your piece is great! I love the attention to detail. how much time did you put into it? I've done some art work myself with a tablet, and I always get caught up in a perfectionist mood.
  11. Nice work. It was smart to use the base body structure to build each one. I also like how you stylized them a bit - adds a bit of flair. I bet you're a better artist than you think!
  12. I saw this episode just today - AND LOVED IT! Really captured the feeling of the Olympic games, as well as how prestegious and competitive they are. And, of course, the moral of the story was great!
  13. Anything goes! What you like, be a console game, PC game, or a certain genre is what I'm interested in. Games, after all, are art as well as an interactive media. It's only fair I approach it in an open way, allowing those who want to answer the question to answer it in the way that feels more acceptable to them. Yes, it is a loaded question, and that was my mistake.
  14. Thanks! I'm looking forward to meeting many of my fellow bronies. I've been fairly shy about my interest, so I haven't taken part in much brony culture. Well, other than some wallpaper development. XD
  15. So, as a researcher, I am very, very curious - what video games do you like to play? For me, my current addiction is between Skyrim and Minecraft. both snuck up on me, demanding anothe playthrough. XD
