No one's said anyone from Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is surprising because it's one of the best feminist cartoons ever. Every single one of them deserves inclusion in this discussion, but I'll single out Azula, an impressively villainous and surprisingly complex ass-kicker, because there isn't enough villains on here. -

Probably "Simple Ways." Yeah, I know, it ain't all that horrible, which probably speaks to the overall quality of Rarity's episodes. But something seems a bit too juvenile for my tastes, and Rarity is painted perhaps a bit too ignorant. Again, it really isn't that bad, though, just sort of not up to Rarity's standards. In fact, it's a pretty alright episode. I really don't have any business in this thread, do I? -

Meh, I don't like it. Whether it's supported by the show or not, I don't like the idea of everything being "meant to happen" and predetermined from the very beginning. It's boring from a narrative perspective. -

I'd say Ellen Ripley, but ya'll already covered that, so how about Mrs. Brisby from The Secret of HIMH. She isn't a warrior or a genius or a super important chosen one, but she doesn't have to be. I think people too often associate a strong-willed female character with someone who can kick all asses, which isn't true. In fact, the most admiral heroes are the ones who brave whatever obstacle comes their way no matter how afraid or vulnerable they are, and that's what Mrs. Brisby is. She's a mom trying to protect her kids, even if it means potentially getting eaten by cats and owls, having to deal with a bunch of morally dubious rats, and risking life and limb. You've gotta respect that. -
Continuing my viewing of all of Classic Doctor Who. I've made it to one of my favorite episodes of anything ever.

I'm assuming all the unicorns in the EUP forces have proficient skill in magical combat. In general, I'd assume one would have to have the capacity to fight when joining the army. Otherwise it'd be like enlisting people who can't swim in the Marines. -
I don't have a problem with it. I don't actively ship it, but it's cute enough. While Soarin ain't exactly the most well-developed of characters, I can see a few traces of personality traits (kind of simple, but genuine and down to earth) that can be developed. It helps that he's voiced by Ed and is apparently the only Wonderbolt that isn't a butthead. If we did live in a reality where this ship gets any development, I'd say the best way to go about it is to have them developed friends through proximity/training together. And then later it'd just be like "Oh, they're together," but don't really have too much emphasis on it. Have little hints at affection between the two, something simple like that. That'd be nice. On a related note, a user here (I can't remember who) thought up a neat episode idea where Dash makes friends with a fellow Wonderbolt trainee or whatever (it can be Soarin), but the other Mane Five interpret this as like liking, and they proceed to ship them and play matchmaker. Wackiness ensues. The moral of the story would end up being something about boys and girls being able to be friends without that being attached. Kind of cool. Maybe. I dunno. Confession: I've always been a bit put off by the nickname "Dashie." It reminds me of My Little Dashie, and its usage there has a sort-of creepy conext there.

Well, they know what tanks are... Seriously, though? If we ignore that it's ponies we're talking about here, I imagine the war could get pretty intense in this world. Hand-to-hand combat would be, at best, a horse kicking you in the face. And that's not even including the unicorns, who, besides being able to use weapons the other races can't, have access to magic, which just opens up so many possibilities for horrific violence by itself. We've got pyrokinesis, force lightning, the three unforgivable curses, element-bending, mindwarping, transformations, the scary Degradations, the Horse of Travesties, the Nightmare Filly, the Could-Have-Been-Princess with her army of Meanwhiles and Neverweres. The war would be hell!

I've always been a bit annoyed by the theory that Dash is a lesbian due to her characterization. Not that I would have a problem with her swinging that way, but it's an unfair assumption to make that comes off as shallow. -

Saw Days of Future Past. Very fun, but it has a lot of script problems and some weird staging of events. At least it wiped the two crappiest X-Men movies from existence, and the after credits scene is really cool.
