joined a class on stained glass work, can't wait to relive and grow upon some positive childhood memories...you know, working with hot lead and sharp glass and stuff

You don't need to go to school for it if you want to make a hobby off of it. The hardest part is just getting the tools to start out. From there, becoming unafraid of the forge fire and proper safety is 2nd. Practice is 3rd. There are many videos and step by step instructions out there for beginners. Experimentation is key, because that's how you'll learn on your own.

I am definitely not good at making things precise. I am a very impatient person. I can't stand measure twice, cut once, because I want a product done...now. Plus, if I think too hard when something is almost done, I end up making a mess in striving for perfection. Happens to my husband all the time, he's a metal perfectionist, but at least he's patient.
