Infection of what?

I had a lump taken out of my arm last month, that left me with 16 stitches in 3 layers (the top, skin layer was only 4 stitches). The skin stitches have been out for quite a while now, but I got an infection in either my 2nd or 3 layer. There hasn't been any pain, and nothing showed of it until last night, when I was changing for bed and saw a puss bubble, which I popped, let it drain out a bit before Neosporin-iting it up and bandaging it....
