  That's just a job requirement. Knowing more languages is always better. I'm going to work as a web developer soon, and I will have a test in my immediate future. Python is also used in web development. Seriously, language doesn't matter. They're just tools to get shits done. You can use Java Script for extra glitters while working with PHP, of course, but doesn't really matter.
