  1. Hello jackw545, and welcome back to the forums!  :D

I joined the forums not too long ago so I don't really know much about the controversies you brought up, but we're all glad that you decided to return  :grin2:

Feel free to PM either me or the other forum members if you want to chat  :rarity:

    *Hugs*  :please:

  2. Welcome back!

(Defiantly Not any more drama has happened around the fandom sence you were gone)

It wasn't the drama that got me, it was how vehemently opposed to dwm and pinkiepony that the fandom seemed to be. The fandoms reaction just really disgusted me.

  3. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Twilight Sparkle

How did you find MLP Forums?: I think it was through a google search

How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I got curious about it and started watching mid season 3.

Alright well... I used to be pretty into the brony fandom for a long while, specifically on this forum. Then all that drama with DWM happened and I just got really disgusted with the fandom in general and kind of left. I still watched the show and I still loved it. Since then I've made a few of likeminded friends who enjoy MLP and I've just sort of decided to try to get back into the fandom. I know there are some wonderful people here and I'd like to believe that those wonderful people are the majority.

  4. That article is taking it waaaaay out of proportion. Seriously, I had to struggle finishing reading that because it makes me so angry and sick.

Yea, rape is fucking sick. They should be beat up, locked up in a cell for life and sterilized. But me, a rapist's comrade? Don't make me laugh, or was that article itself meant as a joke? The poster hardly understands how endogenous morphine forms opinion within a person, he's just blabbering some stuff he read and heard and thinks he's all such an "expert" on it.

Like with all jokes, jokes are funny because an activity or situation is made humorous or entertaining. This isn't just rape. There's dark humor, jokes about murder, poking fun at a race, making fun of each other's countries, jokes about suicide. There's no end to the amount of jokes that make fun of something. Plus, don't forget the satires, which balance completely on the border of jokes and insults. Yet people, the same ones that despise other jokes, are completely fine with satires. Heck, you probably joke with your friends about some activity you don't like, ranging from sports to music. I guess since you don't like football and make jokes about it that makes you the next person who's going to kill a football fan?

So what I'm really trying to say is, whatever you find acceptable or not, there'll always be another person that will find what you find acceptable completely wrong. Of course we know rape is completely wrong. But really, am I the comrade of a rapist for liking a joke? Oh, I guess, using the same bogus hocuspocus theory,  we're all comrades of murderers, rapists, neo-nazis and thieves.

Just because the rapist's opinion gets validated doesn't mean *I* was the one who helped him in his act. In fact, the rapist got the idea of committing the crime from somewhere else, not from me. Thoughts of rape sprout from a series of events and opinions, not from jokes.

But I guess while we're at it, whenever I make a joke about Germany, America or India that means I'm a fascist nationalist and the people who laugh with me are actually my followers! I guess that one joke I told about Canadians really did give me the idea of becoming a dictator! I guess since I'm such a dictator because of one joke, I am also (very, very) secretly a supporter of slavery, abuse and nationalization! Because hey, I made a joke about it! Or perhaps someone in the room laughing is the real dictator and I was actually (very, very) unconsciously accepting him as my new overlord!

See how retarded that sounds? Now use that, multiply it by a million and you get that article.

People complaining about a joke need to listen to this for the last fucking time, because I am completely done with this.

IT'S. A. JOKE. GET. OVER. YOURSELF. ALREADY.

Like, I hear countless suicide and self-mutilation jokes, two subjects which are very close to me. Yet, do you hear me ruining someone else's fun? No. I know that jokes are jokes and nothing more but jokes. Heck, I can even laugh at them. However, whenever someone takes it too far, I'll point out that what the person is saying, is out of line.

Oh and before I'm done, I still need to post my opinion about Molestia:

Molestia is a joke, it's pretty damn funny, I'm totally okay with it. Come at me bro, I don't care what kind of negative opinion people have about me, especially considering the ones over the internet.

But hey, why should you listen to someone who's apparently "the rapist's comrade".

Btw, comrade implies I've been with said fictional rapist through thick and thin. Which, since I don't even know any rapists, is clearly impossible. The use of the word comrade is completely wrong and it bugs me so I had to point it out.

It's pretty clear the piece flew way over your head. No one is accusing you of being the rapist's comrade. What they said was when you laugh about rape and you treat it as a normal thing, a joke, a real and true rapist would feel validated and see you as their comrade because making rape jokes and laughing at them normalizes rape. Sure, not to you (hopefully) because you're that decent guy who can just appreciate a good joke, but to the rapist it absolutely does.

Now let's look at it from the victims point of view. 97% percent of rapists never spend a day in jail. (http://www.rainn.org/statistics) Most rapists never have to pay for their crime. Think how often we see "they were asking for it" or "well she shouldn't have gotten drunk with a group of guys! What did she think would happen?" just blaming the victim and not the rapist. Because of that how hard is it for a victim to go to the police with a rape case? Think how difficult it would be for the victim to have to take the stand in court, looking their attacker(s) in the eye and testify against them. Hard on its own, but now add in all their peers making rape jokes and laughing about it like it's not a big deal. Already they may thinking "Was it really their fault? Maybe I shouldn't have dressed like that. Maybe I did send signals. Maybe I egged them on. Maybe it was me." Think how that makes the victim feel. Now you may be "They were raped and that's a horrible awful thing but they can't get stuck on that. They need to move on." That is literally the equivalent of telling someone suffering with clinical depression to "get happier" or telling a soldier with PTSD to just "move on the war is over" and that is why you can't tell someone to just "get over yourself" because they're offended by rape jokes.

That is the issue I have with Molestia, that is why people are angry about a simple little joke. Really why Molestia though? Why is it a problem to just make it Trollestia and make jokes that don't involve rape or sexual assault. Some of the strips on there already do! And you know what, they're funny. But why have rape jokes in there? Gamer Luna is cool, I love the gamer Luna meme. That's why I don't think the blog should be taken down, just changed a bit and JJ should apologise for making rape jokes. Like you said, this is over the internet and I don't know you so let me clarify my "you're a tool if you make rape jokes" bit. You may be a really cool guy. I don't know, I haven't met you. If you make rape jokes, you're a tool for doing so, but that doesn't mean I hate you. I think you have an immature and offensive sense of humor and I think you need to grow up and see how your "jokes" impact others, but I don't hate you, nor do I think you're a bad person. Hell I used to make rape jokes and laugh at them.

  5. It doesn't sound "fair" or "right" to me as it comes off as taking it out on someone else who has nothing to do with the incident in any way.

Unless Molestia blogger was involved in the crime, making negative attacks against her, and/or profitting in any way off of this rape incident; then that's a whole other thing.

The problem with Molestia is that it is literally making fun of rape and sexual assault. That is pretty bucking insulting to survivors and it just shows how far rape culture goes when you can just write it off as a joke. So if that is how you want to dismiss the molestia blog, please, please take the time to read this. It was actually written in response to a comic on Penny Arcade, but I feel it fits in rather well with my thoughts on Molestia, and rape jokes in general.

Now I don't think the blog should be taken down. I think JJ should make a post apologising for offending people with rape jokes, and promise to stop with them.

  6. Ooohhh man do I love Tumblr. I've made a few friends on there, and there is some truly amazing content on there. I love being able to discuss fandoms and stuff. Like really, I know zero Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Firefly fans, but I've met quite a few on Tumblr and it's great to be able to talk about these shows, when before I was just sort of geeking out on my own. Also it's a really great place for me to vent.

As for people wondering how to get followers and traffic, it mostly takes time and dedication. I only have 49 followers, so I may not be the best to give advice, but I think I've been growing pretty rapidly lately. Basically you have to tag all of your posts. Make sure their relevant tags though, otherwise you're just being a douche. That way people searching for whatever you're posting will find your posts. Second you have to be consistent in your posting. If you only make a few posts a day, or post a ton a few days of the week, you're not going to attract a lot of followers because you're not being very active, and you're not being consistently active. Third get in on some promos! Larger blogs will often host promos for fledgling blogs. These often come in the form of contests for best URL, best theme, best content etc., or they will come in things like "first 20 to reblog get's a promo!" Fourth aesthetic is really important. If people see a post and decide to check out your blog and you have an exceptionally common or horrendous theme, they will probably just navigate away from your blog. Sort of tied into is is URL. If you make your URL like a username like jackw545, people won't be attracted to it. Try to base your URL on your interests or what kind of things you post. Mine is assortedgeekerys for reference and a few of my favorite blogs URLs: queen-of-worlds-that-dont-exist, flutter-dashie, angry-tardis-noises, hyruliandumbass and thelizardwomenfromthedawnoftime.

AND shameless self plug time! assortedgeekerys.tumblr.com. If I were forced to classify my blog, I'd say multifandom, but I mostly reblog anything I like. The fandoms I post are MLP (of course), Sherlock, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Supernatural, Buffy/Angel, Firefly, The Mortal Instruments and LoTR. There are tons more but I don't want to bore you with the long list of them.

  7. In real life I'm pretty embarrassed about ponies and keep it pretty low key. I really don't need another thing to be harassed about.

Being under 18 and living with a sibling and parents, I actually haven't been able to yet, but crossdressing seems really fun.

I definitely have some fetishes, but honestly that's kind of TMI but if any of you really want to know just shoot me a message or something.

  8. Oohh I have quite a few in Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Tara's death was spoiled for me by a Tumblr post, though this didn't stop me from sobbing and not watching Buffy for a week because I was too upset

    Along similar lines in Angel

Fred and Wesley's deaths were spoiled for me, by the same Tumblr post (it was Whedonverse deaths if you were curious)

A tumblr post about Clockwork Princess spoiled (wow Tumblr has ruined a lot of things for me!)

Will's death for me, though the context of which wasn't mentioned so I had no clue it was after he lived a full life and was in the epilogue, though I still cried like a baby because it was just such a beautiful scene with Jem playing the violin and then holding his hand as he died and I just cried my eyes out.

AGAIN WITH TUMBLR SPOILING THINGS in Supernatural

Bobby's death was spoiled for me

And an Amazon review kind of spoiled Looking for Alaska for me.

  9. My acne

    my sexuality (bi)

my penis (I got pantsed all the way in eighth grade by a group of bullies who STILL make my life hell and years later friggin no one has let it go)

My generally nerdy interests (Scifi, fantasy, video games, computers, space)

    my laugh

That I smile a lot. Apparently this means I'm a pedophile. Yay high schooler asshat logic.

  10.

We already have hetero relationships in the series, which simply can't be avoided if we want to show something about family or love - hetero is more common, deal with it.

Little children don't care about sexuality, they don't understand it anyway.

Little children don't understand sexuality because it is never explained to them. All they get about it is what they see from their parents, and what they see on the media, which is primarily hetero because no one is willing to put a homosexual relationship in a childrens show. Personally I think a homosexual relationship needs to be displayed in childrens entertainment sooner rather than later. I'm not saying it should be MLP (I really wouldn't mind if it was though) but I do believe it should happen. You're correct though that children don't care about sexuality, which is exactly why it should be explained to them at a younger age so that they can accept all human sexualities as natural. How much homophobia would occur in high school if we all learned about homosexuality at young age rather than have it thoroughly explained to us in middle school (I don't know about everyone else I wasn't taught about homosexuality until middle school health class. I knew about it beforehand because my uncle is gay but imagine how many kids didn't know about until that point. I'd imagine the kids who didn't are more likely to be homophobic. I don't know if that's factual or not though) where we've already accepted heterosexuality and the normal and expected sexuality.

Anyways with that little rant of why children should be taught about homosexuality at a young age, I do think a homosexual shipping in MLP would work rather well, at least with my personal ships. Really we only have two official ships in the show so far, those being Mr. and Mrs. Cake and Shining and Cadence. Sure, CherMac has been hinted at but it never really became official, FlashTwi (which I despise by the way) was in Equestria Girls which has been stated as non-canonical to FiM (thank god) but other than that we really don't have many pairings in the show. As for AppleDash, I see the shipping there I do, but I much prefer RariJack (not a popular one, probably due to the sleepover episode, but I love Much Ado About Nothing ships, where they start out hating each other) and FlutterDash.

(Sorry if my writing seems rushed and a bit disconnected, which it would, seeing as I wrote this in a rush with a bunch of thoughts running through my head. Forgive me.)

  11. Watched: Firefly (My absolute favorite TV show ever)

    Buffy the Vampire Slayer

    Angel

Psych (I'm on Netflix so I haven't seen the latest season)

    24

    Sherlock

    How I Met Your Mother

    Doctor Who

Supernatural (Only seen what's on Netflix)

    Game of Thrones

    The IT Crowd

    Scrubs

    Bones (Only what's on Netflix)

    Jericho

Alcatraz (I can't believe it go cancelled with that cliffhanger ending)

    Watching: Friends

    Dollhouse

    Being Human (U.K.)

    Planning to watch: Torchwood

    Star Trek TOS

    Star Trek TNG

    New Girl

    Once Upon A Time

    Castle

    Battlestar Galactica

    Merlin

    Ally Mcbeal

    Fringe

    Warehouse 13

    Teen Wolf

    The X-Files

I have an issue with being interested in far too many TV shows.

  12. Studying for SATs. I've actually been procrastinating that all summer. I'm bucking screwed.

On a less serious anxiety spiking note, I'm also procrastinating watching Supernatural. I just watched "Death's Door" a few hours ago and I'm honestly just not ready to watch the next episode. I hate this show... but I love it.

  13. Hm, idk i really feel like I don't have alot of pet peeves to beggin with, actually i can hardly think of anything at all.

Them being weird narrows it down alot more to.

Um, does people rubbing on styraphome count? That noise drives me bonkers.

I can't think of anything else on my own, :/.

Being in band and having this constantly rhythm going through my head, even not being a drummer I tap stuff sometimes, typically not during tests though.

Also, while I try to not smack while eating, for some reason I can't not do it, don't ask me why, my brother hates it to, and he gets annoyed with me all the time for it.

So I guess i imagine you'd be pretty annoyed at me to. :/.

It's really only when I'm trying to concentrate that tapping and stuff annoys me. Like if you're at the lunch table or on the bus, tap away my friend, but if it's in the library or during a test, I'd get annoyed with you, yeah. As for smacking, I understand people can't help it (hell, I do it sometimes, mostly with chewy food though) so I just pretty much deal with it. It sucks that I get annoyed at such a common thing though.

  14. When people say "Well you times X by Y to get XY." No, you MULTIPLY X by Y, this isn't third grade, so please use vocabulary that doesn't make you sound like a third grader. I don't know, I get seriously annoyed when I hear that. It's strange.

Having a dirty screen. Seriously, if I have one smudge on a screen, it's getting sprayed by glasses cleaner (which, protip, works really well for cleaning screens)

When people doggy ear books on the bottom of the page.

humming, tapping, whistling etc. during a test or some other silent period where I need to concentrate.

    When people "smack" while eating.

    • Brohoof 1
  15. My twin brother. He bullies me constantly, knows just which buttons to push to send me into an anxiety attack and breakdown and pushes them for fun. He's pretty much a huge twatwaffle and I despise him. I don't hate my step dad exactly, but he's really annoying. One time he grounded me because I didn't "infer" that the dishes needed to be done. I always do MY dishes, but he said the sink was filled that morning and I got grounded for not doing them. The only dishes in there were his breakfast dishes. I pointed that out and said they would have been done if he'd actually asked me to do them and he just told me I should've inferred what he wanted and grounded me. He never respects the things I like. He acts like video games are inventions of Satan and he said I have shitty taste in television and literally sat there belittling my favorite show ever (Firefly) while I was sitting there trying to watch it. He doesn't have to like the things I like, but can he not force his opinion down my throat and just let me enjoy them? He does stuff like that a lot and it tends to piss me off so while I don't hate him, he's annoying and I don't like him.

    • Brohoof 2
  16. The only 2013 game I've actually played so far is Tomb Raider, and it is spectacular. 10/10 for me, so I'd definitely nominate that. Later this year I'm keeping an eye on Splinter Cell (although I still resent the fact that Michael Ironside isn't the VA for Sam), Watch Dogs and GTA V.

    • Brohoof 1
  17. I've been wanting to get into anime for a while, but I literally have no clue where to start, so the first anime I ever watched was RWBY, which premiered a few days ago. :P. So yeah I haven't really gotten into any, so if you all have any recommendations, recommend them!

  18. Xbox 360: RWL Splinter (please, please, please do not just randomly join my party. Message me and if I want to play I'll invite you. Sometimes I just want to play alone (this is really only with SP games though) or just with a small group of close friends. I really do despise large parties. They make me anxious)

    Steam: jackw428

3DS: 0576-4487-6427 (I only have Resident Evil: Revelations right now, but I plan on picking up Ocarina of Time and Animal Crossing soon.)

  19. Alan Wake is one of my favorite games of all time.

OK, this is a terrible game, but I still enjoyed it because it was so fun to mess with the horrible AI. Rogue Warrior.

People hate on Resident Evil 5 all the time, but I love that game to death. I've played through it around five times, and have quite a bit of time logged into it.

And an entirely underrated game that is amazing, Guns of Icarus Online. I know only a few people that play it, and it's great fun.
