Its actually quite entertaining and extremely intriguing. I have one of my own actually :3

It's hard to describe what it is, but I tend to think of it as more of a computer program that shares the same subconcious as your regular mind does. So I don't really think of it as a living being.

That being said, it's 'dissolution' is more of it fading into into your subconsious rather than you actually killing it, if it helps any.

Tulpas are advanced imaginary friends right? But they function on their own, and are-more or less- sentient. And as a sentient being, starving it to death feels wrong to do. But you say i just fades into your subconscious? In that case, ot could be retrieved. But then it is like treating it like a toy to be put away and brought out at your leisure, which also feels wrong to do to a sentient being-imaginary or otherwise.
