    Thank you, Mr. Leader of the Brony Music Directory! (That was the feel for which I was striving: a kind of quiet, private lament for the verses that evolved into a more and more intense reverie at each successive chorus... pulling back into a more private introspection for the next verse as I've heard done in some Broadway numbers. I'm glad you feel that crazy little experiment was successful!) <3

    *ponders* Hmmmm... "Flat tone"... that could mean note-wise, volume/dynamic-wise, or perhaps the choice of emotional delivery....? Reaching... trying to see what you mean... I could possibly see that there may be too much compression on the lead vocals reducing the perception of dynamic/emotional variance.... Perhaps if you could go into more detail than a few sentences it might help future productions I have to engineer myself? (I'm a singer, not an engineer, and the engineer from the label I'm signed-with gave his seal of approval on this personal/fun track. But I know there's nothing done so well that it can not be improved-upon -- even in such a subjective arena as music! Every bit of truly constructive criticism helps to make the next projects even better! )

I've got to make time to do that song! I've tried to make sense of what you've written, but it's so vague and nebulous I have a difficult time inferring any constructive criticism from it. Can you expound, and be specific as to what you feel needs to be changed to improve your own personal listening experience?

A very long time ago, I lived on the edge of the Alaskan frontier, several miles north of Fairbanks. My team of six wonderful sleddogs and I saved one-anothers' lives countless times on our adventures into the wilderness. That was my Ponyville. As years passed, I watched as one-by-one my own dearest friends, my own Mane6 grew old and passed-away in my arms.     Hi everypony, I'm so sorry to have gotten your hopes up about auditioning for the next episode of Equestria: Hidden History, but after doing a _lot_ of polishing on the script and the short arc that carries us into the heart of the drama, the most gripping way of telling the story is to hold-off introducing any new characters until episode 04. ...The good news, is that I've got my own personal dragon... my own personal Spike... as a military and historical consultant on this section of the script; and with his input, this "eye of the storm" has become far more powerful than I'd ever imagined! The story is about to just explode! Thanks for your patience, and I look forward to having you audition for the new characters that will be making their entrance next episode!     For Twilight (Trixie's Song) (parody of "For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her" by Simon and Garfunkel) https://pony.fm/tracks/1020-for-twilight-trixiessong It had been nearly a year since the Alicorn Amulet incident when Twilight, on official business to outlying areas of Equestria, found Trixie alone and destitute. Life had not been kind to the show-mare; time and time again, she had rebuilt her wagon and tried to resume performances, but word seemed to have spread. In every town she had been met with at least as much avarice as she had at that fateful show, years ago in Ponyville. When Twilight Sparkle stumbled upon her, “The Great and Powerful Trixie” was so broken inside, she didn't even have the energy to lash-out at the one she felt had been the beginning of her downfall. A simple, lifeless “Hi” was all she could manage. However, this one word, “Hi,” had real magic within it... not magic to vanquish foes... not show-stopping magic... but rather the magic of friendship. Sending Spike on to complete the rounds, Twilight stayed with Trixie; sharing her campfire and the tarp that had once been a resplendent proscenium. Twilight helped Trixie to see that the magic Trixie herself possessed was not intended for the same purposes as her own – saving villages, empires and the like. But even so, Trixie's gift for magic was in fact just as valuable; for it could be used to lift spirits and inspire hope. Trixie's magic was the kind of magic that could entertain, surprise and enchant... woven well, it was the kind of magic that could encourage greatness _within_others._ Twilight stayed with Trixie in the little clearing; listening, sharing, and helping Trixie to create a show that focused on bringing out the best in the pony volunteers from an audience. Trixie was secretly terrified to go in in front of another audience, but with Twilight's gentle encouragement, the first performance of this new act was the best Trixie could ever remember. The hoofstomps and cheers as she took her last bow were positively thunderous. And there was Twilight, her friend, right there in the front row beaming up at her with tears in her beautiful violet eyes. Now the campfire burns low next to the two friends asleep in the little clearing, and Trixie wakes from a pleasant dream.... What a dream I had of us in Ponyville... things were different, 'cause you cared for me still; like you do right now. I wandered empty streets down past the shop-displays; I heard the clock-tower bell ringing down the alleyway, as I walked on. And when you ran to me, your coat damp with the night; we walked on frosted fields of juniper and lamplight. ...You held my hoof. And when I awoke and felt you warm and near, I kissed your smoky mane with my grateful tears. Oh I love you, mare. Oh I love you.

Head of security for P. Celestia. Fully capable of kicking tail and taking down names... still she has a gentler, softer side that will be revealed as the series progresses. We've got to believe her capable of great depth of emotion, as well as being a "cast-iron 'B'". PERSONALITY: Korra from "Korra" meets Laura Croft from "Tomb Raider" AUDITION LINES: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RACKSTRAW -- HAS BEEN CAST (villain - LARGE PART in EP02... appearing in at least one future episode) An orator, extremely skilled at twisting truths and misinformation to his own ends; completely comfortable with saying things he knows to be untrue. PERSONALITY: Amon from "Korra" meets Scar from "Lion King" AUDITION LINES: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QUEEN OF SADDLE ARABIA -- HAS BEEN CAST (lawful-good - SMALL PART in ep02, LARGE PART in EP 03) Gentle, maternal, warm and wise. An Earth Pony striving to be as good a leader as P. Celestia. (Believable/applicable accent preferred) SUGGESTED PERSONALITY: Cheerilee meets Sarabi from "Lion King" AUDITION LINES: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KING OF SADDLE ARABIA -- HAS BEEN CAST (lawful-good - SMALL PART in ep02, LARGE PART in EP 03) Strong, honorable, warm and wise. An Earth Pony striving to be as good a leader as P. Celestia. (Believable/applicable accent preferred) SUGGESTED PERSONALITY: Sallah from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" meets Mufasa from "Lion King" AUDITION LINES: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EXOTIC STREET VENDOR -- HAS BEEN CAST (neutral-good - SMALL PART appearing only in EP 02) Playful and canny; underneath his joviality, he is thinking several moves ahead of his customers. It can't have been too long after seeing "Bridle Gossip" that I found myself humming "Talk like Zecora" to the old, Bangles tune, "Walk Like an Egyptian" and throwing myself into giggle-fits. I finally got around to recording it and doing the music for it as a birthday present to myself. (Yaaay, Im' a solstice filly! ) I reworked a MIDI track from some unknown sequencer for the acoustic bass, and the sitar... but all the percussion is live, by me. I wanted to have it be like if Stomp were to have done the music for it... kind-of industrial-tribal-pop! (Is that even a genre? ) Anyway... I hope it makes ya laugh as much as it does me! And remember... Talk like Zecora!

    Looks like the forums and Pony.FM are getting noticed by spammers and spam-bots.... I know the admin staff is very much on-the-spot with removing these things, but like a lot of other alpha-testers for Pony.FM, I've "watched" this forum, so I get emails forwarding on the spam-posts nonetheless.... A while back, I ran my own forums and had a similar problem -- but someone suggested an anti-bot-test that had the user fill-in a text-field as to whether a picture was of kittens or of cars.... I was just wondering if something like this might be coded here and on Pony.FM as well? Perhaps: "Mare vs. Stallion" or "Twilight vs. Luna" or other even more pony/Brony specific tests? Just thinking-out-loud!
