  1. Still's ears perk up as he walks through the forest. It's somewhat faint, but he can make out voices in the distance. Instinctively, Still casts a spell turning himself invisible. He doesn't move for a moment. The voices continue to yell. "Someone could be in trouble over there," Still thinks to himself. "But if I go check it, then I'll be in trouble too." Still just can't help his curiosity, and starts moving towards the noises. The yelling had stopped, and now he could hear movements. As Still gets closer it begins to sound more and more like ponies moving around. He stops for a moment not wanting to get too close. Still's ears perk up again and he jumps a little. The trees around him begin to move. Not just move, but shake very violently. Even though he's invisible, Still starts to get worried. Being invisible isn't foolproof. If whatever's lurking around in the trees can sense him in some other way...he could be in trouble.
  2. Still felt his hooves step onto the tiny leaves of a bush. "At least it's not a tree," he thought as he crouched down to take cover. The nearby rustling was getting louder and louder. "Please just be a squirrel." Then it stopped. The forest went back to being dead silent. Still raised his head up and looked around.
  3. "Is anypony there?" Still called out towards the campsite. He looked around while waiting for a response. Nothing was moving, not a sound could be heard, and it was oddly dark. Still suddenly felt very alone. "Is that a...no?" Still almost jumped out of his skin when he heard sound coming from beside him. The shrubs alongside the dirt path; something in them was moving. Still slowly started taking steps backwards while his mind began racing. Was it an animal? Was it dangerous? Was it harmless? Was somepony playing a trick on him? Was he now inside a horror story? If he kept backing up would he bump into a tree?
  4. Still trudged along the path kicking tiny rocks whenever they appeared. He had thought he was in what he referred to as the top right corner of the forest, but now he wasn't sure. "How am I getting lost?" he said aloud to himself. "I've never gotten lost in the Everfree Forest! This is all that coin's fault." It had started to get darker. Darkness had never bothered Still, and he could always use his horn as a light source in case he needed to see better. Speaking of which, some dark objects appeared before him. They weren't rock or trees, but tents. "Is somepony camping out here?" He wondered.
  5. Still couldn't help feeling a foreboding presence as he carefully moved through the woods. He kept telling himself it was just the cloudy weather making him nervous. Then something strange happened. Still looked left. He looked right. "Since when does the path split here?" he asked out loud. "Am I in the wrong part of the forest?" he wondered. "But I came in from the spot near my house. There's no way I could have gotten turned around that badly. Then again...I do keep thinking about those stupid clouds. Wouldn't be the first time I've zoned out this badly..." Shaking his head, Still went down the left path. If he somehow did end up in the opposite corner of the forest, then going left would put him back on track. At least he hoped.
  6. Still was both delighted and somewhat disheartened when he got to the house. Whoever this guy was he had conveniently put up the exact information Still needed on his door. Of course this meant that there were no doubt other ponies out in the forest right now seeking the gem. Luckily for Still he knew the forest relatively well. The spot described on the paper sounded like an area of the forest where a couple of particular plants and flowers grew. It was an area Still visited frequently. Taking walks in the forest not only cleared his head, it was also a great place to gather plants to sell in town. Still decided to pick up the pace and darted towards the Everfree forest. Hopefully he'd manage to find this gem and get the reward first.
  7. Still let out a groan of agony as he let his book fall onto the floor. "That is it! I am done with this series." He said aloud, despite being the only one in his house. He hated when a book series started off with promise but then spiraled down into mediocrity. Reading stories like that gave him such headaches that he called them soulaches. Still made his way outside, not bothering to pick the book up. Despite often being ignorant of the weather, Still couldn't help but notice how dark it was. He could have sworn it had been sunny just a few hours earlier when he woke up. It wasn't even noon yet; however it looked as if the sun had already set. Still shrugged it off. As long as it wasn't raining he didn't care. Although since it could start raining he decided to take his walk in town. Still would have rather gone into the forest as there was never anypony else in there. Thankfully it was sparse in town. The gloomy weather must have scared everypony else off. With no other ponies to peek at from the corner of his eyes, Still noticed an otherwise inconspicuous flier on one of the houses. He stopped and read it over carefully. "Lost gem...will be rewarded..." he muttered under his breath. “Interesting.” Back in his house, Still rummaged around in one his closets. He took out a slightly old looking box. The Everfree Forest did not bother Still like it did most of the ponies in Ponyville. Sure there were some dangerous creatures living in it, but if one was simply careful and quiet one would be left alone. His horn glowed a soft shade of yellow as he undid the magical seals on the box. Of course, having a few magical tricks like being able to turn yourself invisible for a few moments certainly made the forest feel less threatening. The box was full of bits. Still took one out with his mouth and gently threw it into the air. It fell on the floor with soft thud. He peered down, seeing that it had landed heads up. "Into the forest it is then," He said as he relocked and put the box away. Normally he wouldn't go out into the woods during dubious weather, but getting a lost and found reward certainly made it tempting. Fate had just spoken, and thus it was time to go searching. The town was still barren of other ponies as Still trotted towards the address on the flier. "Hopefully this dummy remembers where he was in there."
  8. Twilight just decided to keep her old books, and now they've all been destroyed
  9. I've been trying to guess how this season finale is going to go down. My guess so far is that Tirek is going to drain the other three princesses, and for the elements of harmony won't work on him. So even more friendship is going to be needed, thus they will use the power from their new friends this season to open the box and get super rainbow powers. And Discord is going to be the one who activates Twilight's rainbow eye thing, they've already been hinting at that.
  10. He's clearly been hanging out with Pinkie Pie too much.
  11. I had an idea on for an episode that would tie in the comics. It would be similar to the PPG episode City of Clipsville where the girls had flashback to events that never actually happened on the show. For MLP, the Mane 6 and Spike will reminise over events that happened in the comics. They'll talk about that time Rarity became Nightmare Rarity, and the time they went on a pirate adventure, etc. Then we can get some animated shots of those adventures. If they did this episode soon like in season 5 it would work great as a way to advertise the comics a bit. Otherwise I think it would work well as one of the last episodes in the series. A final little tie in to show that the comics are cannon, we just witnessed those adventures in a different format.
  12. Something I just realized today was that this episode had a nice little puppet theme going on. The instigation to the plot had to do with literal puppets. Then Rarity became a puppet to the book once she was under its spell. Finally, Spike was being a puppet to Rarity by giving her blind praise. You could also think of possessed Rarity treating Ponyville like a stage for her to glamourize.
  13. This episode had a lot of fun moments, but it to me it felt disjointed. Before the book came into play a conflict was already established, that Rarity made something which did not work out and was depressed about it. It looked like it was setting up a plot about Rarity needing to learn how to handle criticism, then things started shifting gears. The new conflict was about Rarity being possessed by a spell, and Spike having to deal with her madness. The fact that Rarity was being possessed by the spell cheapened it for me as Spike wasn't dealing with Rarity having a legitimate character flaw, it was the book causing it. Also I felt like the episode lacked a good sense of community. Sure Ponyville and everypony else was there, but they felt like props. Rarity did something to mess up their day, and that was it. No followup or seeing the consequences. I was glad that we saw Twilight taking a more active role in helping with the problem, but again we only saw a little bit and they added in a line about Luna and Cadance helping her instead of showing it. None of the others interacted with Rarity, putting distance between her and the community and adding to the disjointed feel. So overall a rather disjointed episode. It also gives me the same feeling Bats did where the focus was too much on watching a character act crazy then trying to write a coherent story.
  14. I knew the lesson was going to be about friendship being more important than getting an item, which of course they demonstrated in three different ways. I've noticed that this show has trouble juggling more than two characters, and using all six at once must be a challenge. It's nice to see that the girls are getting along much better with their opposites. Compare these three duos to how they interacted in season 1 and you can see they've come along nicely with each other. I like how Applejack was interested in something for it's usability as opposed to Rarity wanting something simply because it was valuable. Also funny how they ended up arguing over who was the more generous friend. I think it's appropriate that they both ended up compromising, although I would have prefered for them to realize it together. Always love watching Twilight and Pinkie Pie hang out. As usual they have trouble handling each other due to one being introverted and the other extroverted. It was nice how Pinkie inadvertently opened Twilight's eyes to how special her books are as momentoes from Celestia. I also think it's sweet how Pinkie didn't bring anything to trade and wanted to just chill with her friends. Great to Spike have a happy ending and avoid being abused. Hopefully he'll get some good treatment in the next two episodes.
  15. Rarity and Twilight would be interesting now that Twilight is a princess. I could see Rarity obsessing over it and wanting to teach Twilight how to act refined. And I always want more Twilight and Pinkie Pie. Those two are like the perfect comedy duo. They fit into the traditional roles of the smart one who gets irriated easy and the dumb one who's oblivious, but can switch where Twilight can end up going insane and Pinkie needing to step up and be the level headed one. I like to think they're both crazy, just on different wavelengths.
  16. I agree, there better be lots of awesome Rarity episodes in seasons to come Other things I want to see -Every pair in the mane 6 to share an episode together where they have a bonding experience. These are the best episodes, and there are still certain pairs that haven't happened yet (Rarity + RD, Rarity + Pinkie Pie, AJ + Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie + Fluttershy) - Get some backstory on the three resident demi-gods: Celestia, Luna and Discord. - Have the mane 6 visit other countries and meet other magical races. - Have an episode where we see what the background ponies are up to on a typical day. (The mane 6 can be the background ponies in this episode) - Have some of the old antagonists come back. - Meet RD and Fluttershy's families. - Give Applejack a few new flaws for her character to deal with. For example maybe she's not good at running a business. - Have Spike find out where his parents are and go on a journey to meet them. (For real this time) - The CMC find out why Diamond and Silver are such horse apples and find a way to befriend them. - An episode staring Big Mac where we hear his thoughts on what's going on around him. - Another episode with Cheese Sandwich. - By the end of the show Rarity finds her prince, but he's not her unrealistic vision of perfection. - King Sombra returning with his full power and sanity. What I don't want to see - Anymore one dimensional characters simply made to serve as a plot point (Cadance, Shining Armor, Trenderhoof) - Fluttershy episodes where they just turn her into some kind of creature or have her get really angry. - Rainbow Dash having to do more of the endless crap required to be a Wonderbolt. - Badly written Pinkie Pie
  17. Friendship goes both ways. We don't know if Discord is trying at all to befriend any of them, except Twilight apparently. Even though he's been reformed he still enjoys messing with the girls and upsetting them for his amusment. I imagine that he and Fluttershy have a certain understanding with each other. She puts up with his craziness, and he doesn't take it too far. I don't think the other girls would be up with that kind of compromise, well maybe Pinkie Pie. Discord probably won't be able to tone himself down enough to appease all 6 of them.
  18. The writers don't seem to know what to do with him most of the time. I noticed this past season that he's been around more often when the mane 6 are doing a group thing, but he doesn't say or do much. I'm actually glad that he's not as sexist and rough as he was before. I never like it when characters need to rely on their gender for identity. I think the problem is that Spike doesn't bring a unique dynamic to the group. He's usually used for comedy relief, but if Pinkie Pie is around then she's got that covered. At the worst he's regulated to being a tag along kid, and those pretty much never work out. I don't know if they're ever going to get around to fleshing Spike out more. There are still a lot of pairings in the mane 6 that haven't been touched on yet, and I imagine Spike sharing episode plots with more of the girls isn't a priority.
  19. I can understand their initial hesitation, but I hope by now they will try harder with Discord. They saw first hoof that Fluttershy successfully reached out to him and has helped him become less evil. I don't know how cannon the comics are considered but the CMC managed to reach out to him as well. Hopefully the other mane 5 will find ways to connect with him. I imagine Twilight will have the most difficulty with Discord as she lacks patience, and I'm guessing they'll be dealing with each other during the season finale so we'll see how that goes.
  20. One emotional plot would be if Spike had to say goodbye to everypony. Let's say they found out where Spike originated from, but it's quite far and dangerous so only Celestia can take him there safely. He decides to take this chance and go visit his lost home. He wouldn't be leaving forever, just for a while. Still would be sad to watch him say goodbye to the mane 6. Having a one on one with each girl, reminiscing about the moments they've each shared with him. Seeing him say goodbye to Twilight would be really heart wrenching. Those two have been together for such a long time they might not be able to picture life without each other. There could be a montage off all they've been through, including moments from when they were younger that we've never seen before. So much :'(
  21. Yeah having Iron Will as a female character would be going against the norm. It would definitely stand out to have a muscular woman putting on a seminar about being macho. If Diamond was a guy he would probably be similar to Draco from Harry Potter.
  22. It could be possible, but it would be difficult to change their genders. Plus they still lack personality. The problem with those three is that they were made to fill roles in a plot, which all happened to be gender specific. Cadence was created because they needed a character who's a pink princess, which requires being female. She had to get married, so Shining Armor was created and thus had to be male. All those two have done in the show so far is play those roles, and because those roles are gender specific it becomes one of the few traits that defines them. The only other thing that defines them is that they both know Twilight, which ends up making them satellite characters. I understand that the writers had these two forced on them, which would explain why they haven't done anything to expand on either of their characters. Personally I'm disappointed in them for taking the easy way out and simply having these two serve their purpose and then be discarded. It would take more work, but the writers could give more 'who' qualities to our royal couple. Shining Armor did get some expansion in the comics which I enjoyed (Cadence did not, unfortunately). Iron Will and Diamond are actually not hard to gender bend, as their genders don't have anything to do with their character definition. Diamond is defined by being spoiled, rich, snobby, mean, aggressive, and a bully towards others. Iron Will is defined by being very assertive, putting on a good, effective show and developing a self help seminar. None of those things are gender dependent, so they don't fall into that trap.
  23. Nicely said. I've always believed that the trick to writing a good female character is to not think of her as a female, think of her as a character. That's why our mane 6 work so well. In fact you could change their genders and it wouldn't have a huge effect on their characters. If Twilight was a guy he would still be an OCD bookworm. If Fluttershy was a guy he would still be a shy individual who loves animals. A good character is defined by who they are, not what they are. That's why other characters like Cadance, Shining Armor and Flash don't work out. They were created with the 'what' in mind, not the who.
  24. I like to think they are more intelligent, civilized dragons out there somewhere. I noticed that in "Dragon Quest" all the dragons had wings, and Spike doesn't. There may be different races of dragons, like how there are different races of ponies. They may even be in a similar situation that ponies used to be in, seperated and fighting amongst themselves.
  25. So far we don't know anything about our two pegasus girl's families. I think it would be interesting if one of them were estranged from her parents. I'd like to go with Fluttershy for this example. Let's say her mother died when she was young, and the grief from it caused her father to distance himself. He recently had some kind of epiphany, and wants to reconnect with her. Fluttershy's having a hard though, and her being introverted isn't helping either. Applejack would be a great supporting character for this plot, what with her being so family oriented. It would also be a good chance for AJ and Fluttershy to have a bonding episode, which they haven't had yet (Bats did not cut it for me). It could end with Fluttershy not being able to accept him as her father yet, but willing to start building a friendship with him. And over time she hopes that maybe, one day, she'll consider him family again.
