      The cliche is that the housewife will tell their partner that they will go play "tennis". In reality they're with their lover. That excuse is used so much that it's a cliché. That's what it is. :D So when you said that you're 'playing tennis' with 'a friend', it might sound like an excuse for fucking your lover. This sounds even more obvious with the whole 'Seems like a tradition in the making.' part to it. xD
