They didn't ruin it, they offered a certain style of dubstep that the media liked, but the Sound Hounds in their basements did not.

That's actually kind of true. Due to his extreme popularity, the focus has shifted from the actual Dubstep scene to the Brostep one. Because of this, plenty of well known and important Dubstep artists have either been inactive or started making House, Disco or Grime instead

As long as the noise in my headphones liquifies my mind, I hold no bias.
