  1. I just "love" the people who try to redefine science as that which is observable with our own eyes. Yup, seeing is believing. Never mind that bullshit called mathematics, I mean, just what the hell has THAT shit ever proven, amirite?

Do I even want to know who was saying this to you, Thrashy? I have a religious extended family so I do hear these sorts of things sometimes, but I can only wonder who was saying it takes faith to believe in scientific theories based upon multiple research experiments and successful test runs.

When I first saw this BS claim, I thought it was just one isolated case of ignorance. But quite disturbingly, it turns out there are quite a few Christian YouTubers (and commenters) who like to cry "ha, that's faith!" on scientific principles that are not easily observed by the naked eye. Usually it's as an argument against evolution, but no matter what it's used to argue against, it's ignorant and a massive affront to critical thought.

What I find interesting is that the entire point of science is to eliminate faith and replace it with being as close to 100% as possible. Yes, there are scientific "truths" that are only 99% percent of the time true with that 1% outlier, but that doesn't mean they are based on faith. If a scientist has a belief that something is true they form a hypothesis, which could be thought of as "faith". But then they test that "faith" by actually testing it through experime...
