  1. Nah. For as many differences as there are between men and women, we're all just human beings at the core. Though our differing biologies do indeed affect some of our behavioral processes in certain (more often than not, subtle) ways, I'd say that both genders have a more-or-less equal disposition toward undesirable behavior traits such as shallowness, unfaithfulness, etc. Really, because each of us sees the world differently based on our own experiences, it all boils down to whom you ask: Ask women, they'll tell you men are all cheating pigs. Ask men, women are all cheating whores. When playing the blame game, you can rest assured that both genders end up the loser. It's not a question of the nature of men, nor the nature of women, but rather human nature.

Those with privileged upbringings certainly see the world differently than those of us from a more humble origin, to be sure. The fact that my own family struggled to stay above the poverty line throughout most of my early years really helped me to turn a sympathetic eye towards the less fortunate, instead of ridiculing and blaming them for their own situations as the extreme conservatives tend to do.

...I'd better stop before I get too political. Politics suck. X)

Yes, that is far too often the case and it is not just "extreme conservatives" either as it become quite easy for some to rely on the government to do everything without even realizing that the more the government intervention the more poverty there is in the long run. I will admit I never thought I would become a liberatarian but once the TARP bailouts happened I slowly began to realize just how much big government was harming the poor. Politics truly does suck but unfortunately thou...

  4. So many ways to slack off at work on this fine, slow Friday with no supervisor in sight. Forums, NC episodes, doodling ponies...the possibilities are just endless!

  5. Yeah, there definitely seems to be a bit of a prevailing mentality that there's something "wrong" with quiet folks, at least here in the States. I used to get the same kind of treatment from people who thought I was some kind of psychopath or 'ticking time bomb' simply because I never really talked to anyone outside of my small circle of friends. I guess the thinking behind it is that if you're quiet, you're shy; if you're shy, you're timid; if you're timid, you're a doormat; if you're a doormat, you lack ambition; ambition drives this great nation of 'MURICA, therefore the meek only slow progress and should accordingly be shunned. It's really kind of bullshit, you know...can't a guy just be left to his own devices? Anyway, I adapted to society's crap-factor as I got older - while I don't exactly consider myself a social butterfly, I'm at least not half the Fluttershy I used to be. I'm kind of a loudmouth around my best friends, which is to be expected, but around some of my more "casual friends" I do my best to maintain a personable and comedic aura. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. When you get right down to it, I'm still a man of few words, as I'll often fall silent once a conversation runs out of steam since I'm absolutely lousy at coming up with interesting things to talk about on the spot. But, all things considered, I'd rather be a person who can enjoy a comfortable silence without labeling it as "awkward" than to be some oily mannered, silver-tongued car salesman who feels the need to force social interaction where it's not really merited.
  6. Only my first round of Christmas shopping and already my wallet's silently weeping in the corner of the room...

  7. Hey there. Read your profile, saw that you love Star Wars and play metal, then decided we had to be friends. :3

Good decision then ^^ If You wish to talk about one of those things my mailbox is open ^^

  8. Ah, yes, kimi sparkles. I sat through about 10 seconds of one of her reviews before she spouted off some egotistical nonsense about being "the only pegasister reviewer on the Internet", at which point I was just like "Aaaaand I call bullshit." *clicks to other vid* So yeah, I'd believe anything people say about her rattling off nothing but nonsense. And for the record, our own Pink Mist is a far better "pegasister reviewer" than she is, IMO. Just sayin'.

  11. This has the telltale signs of a troll article. I'll be the first to admit that even by troll standards, the humor here is pretty tasteless, given the seriousness of eating disorders and how often people's lives are destroyed by them. But there's no way I could believe that any person - man, woman or otherwise - could possibly be serious in holding the viewpoint expressed in this article. I mean...I know humanity has hit some pretty low points, but that would just take the cake.
  12. I've been a big fan of German, Dutch and Russian for quite some time now. Not sure what it is about them that pulls me in, but I like the phonetics of each language, even though it's pretty widely agreed by English speakers that guttural languages are "harsh" or "ugly" sounding. I suppose one of the things I find fascinating about Russian is the Cyrillic alphabet, which overall just looks more badass than the Latin alphabet IMO. If I could learn any dead language, it'd be Anglo-Saxon...Latin can bite me.
  13. Known for being one of those "goldmine o' wisdom" posters.
  14. I love you because you love Applejack. And that's all I really need. </jk>
  15. My ponysona Thrashy is, of course, based on me: The long, brown mane and goatee reflect my own hair/facial hair; teal coat because it's my all-time favorite color; and bass clef CM reflecting my inner bassist. The only design choice that's uncharacteristic to me is the orange eyes, which were originally brown like my own, but the brown eyes didn't look right with the brown mane. Plus, orange contrasts nicely with teal IMO. As for any of the other OCs I've created so far, it's mostly been a case of "design 'em as I draw 'em", meaning I have no clear-cut vision of the final character before I put the pencil to the paper aside from their sex. Some may see this as a poor way to design characters, and perhaps it is. But for the least, I'm always surprised and pleased with the end result.
  16. Wow. Just went for a walk and saw a rainbow halo around the Sun…it's like Dashie's watching over me. Heh. I guess the real world really *can* be full o' wonder at times.

haven't seen a rainbow since i got into mlp, but when i do i'm totally going to think of rainbow dash lol

If you ever find yourself doubting that the world is full of wonder, take a real close look at a flower-that is here for a few days at most, yet is more beautiful than anything man can create.

  17. Righty-o, guess that's everything. Suppose I'ma pull the trigger on my grand reformat now, which I have no idea how long it'll take, so...see y'alls when I see ya.

  18. I'm sorry to see you go, man. You were really one of those folks whose posts always commanded my attention, even before we were friends. It's hard to convey through text just how disheartening it is to know that a handful of intolerant, ignorant members are responsible for making you feel so unwelcome that you feel the need to leave. A sad truth is that there'll always be a few bad apples who like to spit in the face of the civility and tolerance that keeps our collective sense of community intact...I've encountered a few myself, so I more than understand the urge to get away from it all. That said, I'd more than like to stay in touch, so expect a Skype add from 'The Thrashy One'.
  19. Sheesh. Spent over an hour waiting for Best Buy to email me back when my order was ready to pick up, and it turns out they sent it 15 minutes after I placed it. Stupid gmail and its multiple tabs. >:(

    1. Thunderchild

      Thunderchild

So-you ordered and paid for it online, then went to the store to pick it up? All the convenience of shopping online, with none of the convenience.

    2. Thrashy

      Thrashy

Yeah, pretty much. XD Even when I got there, the girl at the pickup area didn't know what to do - I actually had to open up the confirmation email on my phone and let her see my order #. My screen shut off on her at one point, so she must've seen my Pinkie wallpaper when she tried to flick it back on. Kinda uncomfortable, but...eh, what'cha gonna do?

    3. Thunderchild

      Thunderchild

You gotta be you man. Seriously though, in this day and age they should have their act together a bit more than that. That had to have been quite a shock to her though-expected Snaggletooth the Warpig, got Pinkie pie.

  20. I'd be lying if I claimed I didn't have a potty mouth myself, but I usually only swear to express general dismay at something bad happening to me...interjections like "son of a BITCH!" and the like. Rarely do I direct oaths at people I'm angry with; if I'm going to tear someone down, I'm going to do it the high-brow way, making them feel stupid by using vocab that's beyond their grasp.

  21. Forgive me if it sounds like I'm making any sort of general statement about your character, because that's not my intent, but it seems as though you're placing more emphasis on the physical attractiveness than personality. Someone needn't have "boobies" in order to be attractive (otherwise, girls with A-cups would never find love ) - all that's really necessary, for many people, is having a great personality. And I don't think anyone can argue that the characters in the show don't have that.
  22. I'm sorry that didn't help. I guess those who get it get it, and those who don't just don't C'est la vie.
  23. Both. Champ pretty much worded it exactly how I would - I find girls with great personalities attractive. These mares are, essentially, just girls with great personalities. The fact that they're of an equine form is of absolutely no issue to me. Pretty big difference between horses and the ponies in this show, if you think about it. No one in their right mind thinks an actual horse would be attractive; they're just animals. MLP's ponies - with sapience that enables them to have speech, wisdom, cultures, ideals and philosophies - are just as far removed from their feral roots as man is, and thus I see no reason why attractions wouldn't develop between our two intelligent species. Just my thoughts, though...hopefully that gives you a bit of insight as to the how/why of some bronies' attractions towards our favorite rainbow equines.
