  1. My faith in humanity is like a rollercoaster. Seeing something like this definitely brings that faith to a low point: http://www.today.com/news/waitress-denied-tip-gay-lifestyle-gets-flood-support-2D11603655

Was that really even necessary? So this person dosen't agree with homosexuality, fair enough but leaving a smug passive aggressive note like that is just wrong.

    3. Thrashy

      Thrashy

Yeah. I guess I could understand not leaving a tip if they were just your run-of-the-mill tightwad customers who never bother tipping anyway, but to find no value in someone's hard work simply because you don't agree with their harmless lifestyle? And THEN let them know it in such a backhanded manner? Way to treat a former Marine.

  2. Anypony else beginning to see some ads of a more, shall we say, intrusive nature starting to pop up around here? I'm all for supporting the site, but I'm *really* not sure I like ads that follow me around when I scroll up and down the page...let alone flash obnoxiously.

What are you going for with this song-kind of a Marvin Gaye meets Chet Atkins? Or something a little more easy listening?

...Well, I wouldn't know the first thing about writing such a bizarre hybrid of what, R&B + rockabilly? Nah, I'd say it's beginning to sound more like Megadeth meets...Megadeth. XD

    4. Thunderchild

      Thunderchild

Ah-so more towards the Difficult listening genre. Big fan of Megadeth btw-looking forward to checking this out.

  3. Why can't I brohoof this a million times? WHY? I mean, hot damn, guy, you've got just about everything I have and way, WAY more. I think the only department I've got the upper hoof in is the blind bag figure sets, and even then I'm sure you're soon to catch up…not to mention surpass me, since my only real interest is in the sets and not the actual individually bagged ponies. I did get a bit of pony swag for my birthday, though, so HA - one (microscopic) step closer to matchin' ya! Now that I mention it, I really ought to post some pics of that stuff later on.
  4. It's becoming clearer and clearer lately that MLP Forums is not a good place to be an AJ fan... Not gonna lie, I wouldn't exactly grieve if Angel were to be taken out of the grand equation, if you know what I mean. I'd mourn over dropping an ice cream sandwich longer than I'd mourn Angel's sudden...disappearance from the show. Still don't think it's likely to happen, though.
  5. Ah, the good old days - when vidya games actually expected you to have reading skills beyond that of a fifth grader.

      I like guns too...hell, last time I went to a shooting range I found out I was a fairly decent marksman. But…why so many goddamn GAMES where you blow shit up in the 1st person? WHY AREN'T PEOPLE TIRED OF THIS YET?! ;_;

...And yeah, swords are pretty badass. Takes quite a bit more strength and dexterity to be a swordsman than to be a gunman, I'll say that much.

    3. Shanks

The sad thing is there were a lot of great shooters back in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's but these days it is like they stopped trying with that particular genre. This is why I like the Metal Gear Solid series because it takes the good parts of first person shooters and adds a stealth mechanic as well as a very interesting albeit sometimes hard to follow story in the mix.

    4. Thrashy

      Thrashy

I've never played any of the Metal Gear games, strangely. But I do like SWAT 4 for the methodical approach you're required to take in order to succeed in a mission - really, you're expected to take as many criminals into custody as possible, and are only permitted to blow someone's head off when you've been shot at. Tactics!

  6. Maybe it's just my Californian-ness shining through, but I actually liked Rocket Power... Anyway, I can't think of any '90s toons I could label as the "worst", but I can definitely slap the "vastly overrated" label on Ed, Edd n' Eddy. It's often touted as the most totally awesome '90s cartoon, like, EVAR, man (even though it was more of a late '90s/early '00s thing), but I respectfully disagree. Was too loud and obnoxious, and had arguably worse animation than Peanuts. ...I know, I know. Burn the heretic. I guess the only other thing I found myself changing the channel with was Ahhh, Real Monsters! for some reason. Again, not terrible, but I found it pretty boring and I found the voices of Oblina and Ickis to be...well...ear sodomy at its finest.
  7. Now here's a very level-headed take on what it means to be a Mary-Sue...and by a fellow brone, no less:

    4. Shanks

      Shanks

Now come on there is no need to talk bad about neutered dogs like that, it is more like a pile of turds festering in the hot sun and when they finally dry out fresh turds are added to the pile.

  10. I'm kind of ambivalent about this, myself. Yay that I don't have to go out of my way to pad out statements that only take a brief sentence, but it still was a good tool for discouraging folks who only signed up to spam the shit outta the place. I'd have opted for a min that diminishes as you ascend rank (i.e., as you prove yourself capable of making meaningful posts), but I'm not a coder, so I don't know how difficult such a system may or may not be to implement, so...
  11. I don't see any reason to alter the comedic dynamic of the show - clearly, it works. Puns aren't for everyone, I get that much, but I submit that the show wouldn't have gotten nearly this far if it weren't for its current brand of humor, so I see no need to up and change it now. Whether you find puns in general endearingly cheesy or outright cringeworthy, I'd say they're probably here to stay. And that ain't no horsin' around.
  12. I hate how I'm too nice to say "no" to people sometimes. Got a fairly sizeable art request from some random dude on dA which I'm sure will take me a few weeks. X)

I know that feel. But as you said, it all helps you improve-and dude obviously likes your work, maybe you'll end up as friends after all.

  13. Yeah, the whole 'liking girly things = gay' thing is not only a load of BS, but in many cases, it couldn't be further from the truth. In the case of FiM, we have a cast of six females who are not only strong (each in their own way), but all possess something that's nearly unheard of in male-oriented shows: Genuine personality. Sure, there are plenty of female characters in male-oriented shows who are portrayed as strong, but often at the cost of not giving them any kind of real character development or relatability - they just come off as bitchy "token strong chicks". FiM's heroines, I actually find relatable...hell, I even find Rarity, the antithesis of masculinity, relatable on multiple levels as well. That's what makes the show so excellent, and that's why I'd take a 'girly' show featuring genuinely developed females over 'manly' shows and their vapid bimbos any day of the week. So yeah, dun' impact our sexualities in the slightest. Shit, if anything, I think it teaches straight men to appreciate women for their intrinsic worth, not the superficial BS.

  15. Without any hyperbole whatsoever, I can honestly say that this blog post is by far the most spot-on, sincere, and well-deserved salute to any underappreciated character (or heck, any character, period) I've ever read. It's positively brilliant from start to finish, and if this straight-from-the-heart assessment of AJ's character doesn't make you her number one fan, then your only competition for that title would be...well, her friends. ...Stay awesome, Sugar Cube!

Mostly I'm referring to the pony stuff I've uploaded recently - it's gotten quite a few more favorites, collectively speaking, than any of my older stuff. With one exception, of course - the stamp I made saying "I support giving your OCs non-Japanese names", which has over 1000 faves and counting. I'm glad so many people agree with that message, but...jeez, I have other stuff too, y'know?

    3. Thunderchild

      Thunderchild

I've got to say-Flurry's still my favorite. I dig the other stuff too tho-you've definitely got a talent.

  19. Haven't really seen many racial slurs or anything of the sort around here, but I have encountered my fair share of general rudeness, a lot of which I think stems from people treating their opinions as absolute, infallible truths, thereby making anyone who criticizes their opinions (even in a non-confrontational way) an enemy. It's gotten to the point where I feel I have to preface every opinion I post with "IMO" or "it's probably just me, but...", just so that I don't seem like I'm one of these folks who puppy guards their opinions as if someone's coming to take them away. Believe it or not, my own opinions can be quite flexible as long as someone is willing to back up their arguments with evidence that'll make me question my own stance. That's not to say I've never gotten sharp or rude with anyone, but...let's face it, when I do, it's usually because the person I'm arguing with is dealing in absolutes and generally being - how do I say this without it being antagonistic -"very disagreeable and closed off to alternative points of view." But I've found that fighting rudeness with rudeness only seems to invite trouble, so I've been trying my best to take the high road lately...the key word being "trying". I may or may not be doing a particularly solid job of this, depending on whom you ask.

Dude, it's either you or the spider, kill it! Kill it now or you'll die! I bet it's preparing an attack, it may crawl up your neck and paralyze you then the spider will eat you up from the inside while you're still alive. I don't know dude, you'll become a place where spiders will live at or something.. Just burn the place already! lol

I know, have you ever looked into their eyes.. They know everything, they are in the corners watching you.. Planning, I wouldn't be surprised if they could make traps as well. I'm telling you, kill it before it's too late. Hopefully the spider isn't intelligent or you're screwed. D:

  22. Ah, this reminds me of high school and how I used to doodle in practically every class. Too bad I can't really afford to do the same in my college courses. XD Anyway, these are actually really good. Kudos on developing a style beyond that of the show - really wish I could forge my own unique look, but for now I'm stuck reproducing the show's style. One day, perhaps.
  23. Sweet God, what a positively long and tedious day. But at least it wasn't as bad as Christopher Lloyd's day.

  24. Am I the only one who's kind of pleased that YT commenters are being silenced while Google gets their shit together? Again - YT commenters - the bane of the Internet, being forced to shut up for a brief period. Does this really strike no one else as wondrous?

Those concerns only seem to have an adverse effect on people who actively upload videos on their channels. For people like me, who are strictly viewers, not being able to comment (which would only contribute to the random bullshit that the average YT conversation is comprised of, anyway) is a small price to pay as long as I can still view videos.

Now, when YT tries to force me to have a Google + acct. just to be able to watch videos in the first place, THAT's when I'll be...

    4. Thunderchild

      Thunderchild

I've never had an account, so I don't really have a dog in the fight-the comments section seems to just be a magnet for trolls-'Oh, you posted a vid of a kitten being cute? I hope your family dies in a fire'. No great loss to mankind.

  25. I have thought about this before, believe it or not. As cute as Sparity is, I don't think it was ever intended to be anything more than just an infatuation on Spike's part. And of course, there's the age difference. Sure, some will cry "But love knows nothing of age boundaries!", but I dunno about that in this case - it's quite the gap, you've got to admit. Besides, I just find the thought of Sweetie having a crush on Spike (and essentially being invisible to him since his his eyes are glued to Rarity) to be a pretty cute direction to take that particular story arc... ...And then the harsh realization kicks in that Spike's not only going to grow too gigantic to make a feasible partner for any pony, but he'd far outlive Sweetie if dragons in this world do indeed have extensive lifespans.
