This may not be any form of official event, but it is a celebration in my perspective.
4 years ago, I was a simple, lost soul, cast out by the castes of a very stringent society. I was lost, with not much else to live for. I wasn’t accepted by any group of people. Nobody lent any helping hand. For once, there was an experience of true loneliness.
It wasn’t until this fandom reached out to me did I ever think I was worth anything more. But even then, things were never easy. For the years that followed, there was an ever present specter of not belonging. No matter who I turned to, I always left a little more hurt, a little more shattered. Even those that people would call on, turned their backs in the end. From those who tout themselves “leaders” to those who call from the right of religion, there was no true sanctuary.
With each attempt, the pain got worse. Anguish was all that was left of an empty husk I dared to call myself. Collecting mental illnesses and pills like bank statements of dealings gone wrong. With every step, the severity increased. From behavioral therapy I followed the path, all the way to the strongest trauma medicine legally allowed for a somewhat sane human being.
I resigned myself to my fate. I felt and knew that in spite of the many accolades that adorn my walls, I wouldn’t count for anything in the eyes of people.
But there was hope yet. After collecting my next set of ever stronger pills, it all finally made sense to me. “Trauma”. Trauma isn’t a thing that is self inflicted. Its something that happens to you when the circumstances are terrible. There is absolutely no reason for me to think I am some disfigured reject, and that the world as one sees it can be wrong, and not the ultimate authority. I didn’t take a single one of those pills. They still sit here, unopened. The clarity the labeling offered was far greater than the medicine inside.
It was then I realized that there was only two groups of people who were ever consistent in my life. Even as teachers and authority figures and peers came and threw me aside, my family and this fandom, these bronies, all of you, are the only people who stayed by my side. Each time I tried to end it all, my thoughts flew to my family and to you lot, the only tethers that kept me anchored to the world of the living. And yet, all this time, it was a thankless task for those who helped. I was irritable, with endless parades of demands. My stress and anxiety would catch up to me and I would lash out. I never felt that bronies did enough to help.
And yet people followed. Followed along in unwavering support.
From this, is when I realized that some thanks were in order. So I did. I rejected every school and social event, knowing that would earn me nothing but pain. I took the money and got commissions to share. I took the time to learn to draw, and build a collection of art to thank those who helped, and to assemble this modest celebration that is here today.
Now as I graduated from high school and finished my final exams just days ago, I felt it would be fitting to pay tribute to the people who have seen and protected me in this difficult journey till today.
And so I title this simple thank you celebration “Hope”. For all that this fandom and all you people offer in every shape, manner and form. Keep doing what you do. You may not realize the hope your simple existence offers.
And so below are the little tributes of art I made and commissioned from other artists. Hope you enjoy.

These are some of my drawings I tried to learn to make for this day.

Typh left the room and the castle holding an official seal, along with a nice large sack of bits.
The deal he arranged with Celestia was to form a PMC corporation with his new advances in defence technology, which would report to the Princesses directly. How he would make money is through accepting contracts from the government, and the royal order he carried on that official parchment allows him and his company to develop and train personnel, and maintain a stock of weapons. With the papers and the money, he went to order the first office of this new corporation built. He chose a plot of land not too far from Canterlot, but far enough along the mountain range that it would be hard to access to unauthorised.

Typh spent the day recruiting staff. He found that some other shared his sentiment of an ineffective Royal Guard, yet still had the drive to protect their homeland. He found 4 ponies during his search, Stormblade and Seawind, who were earth ponies, Misty, a pegasus, and Amber, a unicorn. They were all he was able to recruit before he got his first contract. They were ordered to rescue a town from a changeling invasion.

However, the travel was made far more difficult by the relatively new force, whose equipment drew the attention of anypony who was even remotely affiliated with the Royal Guards. They stopped the group to question their painted over Guard armour and the rifles slung on their backs, to the point Typh pinned the royal decree to his chestplate so that anyone can read it and stop asking questions. Due to the delay, by the time they got to the town, it was already ransacked, with most of the town’s residents having been drained of love. Most of the changelings had left, except for a small group that was finishing up with the rest of the town. The nearest changeling was quickly brought down by the rifle pulses, demonstrating its effectiveness. However this success was quickly overshadowed by the remainder of the changelings now alerted to their presence. As they prepared to deal with the changelings, the fatal problems with their group began to show. With their use of Guard tactics, the group began trying to corner individual changelings, which would have worked should they have been in a large group like in the Guards. In this case, all it did was to split up the group. The rifles quickly lost effectiveness, since they needed to load rounds one at a time, no good for the fast moving changelings.

With the group cut off and scattered, they took shelter in buildings, hoping to weather out the changelings. From his vantage point of the town hall, Typh watched in horror as Amber was spotted and promptly dragged out onto the street, kicking and screaming. Unwilling to let his ponies suffer the fate of the townsponies, he charged in a fury, tackling the changelings and swinging his rifle like a bat. However, it wasnt enough, and he was quickly brought down too. As they were about to be sphioned, the rest of the squad, encouraged by Typh’s actions charged and attacked the changelings hand to hand, which they managed to succeed in, stunning the changelings once they gained control. Afte a freaky journey with unconcious changelings back to Canterlot, they collected their pay, dumped the changelings in the dungeons. They then met in a Ponyville cafe to discuss the mission and detail what went wrong. Each pony seemed to have a differing opinion. Typh felt they shouldnt have gone with just prototype weapons. Stormblade felt that they should have thought of more applicable tactics. Misty thought the failure of communcations was critical. Seawind thought that better armour and protective strategies needed to be in place. Amber felt that it was necessary to have a proper base to operate from.

With all the input, Typh stopped the argument. He realised that they were all right in their own way, and that each aspect was vital to running the PMC properly. So he decided that they should take a fith of the money they got, and use it to further their aspect of the company. So each member took their share and went their seperate ways for the moment, determined to make a difference.

After some time spent in his home tinkering with the idea of magic containment and redirection, he realised how magic in different forms can be contained and used for different purposes. In due course, and with the help of some of the local unicorns, he learned to trap stun spells inside containers and release them at will in a device. He immediately realised the potential of this to aid in the security of Equestria, by being able to contain any kind of weaponised spell as a weapon.

However, he didnt believe that he should deliver the technology to the Royal Guard. His opinion on the Royal Guard didnt improve over the months since he left. However, he knew that he wouldnt be allowed to harbour such a technology vital to Equestria's defence. At a loss, he went to Canterlot and waited in the Royal Court to seek the Princesses guidance.

He patiently waited for his turn over the course of the day. When he got the opportunity to speak to Princess Celestia, he put forward his idea and showed her the prototype weapon and the contained stun spell. When he finished his lines, Celestia's demeanour was different. She signalled to the guards, and they escorted him into the hallway with the Princess. Typh was genuinely afraid something terrible would happen to him, and was one of the most terrifying experiences he had. Walking along the empty hallways with two guards behind him and Celestia in front. They reached a large conference room in the castle. There, Celestia questioned Typh, about how he discovered such an idea and how he was able to create it. Typh told the truth, and said he created it from his thoughts on magical energy as well as his training.

Celestia then questioned why Typh didnt wish to hand it over to the Royal Guards, seeing that defence matters were their domain. Typh was scared of such a question, and couldnt give a coherent answer. Celestia asked Typh again, but this time, Typh kept quiet. With no choice, Celestia ordered for his service records to be pulled up for her to read. Typh sat there quietly as the Princess read the file, scared of how the situation might turn out. After finishing, her look changed again. This time, she seems more intrigued. She ordered the guards out, leaving just the two of them. Celestia told Typh that she could guess why Typhoon was so reluctant to present to the guards. Typh could only nod weakly. Princess Celestia then asked what Typh was good at. He listed down his interests and talents, economics, sciences, keeping ponies safe. Once again, the answer intrigued Celestia even more. She then noted that Typh was a capable leader. This confused him. He never saw himself as a leader, more as a radical.

To prove it, Celestia read out a summary written by his Commanding Officer, the same one who dismissed him multiple times in the Changeling invasion. He noted that Typh may not have followed orders, but had his own unique brand of asymmetric logic that defied systems and rules, just simply attacking the problem at its source. With that, it dawned on Typh that he was, in fact, a leader himself. With this, Typh came up with another idea, and offered it to Celestia. She listened intently, and agreed to the idea.

Well, I am putting this up as a recommendation from people who found my story of how and why I am such a hardcore brony interesting. Well it is storied, but...never mind. I will just let it speak for itself. Helps me too since I dont have to re-type it everytime someone asks. Its a mouthful.

So my journey started in April 2011. It all started one day, when a couple of the original bronies in my school wanted to turn me into a brony, since they thought it would be funny for a studious scientifically minded student to do an about face.
One day, I was leaving my maths class when I head someone call me out. I turned to look at this bunch of people with headphones, computers, speakers and phones. Somehow I knew this was a bad omen, and I started to pack up quickly. I had heard of this brony phenomenon, and I wanted no part in it. But then I heard this saccharine music being played which I correctly assumed to be the theme song. I stuck my fingers in my ears and closed my eyes as they tried to show me the videos. It was a real challenge, packing your bag without seeing, and with your elbows. I took off running down the hallways, just trying to get away from this small but ideologically dangerous mob.
Next day, English class. People around me just so happened to choose to talk about ponies non stop, and I just wanted to avoid them. So I just stayed in a corner of the class and tried not to think much of it. Another day, in the science class, one brony comes and sits next to me and starts working out a deal to bribe me into watching the show. Nothing doing, after all, I didnt want any part of it no matter how much money was on the table. And another day, I was chased around again with the raving mob wanting to indoctrinate me. Everywhere I went, it was just one bribe, deal or flat out chase.
After a while, I was curious. My mind, being the scientific one it is, couldnt fathom what could drive people to such great lengths. I went to take a look at the first episode to just see what the fuss was all about. I remember just curling up at the sugariness of it all, and I finished the episode. Two parter, so I watched the other half. By the time that was done, I wasnt curling up to it. I didnt mind it.
And so each day, I watched a new episode. Slowly but surely, over all of April I watched the whole first season, and then I realised that...I was now a brony. But I didnt want people to know they won, so I acted a little like a hater for a while. Just getting irritated at anyone who asked.

This was until the pivotal point in August that changed me. At that time, I was in a lot of problems. I had a lot of very nasty teachers. My friends started to ditch me one by one. My family were always busy. As it all started to fade away, I got sadder. Lonlier. I was getting bad news and shoutings every day. One turning point was during an English project, where someone in my group did something dumb and got us all into big trouble for very little. It was incidents like this during English, Maths, PE that started to get to me. Then, when my final friend decided to cut all ties with me, I snapped. You feel that cold embrace. You see it grip your heart, and you know that there is very little anyone has to do with you. Panic attacks had nothing on me like that. It was a cold, dark, painful thing, and then I get this notion I should show everyone what they did.
I climbed the stairs, to the 3rd floor I remember. I wanted to just jump and get it over with. I originally went to the 3rd floor with the intention of the suicide attempt to be non fatal. I wanted to land on my feet so I would survive, and would just shock everyone into caring more about me. But when I took the steps onto the balcony, I looked behind to see a few groups of people. Standing by, and doing absolutely nothing. That was the time my faith in humanity just....broke. I was about to jump off, and nobody wanted to do anything to stop me. Nobody ran for a teacher. Nobody came up to tackle me or talk to me. They all just sat there and watched, content to see someone die before their eyes and do absolutely nothing to avert their eyes or do something to help. As if they wanted to watch someone die. That was the fatal change, I wanted to land headfirst, to die and escape such a cruel world. But when I took a step off, someone called out to me. Someone grabbed me. Someone did that, when nobody else wanted to. I screamed and hit at whoever it was, I didnt want to live in a world like this. A world where a death is just removing an inconvenience. But when I looked up, there he was. A brony. The only person in a crowd who would step out to save someone. The religious, the stuidous, the student leaders, the righteous, none helped more directly than that brony who saved me. He brought me to the counsellor, he looked after me, the bronies made me a place in their community to care for me when nobody else cared. They nursed me back to health. The next year, I participated in the Google Science Fair 2012. I turned out in the Regional Finals but didnt make it to global. I turned out as one of the top minds in South East Asia. I remember, I promised the bronies that if I made it to the global finals, my speech would thank the brony fandom for what they have done.

So I helped in a different way, sitting by and never leaving the fandom. As I said to people, "Why I owe my life to the fandom is because they have given me a blessed new life. People who want to ask about the normal, gentle and naive self I was before 2011, I will just say that he died. He died when everyone who supposedly cared left him, he died when he took the step off the balcony. The bronies have given me a different life. It is still painful because of all the problems I have, but....they gave me a new life. And for that, I know this life isnt mine to keep, because it never would have existed if the bronies were not there."
So even today, I keep an eye out for my friends, be they brony or not. Because I believed the best way to thank the fandom was to do the same thing that the brony did for me back in 2011. Which is to step out and save your life, when nobody else would do so. To put all judgement aside, and to put your life above my own, to carry that spirit of friendship, acceptance and selflessness that the show teaches us. And so I have. For friends, I have argued with the UK Metropolian Police, and messaged UNICEF to no end. I have taken my crushed confidence and fed them to others to help them grow strong, and offered the little kindness spared to me to keep them warm. And all this from a "children's show".
So what I will say is this; A children's show it may be, a thing for little girls to dream of. A fandom of deviants it may be, a community of those who have "no life". A childish ideal it may be, a place where anything goes. But it does good for people in this world, if only people open their hearts to it.

Money in Equestria is interesting. As of the the most recent episode, all of Equestria accepts the bit as the universal mode of trade, whereas most human countries will make a new currency when they are even slightly different. But its interesting to ask where the bit came from, since we see its use since the old times from ponies like Granny Smith.

My suspicion is that the bit is a fiat currency, created to keep all the races of Equestria equal and happy. Let me explain. The way gems exist in Equestria, I suspect they were originally used as a manner of trade, just like humans did with gold. Its hard to find, nice to look at, and is a lot more useable than the barter system, even though that still exists in Equestria. However, when things become money, people will try to circumvent the system in order to make themselves a whole lot wealthier. Since technically the more you find of it, the more powerful you become since you can obtain more things. This is where I find the problem. Unicorns and Alicorns, with their active usage of magic, would be able to identify and collect gems quickly, making them the wealthiest of the bunch. This supports their original ideology as a aristocracy, shown in the founding of Equestria, since they did technically have a lot of the money.

Before you ask about why they fought over food just before the founding of Equestria, the answer is simple. Money breaks down in times of crisis, since supplies have to be rationed. Thus, it didnt matter when the Windigoes came, everyone was on their own when it came to food and survival, money wasnt a question. It could also explain why they were, I quote, "Starving and freezing" in contrast to the Earth Ponies and the Pegasi, which only had one of said problems each. Maybe they over-relied on their stocks of gems, that they kept no actual stocks of firewood and food. Also addressing the potential barter system the Earth Ponies had in order for safe weather and the Sun and the Moon cycles from the Pegasi and Unicorns respectively, it comes back to the valuation of goods and services. How do you value one day of clear skies in terms of food? And what about the fact that you need good weather to produce food to begin with? Some form of credit must have existed, promising a certain amount of food in exchange for perfect weather for the year. This would have been the foundations of a currency, the promissory note.

Back to the explaination. The Earth ponies would not need to care about finding the gems, since they would simply be able to produce the goods that the rest of the ponies needed. The unicorns would have to use the gems to trade for food and materials that the Earth Ponies are so adept at obtaining. This explains the fact that a lot of Earth Ponies have professions in trading and selling, considering that is the skill they would have needed to get the best value out of their goods, ingrained in their culture from the beginning. They would then use these gems as payment for good weather and the shifts in night and day.

The Pegasi would need to focus completely on controlling weather. Any kind of mess-up on their part would result in failed crops, and tension between them and the Earth Ponies. This could be behind the reason all Pegasi value their physical strength so much, since they needed a lot of workers to manage their vital service, which is good weather for the Earth ponies. They would have been paid in return in the crops that were produced. This single-industry centric culture would thus have been created, like the Weather Factory in Cloudsdale, and the fact that they conscript all Pegasi to help in major weather events, like Winter Wrap Up and resupplying the Weather Factory with water, as per Hurricane Fluttershy.

This kind of system would have worked fine, except that ponies wouldnt be too happy with the Unicorns, who take on an Aristocratic role and just simply raise the sun and moon, but otherwise just use their gems to get everything else they need. This would carry on past the founding of Equestria, until someone can make a change in this original system. Enter the Alicorns. Since they represent all races, they can make changes without causing undue harm. Thus, one thing they might have done is to make a fiat currency to replace gems, since nobody had anything to lose from the switch. The Unicorns are fine being there, since they would have a lot of wealth through their gems. Many years of trading through gems means they could have built up massive cities and massed stockpiles everything, so losing the gems wouldnt be that harmful. The Earth Poines and Pegasi wouldnt be unduly upset, since they now would have more control over their currency instead of it being managed by a single race.

And thats my headcanon on money in Equestria.

Typh carried a lot of emotional baggage going into the Guards, and not surprisingly, wasnt too comfortable with the idea. He hated authority and orders with a vengeance, but was about to join the one place where these two things were in abundance. However, he didnt really have much of a choice. He needed to earn a living, and he had no talents anywhere else. He may have been well-read, but he certainly was not a practical pony.

From the first day in boot camp, he hated it all. He counted the days till each major event like a pony in a prison sentence. Drills, orders, Sergeants with overinflated egos. Alll of which did not bode well with him, and such frustration did earn him more than one extra duty when he vented. However, the final graduation day from boot camp did arrive, and Typh was glad that it would be the end of his worries. He followed through with the marching routine he was drilled a thousand times over onto the parade square, and stood by as the ceremony continued. He got his rank patches, and was happy enough to have gotten something, but still wasnt too enthusiastic about his deployment; Ponyville. He wished it would be somewhere he knew, and he swore someone did so just to irritate him even further. But from the moment he walked out the gates, family in tow, he saw how ponies reacted now that he was a full Royal Guard. Some older timers gave salutes. People spoke in hushed whispers. Some mean comments, but some laced with respect. People recognised that he was now officially somepony whose very job is to help others.

When he was deployed to Ponyville on regular patrol duties, he began to see his role in a far better light than he did before. In one instance, he walked up on bullies ganging up on a young colt. The mere sight of a Guard in armor caused the group to turn tail and scatter. he helped the pony up and asked what happened. "Im Sugar....Sugarhoof...they were teasing me about my name...." At that point, once again, he felt his trademark buildup and burst of emotion. He looked down and asked, "Where do you go to school?" The colt pointed to the Ponyville schoolhouse. Typh put Sugarhoof on his back and flew straight there, a look of determination on his face. He was deaf to the shouts of his squad, asking him to come back. He was set on a mission and was about to complete it. He walked in with the colt to Cherliee, who was shocked to see one of her students escorted in by a Guard and feared the worst. Typh explained the situation that Sugarhoof was in, and demanded that the ponies responsible for his bullying be dealt with swiftly. He then left the schoolhouse to a very angry squad, who got chewed out since Typh just simply vanished from patrol. This did nothing for Typh since he didnt care much for authority, but he felt it was worthwhile to go out of his way to help the colt.

In spite of his antics, Typh had a sense of initiative that was not seen amongst many other Guards. He responded to situations almost instinctively and was always helpful to the public. Owing to public opinion and his initiative alone(Typhoon spent more than one weekend confined to barracks for stepping out to help, leaving his squad in the process) he managed to work his way up to the rank of Sergeant. At this point, he had a squad to tag along with his escapades. However, he still got in regular trouble for leading his squad off track to respond to whatever situation occured. He tolerated the management of the Guards up till the Changeling invasion.

On the day, he was on patrol with his squad, ordered to keep an eye out for any trouble. At the edge of the city, Typh noticed a few changeling scouts that were there to probe the city for weaknesses. He reported to his superior that there were changelings approaching the city. His CO dismissed his concerns, claiming the Captain's shield would be more than enough to protect from the invasion.
Of course, Typh was not settled by the response, and proceeded to leave the city limits to scare off the Changeling scouts. His squad were too used to his antics, and stayed within the shield limits. However, when Typh scared off the inital scouts, he noticed the full Changeling army moving in. Typh rushed to tell his CO of the approaching trouble, to which he was dismissed again. Suitably irritated, Typh flew back out to see the Changelings starting to break the shield. All the other guards were lining up to repel the invaders when the broke through. Typh would not take that, and reasoned with his squad that it would be pointless trying to stop them in the city, and it would be best to take the fight to them while they were busy. However, his squad refused to listen to him, taking orders from the local officer.

At this point, Typh was far too concerned to think, and charged alone out of the shield to attack the Changelings. Predicatably, one pony was no match for an army, and he quickly got smiled and stuck to the ground. He spent the rest of the siege trying to keep Changelings from siphoning his love, kicking and screaming like a maniac until the magical blast got rid of the Changelings. Immediately after the invasion, he was court-martialled for disobeying direct orders and was sent to a detention barracks. This made him lose respect for the Guards, and he opted to retire from the force after serving his sentence. With a little string pulling from his parents at home, he was allowed to have an honorable discharge from a friendly officer. He still keeps his guard armor and Sergeant epaulettes with him.

However, this meant Typh once again had no job. With his savings, he couldnt hope to afford a place in Canterlot, so he got on the train to Ponyville to find a place to live. There, he spent some time thinking and tinkering with things, just like he always liked to do. One day, he turned back to look at his studies concerning magic, and had an idea. He got some scientific equipment together, and began testing his theory.

I just thought that after holding onto Typhoon ever since I became a brony back in 2011, I should log his backstory somewhere for safekeeping. And for others to see.So here it will be. It may be long or short, I have no clue as of yet. I will just trace his general story from start to end..

Typhoon was born the lone Pegasus son of two businessponies in Manehatten. Unlike a lot of others, he was slightly above average in his station in society due to his parent's occupations. This meant that as he progressed through schooling, he found that the way he thought was very different from the rest of the ponies around him. With his exposure to the world from a very young age, he thought of concepts far beyond those of his age. Very few ponies thus understood him, and he found it difficult to ever get along.

Later on, as he progressed through the education system, he found himself always thinking too far ahead. As such, he was never really the one to top classes, just hanging around the middle. He burned time looking around and questioning the world. But it was also during this time that a few people joined him, respecting the fact that he had different views. These became a close knit group of friends he would always treasure. With his equivocal views of things, he got to know ponies of all types, all trusting him not to judge.

This led to a major issue that would change him. One day, he encountered an issue where two of his friends were in disagreement over a similar issue. With his equal view of things, he saw no side to the argument, but found his friends taking sides. As the argument got more heated, they eventually turned to him to resolve the issue, seeing that both sides felt he was a good mediator. Typh tried to explain that both sides were wrong in how they reacted, but they piled the pressure on, demanding a straight answer of one side or another. In the end, he fell back on his base instincts and sided with the group who was initially hurt then fought back. He felt that they were people who had lesser fault, seeing that they had tried to avoid the issue at first. Infuriated by the decision, the other group marched off, and Typh felt awful as he had lost a lot of friends that day, all solely through a decision he made.

The next day, Typh and his friends were called into the Principal's office. There, they were told that what they did was against the school rules, even though it was a simple argument. It dawned on them that the pony who started the argument had exaggerated to the administration that he was being targeted by a group whilst he was alone. He felt extremely conflicted by his choice, as even though he never meant any harm and was pressured into taking sides, the repercussions were far greater than ever expected. He looked to see that his friend who was the initial victim taking the brunt of the blame, to the point he was broken and wailing. Like a shock, there was a sudden wave of clarity and drive in him, and he was overcome by a wave of fury. He tackled the other group out of the way and stood indignantly in front of the Principal, refusing to let anything more happen to those he chose to protect. Insults rained on him as threats and punishments aplenty, but he ignored it all in the fury, taking the brunt of the force in place of his friend. In that moment, his cutie mark flashed into existence on his flank. A shield with crossed bolts of lightning. The appearance of the cutie mark stopped the arguments as everyone was curious to find out what the mark meant.

The presence of the shield emboldened Typh's initially victimised group, as it was the symbol of protectors and defenders, often the cutie mark signalling Royal Guards and other forms of law enforcement. In spite of these revelations, the group was still heavily punished by the school. After the fury and rage wore off, Typh sank into a depression. He thought of the prospect of his cutie mark and his name, being apt descriptions for an unpredictably aggressive person who does plenty of damage. In due course, unable to cope with the facts, he blamed himself for all of the things that transpired. his friends started to leave him, one by one, unable to cope with the level or ridicule Typh's outburst gave them. It reached a point where he was alone again, and was contemplating ending his life. He felt that nopony would miss him, and that it would be better to remove himself as a violent risk. But what came along was something unexpected. A group came to rally around him, trying to protect him in his time of need. His heart was warmed by the kindness of the group, and eventually recovered.

However, the actions left an indelible mark on his character. From that point on, he was distrusting of any authority figures, and felt that he needed to blaze his own trail. From that point, he was a complete rebel, preferring to passively oppose people's attempts to exert their will over him. This formed a unique personality that many criticised, as many still questioned why a destructive rebel has a shield in his cutie mark. As time went on, his fears were even more entrenched as the situations he encountered just served to reinforce his fears and thoughts on how people in power tend to abuse it. This carried on to his graduation from college. At that point, Typh was unsure as to what to do with his life. He had pursued nothing in particular, taking an arbitrary course in magical studies in spite of being a pegasus. Somepony approached him and recommended that he should follow the trail of his cutie mark, and become a Royal Guard. Knowing nothing else he could do, he went along with the plan, enlisting soon after.

Magic in Equestria is a very interesting and strange concept. Unicorns can use it extensively, and it affects Pegasi and Earth Ponies in their daily tasks. It is also present in creatures and all throughout Equestria, which leads me to wonder, what is it?
Alright, its going to get real complex past this point, so apologies.
Ok .Energy in this context I would say is the ability for something to do work. Heat energy is simply the energy of vibrating particles, kinetic is movement, doing work, chemical and nuclear are stored forms of heat and light, which both excite particles into moving, and thus doing work. Simple enough.
Why I would say Magic is a form of energy is is what it does. It primarily does work too. In terms of Pegasi, it appears to provide some form of ease in flight. This work done against the gravity of the planet means that work is being done to counteract the force. For Earth Ponies, it appears to supplement their biological strength. For unicorns, the skills we see so far are primarily levitation and teleportation, which is all about the movement of matter, once again fitting this definition of energy. In addition to this, it seems to be used in some machines too.

How this energy is generated appears to be inbred into every single pony from birth. It is an essence that appears to be only with ponies and nothing else. Now, the energy theory cannot explain the varying traits and the fact that it doesnt just float around in the air and can be refined and extracted. Thus, I have a theory that would be a little insane.

Its a cell, coded with a special particle that provides this magical energy, which is then manipulated by the cell to create differing effects. I would think this particle would be sort of like the Higgs-Boson. The particle istelf is nothing of remark, but the field surrounding it provides matter with mass. Similarly for this "Magic" particle would be generating a "magic" field around it. This could then be manipulated by the cell to provide differing effects, and the manner in which this manipulation occurs could be coded into the pony gene pool as the different races.

How this cell and associated particle would work, I have a theory. This particle is everywhere in Equestria, just like the Higgs Boson is in our world. However, this cell in the equine system is able to concentrate and manipulate these particles and their associated fields. It could potentially resonate these fields to create a sort of magic wave, similar to an Electromagnetic wave from the EM spectrum. At particular wavelengths of these fields, it can interact with other particles, and be transmitted through the air or whatever medium it encounters. These can then be concentrated on particular particles for certain effects.

Thus, using this, ponies can interact with their environment in ways they cannot see. For Pegasi for example, they could be inducing a high frequency magic wave, which could then interact with the air particles. The heating due to the induced energy could potentially either create air drafts, or mechanically push them upwards by the expanding air. For Earth Ponies, their interaction could be biological. Their cells could be inducing waves as a more powerful form of metabolism, where energy is transmitted directly to the particles in their muscles, which then can be converted back and used in some ADP-ATP reaction catalysed by this magical energy.

Then...the unicorns. Its still fits under this theory, even though its more complex.
They are able to levitate objects. Something that does not have these specialist cells. There is one possibility. Induction. Just like Electromagnetic Induction, this makes it possible that the energy is induced in the object, creating this same levitating ability of pegasi without having these particular cells. Thus, it would make the unicorn horn...essentially an antenna for this energy. A site of Magic field induction.
Transmutation is a little more difficult, but still explainable. It could be a complex form of atom smashing. Basically, its the forcing of two particular atoms together to form a new one, using the attached Magic sub-particle. By inducing it to collide at high speeds, fusion essentially takes place on a quantum scale. The heat blasts from failed magic is easily explained in this theory. Simply, unordered directional induction of this energy would simply heat the particles.
Then....teleportation. Hardest to explain or understand. The pony has to move itself to another place, with all its neurons intact. One possibility is acclerated movement at near light speed to the direction. Just using the particles around it as a heat shield, the pony moves in a vaccum state from one place to another at extreme speeds, and makes that signature blast of magic when they disappear and appear again. Why you dont see them in transit is due to the concept of light speed. When you get closer to light speed, time warps to prevent you from ever breaking the speed limit. Thus, this can magnify the apparent speed of the unicorn in question, making the shift almost instant in your perspective.

Now, I know these theories bank on there being a huge source of energy to use, since all these actions need impossibly large amounts of energy to work even on a single pony. But then again, our universe is filled with dark energy, that we havent learned to tap into....Maybe they have.
