I agree. Lots of great songs on there. It’s one of the best early Beatles albums. They could play pop music perfectly but also really rock and roll. 

I mean, you have the one-two punch of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "I Saw Her Standing There" to kick things off, and it only gets better from there.

I think Capitol wanting to show that the four lads were writing and singing their own material (which very few artists were outright doing at the time), instead of primarily relying on covers.
