@SpookyEmerald @Kyoshi I'm more of a "lore and setting" sort than a "mechanics" sort when it comes to roleplaying (hence why I wouldn't be DM - I wanna participate more directly in the setting).

I mean, just check out some of the lore for both Warhammer Fantasy and 40k. I wouldn't necessarily say either are "gory" (as in there's an emphasis on blood and guts - but this depends on the individual interpretation), but respectively being dark fantasy and dark science fiction/fantasy, neither are exactly...free of violence. 

Playing RPGs on IRC with a dicebot used to be fun.

But not as fun as when you could roll lots of dice behind the GM screen while the party were trying to do something, then look innocent when they asked if anything was happening...

Not a bad idea.
