    The movie was better than I had anticipated. I was actually quite surprised! Even so, I still don't know how I feel about the animation style. It is still 50/50 for me.

      I quite enjoyed the animation for how it was utilized in this single feature length film, but yeah, the Flash will always be the best style for the show.

      I also really liked Tempest. She actually felt legitimately threatening...more so than the Storm King.

      Here's what I said to my girlfriend about why I liked that the Storm King was so frivolous and goofy (spoiler tag for those who haven't seen the movie):

      It fit Tempest's character arc nicely because this guy was basically frivolous about anything except what he wanted.  Her entire arc revolves around the pain she feels from thinking nopony cared about her or what happened to her as a filly, so she should just not rely on others then at all; but then the one guy who's made the one promise she cares about to her, fixing her horn, goes and breaks it like it's nothing and straight up says he used her, and at that point she can either choose being just crushed by it in general and giving up on everything, or taking the unexpected hoof that's being extended to her by Twilight and have faith in genuine friendship, not just "sticking out on your own," once more.
