      I agree that the mom doesn't have a say in what you do with your phone as you are an adult. But...I'm betting what's going on is a "While you live under my roof you will follow my rules" argument which is valid to a degree. Don't think it applies to your cell phone use though. So you might just want to look into moving out.

      Recently helped upgrade my grandfather when they switched companies. My grandmother has had one for years. He picked it up pretty quickly though.
