  1. Never underestimate a good trip to the beach.

  2. Until she shows some form of commitment or dedication to the community, I won't classify her as a brony. A celebrity needs to do more than just pose in pictures with ponies and the like. If Lady Gaga outright stated that she likes the show and follows it, then I would gladly welcome her into the herd, even if her idosyncracies can be grating.
  3. Twilight Sparkle: Depending on how much alcohol she imbibed, I could imagine her as either extremely gregarious or just very mellow. I suppose it would depend on both the amount and the context of the drinking. I suspect she would be something of a social drunk, elaborating on her studies and other esoteric subjects. If Twilight read up on drinking, she might know to pace herself. It can be difficult to gauge the extent of her naiveté. Pinkie Pie: For laughs and giggles, Pinkie would become "normal" when drunk. My preference for Pinkie is not so geared toward the arguably predictable. Given her preference for sweets, Pinkie might prefer alcohol mixed with fruity, sugary drinks. Therefore, Pinkie would probably become exceedingly excitable, dumping the few inhibitions she normally retains. Fluttershy: The comedic contrast for drunk Fluttershy would be for her to become loud and expressive. In my opinion, however, she would probably either refrain from drinking or would be a drousy drunk. Applejack: I suspect that she has had exposure to liquor and alcohol, if the Apple Family apple cider is any indication. AJ is a physically tough country gal, permitting her to down more alcohol than the usual mare. When drunk, AJ might be chatty and painfully honest in all of her observations; as Silly Lily mentioned, I could also imagine AJ engaging in drunken competition quite readily. Rainbow Dash: I woud be she is a speed drinker, quickly tanking up before inebriation hits her like a tidal wave. Dash might violently oscillate between being a gregarious, playful drunk and being self-destructive and hyper sensitive. In other words, when combined with a sloshed AJ, it could be a powder keg waiting to explode. Rarity: A lady would never let herself be overcome by alcohol. Rarity would therefore rarely if ever get herself totally smashed. When intoxicated, Rarity might remain very sociable, albeit she would probably be a chatbox.
  4. Knowing the way things tend to work out, they will eventually have a MLP Google Doodle. Unfortunately, it will display a bunch of G1 through G3.5 ponies. The popular media refuses to use G4 in their promotional pictures for articles on the show.
  5. "A Dog and Pony Show" is on today. One of my favorite episodes.

  7. I'm with Neikos: an adventure story would be great. The two part episodes were also adventures rather than slice-of-life narratives; it would be difficult to have a movie revolving around a lesson of the day format. Besides, all good stories involve a journey, whether literal or metaphorical. The Mane Six traversing their world beyond the borders of Equestria would be a nifty set up, I think. The movie would have the liberty of time to elaborate on aspects of their universe a 22 minute episode cannot. I would hope that the adventure is coherent and meaningful. For example, The Simpsons Movie incorporated an adventure into a show that is generally a comedy situated in one setting (Springfield). Unfortunately, that meant the movie could feel incomprehensible or forced at critical moments. Even if its for comedic effect, it lacks a sense of narrative rhythm. In other words, I wouldn't want the Mane Six running around Equestria or beyond for the sake of doing so. If you can't tell a meaningful story in 90 to 120 minutes, then don't gloss it up to make it appear more meaningful. MLP: FiM demands a little more attention than a basic adventure story where nothing is learned by the end of the tale. Narrowing the focus, clearly there would have to be songs. Musical numbers have become the backbone of the show, a standard for animated excellence in a period when songs are treated more like filler than storytelling devices in animation. The wonderful thing about MLP songs is that they paint the picture for the audience in an engaging way. To have a MLP movie without a song would be a glaring distraction, not to mention a missed opportunity. The show is ripe for a movie. It has a literally colorful cast, supremely talented voice actors, wonderful writers, and a sharp crew of people working on the little things which make MLP a pleasurable experience. I would be rather confident that they could create a feature length movie worth watching. The interesting thing to look for would be how much of the film would be geared toward an older audience, i.e., bronies, versus the target audience of young girls. It would be a heck of a balancing act.
  8. They seemed to have a passing awareness of each other at most. Pinkie Pie likely befriended the other four, at least in a distant, amicable manner, since she claims to know everypony in Ponyville. Pinkie also invites the four to the surprise welcome party for Twilight. AJ later mentions in "Feeling Pinkie Keen" that Ponyville is familiar with Pinkie Sense, so Pinkie is likely the most well recognized of the group before Twilight arrives in Ponyville. Other than that, they don't seem to be terribly familiar with one another. The first few episodes are dedicated to exploring their friendships as they blossom (Pinkie: "Well duh!"). "Look Before You Sleep", "Fall Weather Friends", "Griffon the Brush Off", "Green Isn't Your Color"---those episodes are the ones which demonstrate most explicitly that the Mane Six are still getting to know one another. EDIT: Derp. I forgot that Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash knew each other from flight camp. How did that slip by me?
  9. The Wonderbolts do fly on their own. If you're referring to the apparent trails of smoke they leave behind, those are actually clouds (often thunder clouds), akin to Rainbow Dash leaving a rainbow in her wake. The Wonderbolts were also called upon to save Rarity from Spike when he grew into a enormous dragon in "The Secret of My Excess." Therefore, they must have a function similar to the air force---or are at least recognized as being able and agile enough to potentially rescue ponies in need. (I say "potentially" because twice they failed, and both times involved Rarity requiring saving.)
  10. It's sad to watch Ashleigh Ball descend into complete madness, talking to her imaginary alter egos as if they were real. The world has truly lost a tremendous talent.
  11. YouTube Poop: Where there's smoke, they pinch back. As DeveloperPony could tell you, I used to be heavily involved in the YouTube Poop community. While I wasn't there from the very beginning, I remember when folks like MrSimon and Stegblob were releasing videos on a regular basis (and good ones, I might add). How the times have changed.
  12. This, more or less. Insert Gummy into any pairing and it instantly becomes the most ridiculous thing you have ever witnessed.
  13. Truth be told, I never noticed the time limit between posts. I frankly am uncertain how you could post so quickly in a standard conversation (not in some Cloudsdale spamfest) that you would incur the limitation. Also, can we actually have a 100 word minimum for each post? It would be great to see everyone effectively writing a third grade essay each time they posted (e.g., "My Summer Vacation: I Watched Ponies").

  15. Blame it on "Griffon the Brush Off." The episode revolves around Pinkie Pie vying for Rainbow Dash's attention, becoming jealous when Gilda enters the picture and begins to hang out with Rainbow. Although the welcome party which eventually leads to everypony---including Rainbow---turning on Gilda appeared to be a matter of happenstance (Rainbow claims to have set up the pranks, not Pinkie), it is Pinkie who ends up effectively getting what she always wanted: Rainbow Dash's undivided attention. There is speculation that Pinkie more or less set up Gilda so that she could humiliate her in front of Dashie. As it turned out, that is exactly what transpired. There is also the added "bonus" of Pinkie calling Rainbow Dash "Dashie", a nickname no other character uses for Rainbow. Because it is uttered in an endearing fashion, it sounds a lot like a pet name one might use with a more intimate partner. Combine "Dashie" with Pinkie's sudden obsession to hang out with Rainbow and you'll have a lot of fans shipping them the next day. In short, Pinkie Pie comes off like a possessive girlfriend. Take Rainbow being practically compatible with anyone in the the eyes of shippers, it is easy for a number of fans to make the dots and connect them. As the series has progressed, both Pinkie and Dash displayed rather fragile psyches: Pinkie is desperate to keep her friends; Rainbow Dash has a self-confidence issues. Shippers tend to be attracted to "damaged goods," so to speak, and shipping them together can allow for a variety of stories. It never feels like too much of a stretch for Pinkie Dash to exist. They clearly have a common interest in one another, and both are capable of either acting in a vulnerable or supportive capacity.
  16. Just an aside: I actually don't believe you need to worry about spoilers, Mana. "It's About Time" has long since been released, so a regular follower of the show will have more than likely watched the episode. It may be helpful to remove spoilers so that members are not afraid they might stumble upon more sensitive spoilers, e.g., season three spoilers. If you prefer, you can keep the spoiler tags; just know you are not obliged to do so.
  17. The ebb and flow of interest in most any subject is bound to occur. For instance, The Matrix is probably my personal favorite film; but I don't think about the movie all the time, nor do I find myself repeatedly talking about it. With MLP, it's a little easier to re-engage because the series is on going. The fandom is also fairly large and active. That helps me retain my interest even in the midst of a lull. When season three begins, I'm certain MLP will be back the forefront.
  18. Excuse me. My bowels just became a bit too loose. I'll be back when I'm in better shape to present myself. This thread title spooked me. Seriously. A bit misleading much? With all the tension regarding the 13 episodes and the magic number of 65 for the series, this was not the thread title I wanted to see. I think it's due for a little tweak. That having been said, I would be equal parts confused and devastated if they cancelled the third season. They bothered to advertise for it, but now they just dropped the project entirely? And undoubtedly the cancellation would mean the series would have ended---unless they picked it up later, for some odd reason. All in all, it would be a double whammy and a half.
  19. That made me chuckle a bit. Although I'm certain it wasn't your intent, "spreading the friendship" sounds like some sort of fascist euphemism for conquering other countries. Kidding aside, it does seem as if they're going to emphasize the story more than they usually do.
  20. This had better not end like SatAM (Sonic the Hedgehog on Saturday mornings), where the final season effectively left everyone in the lurch. I hope there is a method to their madness, and that this isn't some ploy to get to the aforementioned 65 episode mark. Regardless, 13 episodes will trasnslate roughly into three months of ponies, leaving us with a sad Christmas present. On the other hoof, it may be an indication of a major story arc rather than episodic "slice-of-life" episodes. It's a weird play. I wonder where they are going with it.
  21. She does not, however, work for Canadian intelligence. If she did, James Bond would appear in her house to conclude Quantum of Solace.
  22. Then again, the Royal Guard were rather useless in the battle. The Changeling army still overwhelmed Canterlot within minutes, threatening the civilian population with near impunity. I suspect the Royal Guard are in small numbers, limiting their ability to counter large forces. Given that Equestria is rarely attacked by any significant force, it stands to reason they don't invest a great deal of resources in a large standing army.
  23. Rainbow Dash: "Why do we fall, Scoots?" Scootaloo: "So we can get back up." You know, it all comes together when you think about it.
  24. Strained my oblique. Now I know why hitters go on the DL.

  25. More or less what Wormtail said. DHX Media is located in Canada, and that is where the principal work is done on the show. There are only one or two exceptions: first, Tara Strong is located in California, requiring her to record separately from the rest of the cast; second, Hasbro is American based, so major internal discussions have to be routed through the States. I've read some speculation that this geographical set up was partly why Lauren stepped back from directly overseeing MLP; in other words, the distance made it difficult for them to rapidly communicate ideas. Whether or not this is the case, Tara is still with the show (obviously), recording her lines as Twilight in her home studio, receiving comments from the DHX Media crew, and eventually sending the recordings over for final production. Canada generally has a strong presence in the voice recording industry. California and, to a lesser extent, Texas also have a large number of voice actors and studios. That is why you'll find a lot of professional voice actors are of Canadian nationality. Even Tara, though she lives in the United States, was born in Canada. (On a separate note, I only recently found out that John de Lancie was born in Philadelphia. The more you know!)
