The plant is haunted. I'm sure the lime silo suction fan was off when I first went out, but it was on later. And there was no reason for anyone to turn it on. And that's not the first time I have seen it do that.

Wait, I'm confused here.
Pardon my bluntness, but you seem to be skeptical, usually, when it comes to the supernatural, and now you're saying this plant is haunted?
Whatever, but here's a bit of trivia :3
Human ghosts typically aren't ones to do these things unless there are people around. They typically want to catch someone's attention. What happened here is probably a dæmon, Fae who happened to find its way into the industrial side of the city, imp, yokai possibly? Some kind of being who would get a kick out of seeing the look on your face after seeing something out of place.

"Haunted" is a word I don't really like. I feel like it dehumanizes beings who are, usually, just passing through, or have perfectly good reason to be there. Once, a little pixie came through my wall on Samhain a couple years back, and they didn't do much. It just fluttered around. I talked to them, they responded in strange ways, but I think they enjoyed the company. Then it left, and it didn't really do anything manevolent, persay.
So are you there now? Little tip, keep an eye out for spontaneous flashes of light. Moving in the higher planes is weird in that way, but to put it simply, if they're moving quickly or using a lot of energy at once, these bright sparks of light can manifest.
If you see something like that, yeah, there's something going on.
You'd probably know if it was a dæmon, those things are physically intense, and they vibrate low enough for most healthy humans to know when one of them is there, even if they don't know they're sensing anything. You'd feel off. I have a friend who's into dæmonology, so I happen to know this stuff.
