  1. Year-old entry, I know, but just felt like reasserting my agreement on the matter.

    Thing is, you can have realistic looks and a bland story, but with a creative twist. Deadly Creatures is an example of this - who would've thought of making you a fucking ninja tarantula fighting mantises and palm-size wasps and a rattlesnake? Likewise, things you find interesting in Epic Yarn, make me obsessed with Okami as well - with a bundle of Shinto legends and tales as the story, mixed with some Western references (such as the Celestials' physical appearance).

    Oh, and your talking about a flower reminds me of

  2. I think it's a matter of people jumping to conclusions and confusing the smallest thing with its extreme form. Like how Muslims get mixed up with Islamists (Islam does NOT equal Islamism), Atheists mock all of Christianism because of the actions of a few fundamentalists, gay/bi people are considered hypersexual and polygamous because anyone who doesn't speak is assumed heterosexual, newborn boys are circumcised because of a small number of uncut men with poor hygiene habits, men are all viewed as potential rapists and murderers (while nannies who rape pre-teen boys walk away) because of a few men who assault... the list goes on and on.

    I often see people (mostly conservative Catholics) praise suffering, call any act of eating "greed" unless you're starve, and any sexual intercourse "lust" if it has anything besides vaginal penetration.

    And about clothes. What's up with them?? They're itchy, restricting, and generally a nuisance. They should be outlawed!!

    If you wanna be called out every time you have a boner or stain your seat every time your period starts (depending on your sex) then sure thing.

    Also I hear women also get "tit-boners" when aroused... or when it's cold. Good luck trying to explain yourselves to horny dudes on a cold subway ride, girls. C:

  3. Drawing realistic shit is hard, so is imitating any established art style.

    Anatomy is particularly painful, especially extremities and proportions. Believe me when I say I can't draw muscular or thin bodies, despite years of (occasional) practice I only managed to learn chubby.

    Even if you practice continuously, it can still take months to get the basics right, and you'll still improve as years pass.

    Keep trying, keep trying.

  4. Remember how much I complained about YAF, the forums I (along with Feld0 himself and Viscra) used to frequent before coming here? Yeah, they did that a lot, too.

    Got me angry, then blamed everything on me, and me alone; when I suggested to at least share the responsibility, they refused even that. Also accused me of causing drama - while specifically searching for my past posts just to mock them, and continuing to spite me for over 6 pages after my last message (15 posts/page, that's nearly a hundred posts without a word from me).

    ---- WARNING: LONG RANT ----

    There was one particular asshole who'd flame everyone who disagreed with his opinions. Many of the older members took a liking to this habit he called his "pimp hand".

    His bitches (not afraid to call them that because of how much they sucked up to him), called his targets "thin-skinned" for getting offended after persistent flaming and harassment.

    And wouldn't you know, every time he caused another member to lash out and return the favor for once, that member was banned and not him (despite forum rules overtly stating both parties were responsible in case of flame wars).

    I was pretty much the only one who ever had the courage to call him out more than once in a blue moon. For that, I became a "smug dick" and a "drama queen".

    Which is pretty hypocritical, because one time when I reported his obnoxiousness again, one mod told me "You think [username] would ignore you?" That was a pretty good giveaway of their double standard right there - he gets away with anything because it's "him" all the time, but I'm guilty for saying "enough is enough" and deciding to take action.

  5. It's hard to not really belong in either group. Somehow both sides are constantly looking up excuses to cast you out, and you either have to pretend all the time, or get used to being on your own all the time, or even go back and forth between the two.

    It hurts me to know you're being pushed into rejecting your heritage because of the ignorance and stupidity of others.

    I don't see why you'd be forced to go to the mosque to be a good Muslim, or have the same interests. That isn't the point of Islam, nor of any religion actually, but it's simpler to just say "you belong to this group, so you must behave exactly the same way and have the same mentality or skills" and "you don't look and think or act like that, so you don't belong in the group".

    That's the basis of pretty much every single kind of discrimination, like Islamophobia and "Turcophobia" (which I had to deal with in France, because I'm Turkish). Fetishization is also a result of it, but that's just annoying and not harmful.

    I didn't know the truth of the Sharia Law... but it doesn't surprise me to learn it has nothing to do with Islam. Plenty of allegedly "religious" customs (like dressing codes, how women are seen as inferior or boys are circumcized) are actually simply cultural habits, confused with religion because they were spread along with it (or were mentioned in sacred texts, being a part of those times' customs rather than eternal rules).

  6. saying you are a clopper =/= disclaiming material you find arousing in great detail

    That's like saying "don't claim you're a bear because it'd be showing in people's faces your love of bondage and leather and domination and-"

    "Clopper" and "furry fetishist" are categories of people who are into certain types of porn, REGARDLESS OF THE KINK, featuring CERTAIN KINDS OF BEINGS.

    Saying you clop, or fap to explicit furry art, is NOT describing your sexual tastes in detail and shoving it in people's faces.

  7. I actually think your supervisor had the right reflex. I've found evidence of employers and supervisors who weren't so lenient, even with medical conditions for which you have a note.

    As for you, well, I don't know what the problem is, so I can't help. But you need to determine why you've been feeling that way, see if you can get help (professional or not) and work on improving.

  8. I didn't know this. Saying "I'm disgusted by cloppers so I don't consider them fans", it sounds like the opposite extreme of "I'm disgusted by cloppers so I quit the fandom altogether".

    But yes, I completely agree with Popsickle Guy, if I interpret him correctly.

    If being into the porn means you CAN'T enjoy anything else, then by extension, only asexual humans are people. Since enjoying sexual content in life means you only care about sex, so you aren't part of life.

  9. Yea, it's not very clear what you mean by "talk about their work".

    Like, is it our current projects? Or our genres? The kind of character/creature/race we're most comfortable with? Amount of description vs action? etc.

    I'm curious in any case, but I need to know if it's the sort of topic that interests me and would contribute to people's writing.

  10. Cute, hehe

    Also the last one's first and last verses are both pentameters. XD

    I especially like the rhymes, always have in general;

    To flow well at all times, let's try not to be too liberal.

    But must we be Shakespeare, I find it a bit oppressive;

    That's not quite where I steer, it makes me depressive.

    I actually prefer to compromise, even to improvise like this;

    And I would like to emphasize, reading such poetry is bliss.

  11. REALLY LATE REPLY TO POSSIBLY OUTDATED BLOG

    uhhh

    I dunno if this applies to the people you're talking about, but

    To me, sending an invite means implicitly asking you if you can. If you don't have time, then ignore it, simple as that.

    From your answer to Roop though, I imagine some of them don't see things from the same perspective. Those aren't friends then, and as others said, should be removed.

    But the others, the ones who invite you without explicitly asking BUT don't get mad at you for refusing... they aren't being rude, they're just saving time, even if it's just a minute.

  12. Cuz uhhh, it's ridiculous?

    I mean, exaggeration and misunderstanding are very common themes in comedy. And that's exactly what propaganda is all about - making the negative sides of the enemy stand out, and even adding fictional ones.

    Except propaganda can be persuasive enough so that, even after hostilities are technically over, the people still believe it. I know of such a tall tale, but I'll keep it to myself, because it's very difficult for Western cultures to accept.
