  1. I personally don't care for talking over the end of a song. Much better to let the artist finish up whatever they had to say before butting in. However, fading the beginning of the song in while finishing up a thought doesn't bother me. That's less like an interruption and more like ceding the floor to somebody else. I think the demo is good at showing you have a suitable voice and "feel" for this kind of thing, that is, you don't sound out of place or awkward at it. In between tracks it might also be good to discuss the work or the artist a bit, like they commonly do on classical radio stations. Maybe give a little context for the listener, like what was popular in the music scene when the piece was written ("Remember when 'Discord' started to replace 'Luna' as the most popular Eurobeat Brony track? Around the same time, Such-and-Such was just breaking into the community with this next piece... "). Having musician interviews, either live, recorded, or read from email exchanges, might also be a good way to fill up time between songs if you find yourself needing to pad the episode out a bit. Plus it could make the podcast more podcast-shaped and less like a pre-recorded session of streaming radio. I agree that an outro would be good to have. For music that has a slow build-up, the one that comes most readily to my mind is Dear Sister Moon by Silent Night. If you don't really NEED the slow build, this instrumental piece by Mysterious Bronie could serve well as an outro. You might also consider the occasional plug for pony.fm or eqbeats, to draw both content creators and consumers to those kinds of sites and resources are available to them.
  2. Since I haven't been able to repeat the problem lately, that sounds good to me!
  3. And again on another Carbon Maestro track. FLAC stopped at 17.6 out of 44MB downloaded. ALAC stopped right at 24.6 of 25.3MB. Both files just stopped progressing and then eventually gave up with no error message.
  4. Just got hit by this again with the FLAC version of Carbon Maestro's Shipping and Handling cover. It stopped around 15.2 and 16.8MB during my two attempts. I was able to download the 15MB ALAC file without trouble, and converted that into a working mp3 file with foobar2K. Perhaps it was over before a problem could crop up. The MP3 file downloaded fine from the site.
  5. Yes, I've since tried it with other FLAC files and lossy albums zips. On Saturday and then again on Sunday I tried to download this album in ogg and mp3 format. The album's tracks seem to be complete when I extract and play them. Sizes don't quite match up with what's posted, but I figure that's just a difference in the way the website, browser, and file manager round out the decimal places. Tuesday morning I was able to grab the entire FLAC file of this track. It was complete, sizes matched up, it played fine, and everything. However, as a test just now I tried to download the album The Pony Empires Complete in mp3, like Sky Chaser. My download stopped after only 83.5 of 189.1MB, with no error message. Neither 7-Zip nor Windows can open the zip file, so it's obviously broken. Then I grabbed the 27MB mp3 and 43MB FLAC versions of Twilight Sparkle's Mind Palace album, both completed successfully. Finally, I tested the 90MB mp3 and 234MB FLAC zips of the Flutterwhat Returns album. They seem to be the right size and extract/play fine. So it doesn't seem to be a totally consistent problem. If you think it might make a difference, I'm also using Bell South as my ISP; probably in about the same region as Sky Chaser. I've been able to download large files from other sites (like podcasts and Linux liveCD images) without issue.
  6. lol you're that guy who does that ATG alumni stuff

  7. Tested with two random recent tracks. FLAC and ALAC downloads begin and proceed normally but halt at some point before completion, only grabbing ~a dozen megabytes. Firefox then throws up a message like so: 'C:\*\Luna -Mush.flac.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. Try again later, or contact the server administrator.' I managed to "complete" the download for a smaller FLAC track, but several megabytes were missing and the track was cut off at the end. Seems the download failed silently. I've been able to grab the full mp3 files for both tracks without a problem. Firefox 21 on Windows 7 64, and downloading over DSL. (Also, thanks for resolving an earlier issue. I really appreciate what this site is doing for brony music!)
  8. Don't know why, but the random tracks I've tried to download as .flac appear with a malformed filename (usually just the first "word" in the name) and with no filename extension. I work around it by filling in the name and extension myself when downloading. If it matters, I'm using the latest stable Firefox on Windows 7 64.
