First Large Scale Greater Toronto Area Convention - Any Thoughts?
Mephala replied to GaleClout's topic in Sugarcube Corner
@@GaleClout I am from (near) the GTA and I'd love to do a meetup there, at least (a convention is a bit hard to put together, and I suspect that BronyCAN, if all goes well, will be in Toronto next year [rather, I hope]). I would definitely go and I would totally be happy to do any job that needs be done (though my talents only lie in P.R. and writing). If you'd like my Skype so you can discuss plans, then please, send me a PM, because I'd like to see this go through. Unfortunately, you cannot expect too much from a first pass-after one, maybe it can expand next year. Try to get local "brony celebrities" first. EDIT: I could also run a panel, but you need panel ideas first. X3 -
They know that making Rarity an alicorn would ruin her absolutely as a character, thus they won't. While it makes sense for Twilight to be one, much as it is idiotic, making Rarity one has no logic whatsoever. 1. Twilight Sparkle is the most magical unicorn like, evar. (Making her a princess sort of ruined that but it's water under the bridge.) 2. Twilight Sparkle was and is Celestia's personal student. It has never been mentioned that Rarity even attended a magical school, let alone has she even really met Celestia except on few occasions. 3. Twilight Sparkle is widely regarded as the main character in the show and has the "best" element of the six (namely it being the most elusive and most powerful). However, Rarity is basically a minor character at this point; I think she has the fewest episodes centered around her (though I have no evidence to back this up) ("A Dog and Pony Show" does not count in my opinion as it only had some scenes with her rather than the majority), and making her a princess as a lame consolation prize would actually hurt the show more than help it. 1. Rarity hasn't done anything to deserve becoming a princess besides being best character. 2. Five princesses is absolute overkill and the backlash against Twillicorn being a marketing ploy has likely made Hasbro more wary. 3. SHE WOULD HAVE TO SEE BLUEBLOOD MORE OFTEN. (gasp) 4. Her character is too complex to be able to develop; most people that write Rarity episodes handle her poorly as a character and make her shallow rather than the stellar mix of personality that she actually is. In short, it's an inane plot twist, and I doubt that anyone would go through with this. As a rabid Rarity fan I would personally be affronted.

searching City of Outcasts
Mephala replied to Alex Kennedy's topic in Everfree Planning, OOC & Discussion
I suppose I'll join, even though knowing me I'll probably get too busy to post after a while. However, it's a fun enough concept, and though I won't be deciding who to use yet it'll likely be either of my pairs (Discreet and Reka or Rubble and Teek). I know I'm using at least two, that is all. (Because I never use one OC, ever. XD) I'll try not to use nine this time. I see what you did there. This pleases my Forsaken obsessed eye (because I had never played a single other race in my previous WoW career). XD -
I make very dark OC's (not in colour, because dark colours in excess look cheesy and they don't mix well, taking away from the physical appearance of your character just as much as excess of light colours does). However, many to all of my OC's are created in an alternate universe of Equestria for my fanfiction. Due to the nature of the "new world" it is not possible that every character is going to be happy-go-lucky. (I think the happiest ones I have are Quinn and Valour, and they're both happy in their evilness.) (I came up with the names before the League of Legend champs, for the record.) However, when creating within show canons, it's not a (commonly thought) good idea to do the colour things (still), as well as it is bad to put too much dark stuff in the story. A little is okay, because no one has a perfect life (show characters included), but it can get out of hand. My main OC as of late, Pluse (see avatar(, is admittedly a bit over the top, yes, but again, she is in my fanfic. I don't think she's perfect at all, because she is certainly flawed, and she was MEANT to be. However, my character Greenery was created within show canon and he's much better-he has flaws but his life wasn't a complete hellhole. I think that's it-flaws. Flaws always add more depth to a character. Whether it be a physical or mental disability (so long as they aren't some crazy war veteran with torn off wings or something) or a trait they can't get over, you want something that you can expound or improve as RP's or stories go on. In the case of my characters, Pluse has to get over her natural carnivorous nature and learn to trust, and Greenery has to learn that he doesn't have to be silent to be polite. Or something. It boils down to what YOU want, though. Don't let people hate even if they may, because the character is for YOU in the end. Sorry for the rambling nonsensical-osity of this post, I am practically falling over.

Paper Song That's all I have, because all the other names I have are ones that I plan on potentially using. (That's one but I freely admit it is probably the worst of them. XD)

gaming Game Discussion: Is Skyrim a masterpiece or a train wreck?
Mephala replied to Geek0zoid's topic in Media Discussion
I play Morrowind as I personally liked it over Skyrim, but Skyrim isn't that bad. It generally gets a bad reputation because people play on Easy and then download a crapton of mods, so there's no challenge, and they complain about there being nothing to do. There are also people that overpraise it, which is just as bad. It's an excellent open world, but it isn't something that changed the gaming scene like Morrowind did. I think people also get mad because it's semi-realistic; the quests aren't over-the-top KILL OSAMA HITLER STALIN TENTACLE MONSTER WITH HIS EIGHT HUNDRED HENCHMEN quests, which, while they can be kind of fun, are mindless and kinda pointless. So yeah, it's not my favourite game, because I'm fond of ones with tons of story and characterization (like Grim Fandango), but it's a time killer, and it's fun as hell to snipe innocent bystanders with the bow or Fireball them off cliffs.- 22 replies

FOR THE #YOLLLLO Today it was horribly hot. I live in northern Canada, it's supposed to be nice and cold all the time. I want storms. Maybe we'll have some, it rained a few days ago.

I smashed my monitor, but I think I ran out of eggs. Mind lending?

Pacific Rim. Entertaining enough but it had a bollocks plot and no characterization whatsoever. However, if some of the soundtrack was orchestral, that would have been really pretty. I like mecha, but it stole a lot from other mecha, so I'm going to have to dock a point and make it 5/10. :3

am I the only Brony who likes Prince Blueblood?
Mephala replied to Mywas's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I really like Blueblood. Most people dislike or tolerate him but he's one of my favourite characters. Considering his upbringing likely being spoiled, I'm not surprised he is what he is. Though I am not a fan of people like him in real life (because really, who is?) I found him really funny, and I hope he comes back!~ -

@@Alex Kennedy Like I said, I can bring another in if you're already using two (which I thought you were). I really need to remember to start using Greenery anyways (I'd probably use him, all my other stallions are messed up. XD) Sorry if this offends, of course, don't want to be impertinent. -

@@Alex Kennedy Hello, there. I'd like to throw myself in, assuming of course, that you'll allow mutants. :3 And assuming you'll accept lil ol' me as well. I'll use Teek (and yes, her name is intentionally spelled in that manner, I did not fail at writing "teak".) If you need more characters I'd be happy to use more later on, or bring in another character that she's visiting with. All with your permssion, of course, your Majesty. :-) <3 EDIT: Teek swings both ways, for the record. -

I've been writing for as long as I can remember, and in any field that I can. While my main focus is poetry and song lyrics I also work heavily in short fiction and novellas. It's been a few years since I completed my second novel but I haven't had the time or effort to get it properly edited. I also write scripts for plays and video games (the latter which I hope to get out someday, even though I am not going into the video game field), as well as any news updates for the sites I work on and for my school pamphlets, etc. I just really will write anything! Currently my main project is a massive scaled fanfiction, spanning the point of views of about thirty characters in three countries (nine provinces in total) with side stories based on ideas and events presented. I am also planning on completing "On Blackened Wings I Soar The Sky", a semi-introduction to this series (related by one link), which is a graphic horror. Once it is completed I hope to, due to the nature of the writing, make it into a "drama CD" of sorts. (Has anyone here read "RANT: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey" by Chuck Palahniuk? Yeah, that's how it's written.) :-)

Please let me nominate my own OC, Pluse. You may find her link on my OC List page under Decarth (she's the second one down, after Braith). I also nominate Hypno by . He's always fun to RP with and he does an excellent job of characterizing him throughout story arcs. He also looks pretty awesome. :-p EDIT: Wait, nuu, I may be too late. Ah, well. :c
-
Ah, what the hell. My OC's usually fail at this sort of thing (I tend to rack on the doom n' gloom due to the nature of the fanfic world they're created in). I'd love if you could do Braith. She is in my OC list under the Decarth area. I'll likely request more later. :-p

OOC --- Note: this RP is private among @Alex Kennedy, , and I. We are not accepting other members, so please do not contact me if you want to participate; you will not be allowed in. Thanks for your co-operation. :-) "But if you close your eyes does it almost feel like nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes, does it almost feel like you've been here before? How am I gonna be an optimist about this? How am I gonna be an optimist about this?..." Bastille - Pompeii --- "Dig harder, you lazy scum! HARDER!" Rain grunted with the effort as she jabbed her spade into the earth, not wanting to face the cat o' nine tails that the driver held in his hand. Metal balls were attached to the end of each tail coming off it, and she had seen him hit a young man so hard once that his spine snapped. Luckily, Rain had never been hit by that particular whip, so her lashings were, though still severe, much less so than anyone else. Even though she had more scars than anyone else she had seen, she knew who to sucker up in front of and who not to. She heard the squelchy thud and scream that came with a hit and she gritted her teeth and strained her muscles. Wings were forbidden to use so they were tied to her back and the rope rubbed uncomfortably, feeling the gyrating body next to her shallowly dig as they tried to do as much as possible before the driver came to inspect their side. Shallow digging was, in the eyes of their captors, just as bad as not working-the slaves tired out quickly and little work was done. Talking was forbidden, but Rain opened her mouth slightly, hoping to get a whispered warning out before the driver could come over. Before she could say anything she was sharply hit in the back of the head and stars swam in her vision as she clamped down on her tongue and tasted blood. She hadn't banked on a second driver showing up behind them. Her pain was so great that she barely registered the slave next to her slumping unconscious and being dragged away for further punishment. There was a sudden commotion across the way and she glanced up to see a mutant being dragged across the muddy ground, looking none too happy. She appeared to be half rabbit and her pink eyes were cross as she was unceremoniously dumped into the mud and thrown a shovel. Blue eyes met those pink. And unspoken spark, agreement, passed between them. Soon, they would talk. --- Teek hadn't had a good morning. She had been rudely awoken by a cuff on the head (as per the usual). She had gotten no breakfast but was sent straight to work (as per the usual). Everyone made fun of her ears (as per the usual, yet again). What WASN'T normal, however, was her movement. As a mutant, Teek was usually a part of the more delicate program; she still had to work, but not in such a disgusting and violent environment. Compared to the treatment of the "lesser" species from Decarth and Gogallt, mutant and rare species were in a paradise. Though where they took her wasn't even close to the bottom of the slave food chain, and already Teek flinched away. Every pony looked hungry and sick, and she saw across the way one get struck as he shallowly banged his spade into the earth, before he was dragged away. The young mare beside him was hit as well, presumably for talking, but she wasn't taken away, likely due to her powerful low strokes. Teek was shoved into the dirt. She felt the tickle of a whip gently touch her back, a warning, and she was handed a spade. Before they were cleaned up, slaves were forced to do hard labour building up camps, and some were even transported around Slavek to work on the city. It was said that Prin, the daughter of the ruling family, had fallen in love with her handpicked butler, but this was likely just a rumour-Prin was a cold soul and she was promised to Braw, the captain of the Delirium military. She glanced up. The mare that had been hit was staring at her with level blue eyes. She had some terrible scarring on the left side of her body, clearly burns, which latticed all over her sides. However, her gaze was clear, and it told Teek something. Teek stared right back at her and understood that there was a like-minded creature, and soon, they would meet. --- The sound of clattering stones made Rubble lift his head from his work. Due to the fact that they were working next to and on a cliff, everyone was on edge-everyone except, apparently, the oblivious pegasus who was attempting to break his bonds, eying the distracted driver every few moments to make sure he wasn't looking. Rubble flicked his eyes up. Boulders were rolling down, about to hit him. He could not speak, for that would give him away, but an earth pony nearby yelled for his attention. The driver looked up, whip at the ready, but the earth pony dove to save the pesgasus, who had looked up too late. By the time he got there it was too late for them both. The rocks caught them and pushed them off the edge, though their massive weight had likely killed them before they were ever tossed over. Everyone stopped working for a few moments, thinking that it could have been them, when the driver began to roar at them to work and they all started again. It was a lucky miss, that Rubble did nothing-how would it have looked if he came back, bugged up but alive? Chunks out of his rubbery frame, disguise gone, but breathing? (Not that he needed to breathe, but that, of course, wasn't the point). He knew that none of the other ponies surrounding him cared about the pegasus and the earth pony. This struck him as odd. Though he lacked much emotion, he thought that it was normal flesh pony behaviour to at least feel a little bit of remorse. He supposed that hard work had made them sweat all their emotions out. Winter was coming, but the autumn winds still didn't cool them off. A sudden crack on his shoulder made him turn. It was a voluntary reflex to flinch-he didn't feel the whip but he knew he was supposed to. The driver gave a barking chuckle, then spoke. "18874? You're coming with me," he rapped out, and Rubble made no protest. He hoped that he wasn't going to the mines (they normally only sent lesser races there, not ponies), and took confort in his semi-invincibility at that moment. After a short carriage ride, they arrived at the area. It appeared to be where new barracks were going up, and ponies were shoulder to shoulder. He was shoved in an open space next to a young blue pegasus, who winced when he brushed against her scars. "Sorry," he whispered involuntarily. It was just that she looked so much like her. The other pony cracked a lopsided smile. Her scarring wasn't pretty, but it gave her an almost exotic quality. "S'all good, 18874," she said quietly, reading off the brand inside his leg. "You got a real name?" Rubble wasn't sure if to answer, but he did anyways. "Rubble," he replied after a few minutes. "They call me Rubble." "Rough name for a rough man," said the mare, and glanced at him. "Raindancer. Raindancer and Rubble. We'll make quite the team." With that, she was shut up by a hit, and Rubble could only feel a small glow in his chest as he realized that things just might get better.

Give me banner theme ideas! (+ Some OC stuff)
Mephala commented on Kyoshi's blog entry in Well, that was disappointing
While I hope your professional help will be of use, I warn against medications. Using drugs will change your mood drastically; mine gave me anger issues and pushed me to self-harm even more than I had done. I wouldn't swear by them just yet-wait and see how the actual counseling goes first. Best of luck. Also, I'd love to see a Sapphire Shores banner someday, as well as a Snips and Snails one. Or a Twist one! :3
