Just a bit of character favoritism, combined with that scene in the season opener with Celestia saying that Twilight might need the help of her friends to find the keys and then the camera turns to the mane 5 plus Spike.

That makes sense XD and i totally forgot about that scene,if you are right it will be really cool to see Spike get a principal part in the whole thing
