      here's how i think: you got 2 coices.

      1 being the tough road, finding out stuff on your own

      2 being the easy road. internet and other sources of data.

      human nature is to take the easy road. therefore humanity's will to experiment and to explore will vanish.

      @Lowline: Interstellar travel is still a far way off. Science is evolutionary, not revolutionary (barring certain exceptions). Progress comes in steps. In fact, the goal for governmental space agencies right now is to colonize nearby planets and moons. Meanwhile, the private sector is developing in orbit. There is progress, and there will be progress.

      @repsol: Take a look around you. The easy road doesn't necessarily lead to complacence. It could, but that's not how things are going. Look at everything that's being done right now. Quantum computing, carbon nanotubes, efficient biofuels, etc., etc. I simply cannot see how the natural human desire to learn and create is at all slowing down.
