Mana awoke slowly, groaning as she regained consciousness. Her head felt like it was being pounded by fifty hammers all at once. It took her a few more minutes before she felt like she could get up. When she did, she realized that she wasn't in her bed at home, and that she had no idea where she was at all.
She could barely make out her surroundings as there was no sun or a moon. She saw the dim silhouettes of a group of trees, perhaps a forest or a wood? She could also see a dock and a few buildings. When she took a step to go to one of these houses, she almost tripped over a saddlebag which was lying on the floor. What's this doing here? It certainly isn't mine. She thought before tipping out the contents and using her magic to produce a small light so that she could examine them better. She found two maps, presumably of the place that she was in. It was too dark to read them properly, even with a dim light. She also found an unlit candle and a canteen full of water. Could be worse. She thought, shrugging inwardly as she put everything back in the bag and slung it onto her back and started to head towards one of the cottages.
She opened the door to one of them and looked inside cautiously. There was a strange glowing creature floating around, which Mana recognized as a ghost. But ghosts are just made up creatures to scare foals? What the heck is this?! Suddenly, it lunged at her. Quickly, Mana opened the canister in her saddlebag and collected the water inside, solidifying it slightly and using it to whip at the ghost. She didn't want to 'kill' it, even though it was probably already dead. Instead, she shaped the water to cover up the ghost completely and froze it, leaving the ghost immobile. Mana then hurried outside, filling up her canister again and thought of what to do next.
