Why does Make Friends, but Keep Discord remind me of Owl's Well That Ends Well?

I don't think I'll be reading the main series FIM comics anytime soon; their writing quality has really slipped since Manehattan Mysteries.

Y'know, last week's episode would've definitely been much better if Tree Hugger had the dimensionality of Flax Seed or Wheat Grass rather than be a two-dimensional archetype of one.
