  1. The first book in a series of three called 'Panzer Aces'. Each chapter tells the stories of a particular commander and their entire experiences throughout their war. I am a horribly slow reader so I've only made it to the very beginning of chapter IV, which is Hans Bölter's story. All of these first-hand experiences make for great visualization, it's amazing how vivid their memories of such horrors are implanted in their minds so deeply, they can write it down like a story. A much more involving and in-depth learning experience than reading from a wiki which deals with armies, divisions and statistics. In these stories you get to learn each person's name, what they said, how they say it and what they did or didn't do. Very good read, and I still have the other two volumes to get through as well!
  2. I actually thought it would be nice to not be invisible for once so here I am. I've been reading a book and was contemplating playing a game. Not doing anything sinister quite yet. It's too early here for that.

  4. Animation? Excellent, whatcha working on that - *gasp* -isn't pony related?! How is that even possible, hm?
  5. Just thought I'd chime in for the heck of it. I live and I die, that's all that really concerns me, and I do not fear death, I welcome it as a part of everyone's life. I am eternally grateful to have a life and when I die, I wouldn't have really lost anything, just gone back to what I was to begin with; nothing. I mind my own business and do not concern myself over who believes and doesn't believe what, since it doesn't affect me in the slightest. I believe faith is an extremely powerful tool that can lead many people to live grand, fulfilling lives, putting spirit and hope in believers' eyes. People say religion starts war. Well, there is good and bad to everything in the world. Humanity tends to focus more on the bad caused because it is more interesting to discuss. Such as the news reporters', "If it bleeds, it leads." Hollowshield, I can completely understand your confusion as to how such people can be happy and I can safely speak for myself in saying, I'm happy. I don't need a guide to help me through, and if there is one, I thank Him for his kindness towards a non-believer such as myself. But, in the end, it doesn't matter to me, I live my life as good as I can be, I live for others, and I live to make others' lives more bearable. I take great joy and pride in helping those in need and putting warm smiles on friends' faces. I hope that little rambling shed some light on my particular viewpoint. If you have any further questions out of curiosity, do feel free to give me a shout.
  6. Thanks to @Kyronea, I've started a few branches that I've never tried before. Namely, the American turreted tank destroyer line, Soviet medium tank line, and I'm giving German SPGs another go as well. My American tank destroyer is the Tier IV M8A1, while Kyroro chose the turret-less TD line so he has the T40. It's fun going down the lines together to compare and contrast the differences. For most of my play time I've made a bit of a pledge to not delve to deep into Soviet armour, though I've gotten brave and grinded to the KV-1 and just a few moments ago, the T-34! The T-34 is definitely one of those stock nightmares, the only thing that is decent at the moment is the gun, but even that is fairly abysmal. I must upgrade the suspension and engine if I am to ever get anywhere and flank the enemy. Because I've been having loads of fun with Kyronea I've had a very lengthy low-tier spree which has significantly fattened my credit and free experience wallets. It's also a breath of fresh air to stomp around on some newer players with light tanks, such as my most beloved Panzer 38(t). I look forward to getting their Tiers up so I can finally get back in my coveted Tier VIIs such as my Tiger H, Panther and JagdPanther! But for now, I'm helping push them along to glory.
  7. This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner. This is an automatically generated message, by the way.

  9. In low tiers, with low crew skills, your accuracy will be terrible regardless. Besides, Germany is renowned for possessing the most accurate guns in the game; wherever you aim, the shell goes. Take the Panther: As with the German Tree and the entire game, patience is a virtue. As you play, your crew will only become more efficient and your tank will truly shine. It also highly depends on which guns you are using. You have used Germany's Leichttraktor and Pzkpfw II. The LTraktor, with the 37mm gun is the dominant Tier I and the most accurate, and hardest hitting. The Panzer II on the other hand gets to choose from a variety of 20mm cannons, which are meant for chewing at the sides and rear of enemies while they are distracted. Relying on speed to carry your team to victory. A Panzer II is also efficient at counter-scouting and SPG hunting. Germany doesn't begin getting the famous accurate weapons until around Tier IV, so be patient. Their 75mm guns are the most dependable weapons out there for that Tier. 11. I've gone ahead and added you to the active roster in the OP of the thread. I also added you to my contacts and checked out your Service Record. you've most evidently found comfort in the Soviet tank destroyer line that's for sure. A Top Gun medal with less than 300 battles - very good. Yes, the Panzer IV has only had its Schmalturm turret removed. That doesn't sound too drastic but because of the super-heavy turret beign removed, it can no longer mount the 75mm L/70 cannon - which is an extremely deadly sniper style gun. It has now been reduced to having the Ausf. H turret, which mounts the 75mm L/48. This completely changes the Panzer IV's role from a sniper, to a mid-range flanker and harasser, sometime even brawler. Despite my favourite tank's crippling, I still perform very well with it and it shall remain as my most used tank, with nearly 500 battles.
  12. Just because you don't know how to use TDs doesn't mean you can take it out on me, you swine.

Did you purposely recommend The Final Sacrifice for all the Canadian jokes?

Actually, I recommended it because of Rowsdower.

I didn't even know you were Canadian. =O

Good to know. I just changed the process' affinity to only use one core. Enabling V-Sync helped too, though I'm not sure why. All settings are now back to maximum and everything looks nominal. The only catch is I can't enable anti-aliasing. I think I'm good to go.

Perfect. We should all get together sometime and blow those Soviet scumbags to hell in our lovely Panzers. <3

Well, I guess I can enable a minimal amount of anti-aliasing after all. Wunderbar.

I'm of German ancestry and have a distinctly German last name, so I guess I should feel bad if I play as anybody else. Guess I'll have to work hard to redeem myself in RO2.

  15. They will be trained day in and day out, forging them in a furnace of sweat and blood; they will become even more efficient and cunning than their predecessors. They will observe their mentors, learn about our history and improve upon past lessons learned. They will seek challenges and train themselves to any manner of test. To them, the challenge will be fulfillment. They will cultivate true comradeship with their brothers and sisters at arms; doing so will ensure indomitable will and spirit unbreakable. They shall keep their eyes wide open. They shall tune themselves to the top most pitch. Be nimble as a greyhound, as tough as leather, as hard as Equestrian steel and so they all shall be the staff warrior incarnate. They must grasp the full purpose of every enterprise, so that if their leaders are killed they can fulfil it. Beware of talking. Be not corruptible. Be calm and prudent, strong and resolute. Valour and enthusiasm of an offensive spirit will cause them to prevail in your duties. I have utmost faith in our new comrades, and they will not fail us. Nor will they fail you. Have confidence in their abilities as new leaders and they will be given the zeal they need to carry them through their gauntlets and succeed as heroes.
  16. That would be an 88mm Armour-Piercing shell. The very same round a Pzkpfw VI 'Tiger' used to punch clean, effortless holes through Allied armour of the day. A wonderful piece of munitions. Worth every penny of the ~$450 odd dollars.
  17. This is what happened after a few historical discussions that occurred after watching the movie Total Recall with my father. How the situation mounted to this is beyond me, but at least it has produced something random to share for once. Hah wow, look - you can see the fear of the camera in his eyes! How interesting!
  18. Don't know if it's the stress getting to you or not but, I'm not complaining!
