A 'vector' is a digitally made trace of a character, in this case, ponies. They consist of taking a screencapture of a certain scene, then openin the screen cap in a digital illustration software i.e., Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, and Adobe Flash Professional. You then recreate character, with new strokes, and end up with the character with no background.

I suck at making vectors in illustrator. Hard to edit the lines to my liking. Photoshop was always my forte.

I'm quite suprised with the different result in facilitation of making vectors in Ai than in Ps. But that's my /o/pinion.
