  1. I actually wound up enjoying Pony Life for what it is: A separate Universe from the FiM World(Though surprisingly featuring reprisals of most of the mane cast sans a few characters like Spike and Snips.).  And truth be told, I wouldn't mind another alternate universe featuring the Mane Six.  Maybe something along the lines of Looney Tunes.  Or maybe something a bit darker.

After all, I have a feeling that the Mane Six will get a new series following G5's conclusion.  They're too integrated into our culture because of how long they've been on the market, just like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee and Grimlock of the Transformers, the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the Ninja Turtles, Batman, Spider-Man, Mario and Sonic, and various other forms of pop culture.

Twilight, Pinkie, Fluttershy, and even goddamn Megatron, among others

I can hear @CloudMistDragonscreaming from here

I can confirm that.  My Wondercon copy came in two days ago, and my jaw dropped by how far Sombra has gone, even compared to his Season 3 and 9 variations.

Also, imagine Frank Welker as Megatron saying that line.

  3. It may not just be Twilight, Spike, Ember, Smolder, Celestia, Luna, Cadance, Flurry Heart or Discord.  I also expect to see the return of Chrysalis, TIrek and Cozy Glow.  Perhaps the magic disappearing has allowed them to escape their fate from the Ending of the End.  Ether that or they did succeed at creating what G5 starts off with.

  4. For those who saw the episode involving the return of Dishwater Slog, here's what happened.  Note: Because of Spoilers, this will be placed in the Spoiler Tag

    Spoiler

Dishwater Slog decided to buy out all the Rainbow Sunglasses and sell them at his booth for more money than what he spent them on: 200 bits.

In hindsight, this reminded me of the fact that Playstation 5s and X-Box Series systems are sold out across the nation, and yet they're available on eBay for tons of money(Some at around $1000).  Even though this episode was not completed till sometime last year, it felt hilarious in hindsight because it took a major jab at scalping, which has been going on since the middle of the last decade.  Anyone who had problems trying to buy certain items because some jerks were selling them for big bucks on eBay, like Amiibos, NES Classic Editions, or Szechuan Sauce, can actually relate to that.

  5. I think the reason why people are defending Microtransactions even in spite of all evidence is this: Some people have a sense of achievement for buying these kinds of things.  A feeling they get for getting that rare character, weapon, or skin.  And yes, even if there are non-MTX games that makes unlocking skins a piece of cake.  They feel as if it held value, like a trading card, or a collectible figure.  I also figured that the same thing can be said of Loot Boxes.  Some people like having a surprise come out of it, hence why they're willing to part with hundreds of dollars on Loot Boxes.(And I think that's crazy, as one who has played F2P games).

What I find really said is how many defend Microtransactions and Loot Boxes in $60 games(Soon to be $70 games), even in spite of more expensive editions and DLC.  It's rather obvious that it makes the Triple A industry look greedy in hindsight.  But even if they came out and admit that this was all a scam, some will still defend it to the very end.

  6. I think I'm going to add in my own theory.

What if the punishment for Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow, backfired horribly?  What if they broke out of their stone prison and went back to causing a drift between ponies once more?  Only this time, in secret when no one is looking?

  7. We all know that My Little Pony is getting a new series this fall on Netflix starting with a new movie, and there's a chance Pony Life will be phased out in favor of G5.

But at the same time, I also wonder if more than one My Little Pony series can co-exist at the same time.  Not just Pony Life and G5, but I think G5 and a more legacy-focused series.

The one example I can provide about a franchise co-existing with two series is the Transformers.  Not long ago, there were two Transformers series on the Hub: Transformers Prime and Transformers: Rescue Bots.  One was aimed at a general audience while the other was more for a younger audience.  It's already repeated itself with Transformers War for Cybertron on Netflix and Transformers Cyberverse on Cartoon Network(Though the latter will go through one more season), with confirmations on a 3rd Transformers series called Botbots on Nickelodeon.

This also makes me wonder if there will be two co-existing My Little Pony series in the future, much like we did with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Equestria Girls.  Maybe one for a new generation of fans, and one for nostalgia.  And  it doesn't have to be Pony LIfe, nor should it focus on G4.  It could also be a nod to G1, or expand into an ideal MLP Multiverse theme.

What do you all think?  Should My Little Pony have two co-existing shows like it did with G4(FiM and Equestria Girls)

  8. According to the Entertainment Tonight article, the new G5 series will be exclusive to Netflix

My Little Pony is coming to Netflix.

The newest CG-animated movie from Entertainment One (eOne), Hasbro's entertainment studio, will drop on the streaming service this fall, ET can exclusively reveal.

The studio has also greenlit a new animated series for Netflix, which will take place after the upcoming movie and will focus on Sunny Starscout and her friends.

In the new movie, the pony world of Equestria has lost its magic. Friendship and Harmony have been replaced by paranoia and mistrust, and Ponies now live separated by species. Sunny — a feisty and idealistic young Earth Pony — is convinced there’s still hope for this divided world, but her slightly misguided and often hilarious efforts to change hearts and minds have led to her being branded a misfit. When Sunny befriends a lost Unicorn named Izzy, who wanders innocently into the Earth Pony town of Maretime Bay, the town has had enough. Izzy and Sunny must embark on an epic adventure that will include a daring jewel heist, outrageous conspiracy theories, elaborate musical numbers, and the world’s cutest flying Pomeranian. Their adventures will take them to faraway lands and force them to challenge the status quo by facing their fears and making new friends out of old enemies. The world Sunny has dreamed of her entire life could finally become a reality as Sunny and her newfound friends fight to prove that even little ponies can make a big difference.

Animated by Hasbro’s Boulder Studio in Dublin, the new feature marks the first time the Ponies will be seen in CG animation.

The movie is directed by Rob Cullen and Jose Ucha with Mark Fattibene as co-director. Cecil Kramer and Peter Lewis are producers.
  9. Recently, Hasbro made an announcement that the Power Rangers franchise will be moving to Youtube, and so far, Might Morphin(Disney Remake) and Dino Charge is most likely to be the first jump there.

This makes me wonder if Hasbro will do the same thing with previous seasons of My Little Pony: Generation 1, Tales, Generation 3, Generation 3.5, Friendship is Magic and Pony Life.(Equestria Girls has its own Youtube series).

I think it may be a good idea for previous Pony series, just to at least keep their spirit alive after the final curtain drop.  There could be a new generation of Pony fans who could check out the classics and take part in what made the fandom great.  Hell, at best, it could lead to a revival in the future(I know I shouldn't hold my breath.  But then again, Animaniacs got its revival).

What do you all think?  Should Hasbro make the My Little Pony legacy available on Youtube for everyone to see?

  10. How do you feel that the pony brand is now “over the hill”?

I'm still surprised that a franchise like My Little Pony has become this big.  But I'd say it hasn't hit full stride until it's part of a Massive Hasbro crossover with other franchises like Transformers, Jem and the Holograms, GI Joe, Power Rangers and other franchises

What year did you get into MLP?

Late 80s, early 90s, for Generation 1.  I have the full series on DVD.

Are you only a part of the pony family for one generation?

Hell no.  Both G1 and G4. The former due to its mythology.  The latter for obvious reasons

     Are you a pony collector?

Hell yeah.  Though I think with the end of Pony Life, I may consider retiring from Pony Toy collecting(Unless G5 has some interesting designs)

Does the person responsible for the concept and design of MLP as a whole, Bonnie Zacherle, get enough praise and recognition in the generational fandoms apart from g1?

As much as I want to give Lauren Faust credit for shaping Ponies into a better idea, Bonnie deserves some credit for making the franchise a reality.

How many more years do you see the pony brand trotting along?

If brands like the Transformers, Gi Joe and the Power Rangers can last a long time, so can My Little Pony.

  11. For anyone who is still worried about going to theaters, worry not.  Warner Bros has confirmed that its 2021 movie schedule will be out in theaters and on HBO Max.  But this might mark the beginning of the end for movie theaters.

Warner Bros. is plotting a sweeping response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has shuttered movie theaters around the country. After announcing that Wonder Woman 1984 will go to HBO Max as well as theaters on Dec. 25, the studio has laid out a similar path for its 2021 slate amid uncertainty about when movie-going will get back to normal.

The studio announced Thursday day-and-date releases for its 17-film slate, which will hit HBO Max for a one-month window that starts the same day they will be available in U.S. theaters.

The studio's 2021 slate includes projects such as The Suicide Squad, The Matrix 4Dune, Godzilla vs. Kong and Space Jam: A New LegacyOther films include Little Things, Judas and the Black Messiah, Tom & Jerry, Mortal Kombat, Those Who Wish Me Dead, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, In The Heights, Reminiscence, Malignant, The Many Saints of Newark, King Richard and Cry Macho.

The unprecedented move is likely to catch theater owners off guard and upsets a model that has been in place for decades. Warner Bros. stresses that these are pandemic-only rules, but once a something is broken, can you really put it back together again? This also raises serious concerns about the landscape of movie-going in 2021.

Sources say these discussions were kept close to the vest and not shared with many exhibitors. Warner Bros. will likely have to agree to far more generous terms with theater owners to avoid them boycotting their films. Insiders say the Wonder Woman 1984 split of ticket sales is far better for exhibitors than normal. Sources also say the studio did not inform partners such as Legendary, which has Godzilla vs. Kong, that their films were included in this plan.

“We’re living in unprecedented times which call for creative solutions, including this new initiative for the Warner Bros. Pictures Group,” said Ann Sarnoff, chair and CEO, WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group “No one wants films back on the big screen more than we do. We know new content is the lifeblood of theatrical exhibition, but we have to balance this with the reality that most theaters in the U.S. will likely operate at reduced capacity throughout 2021. With this unique one-year plan, we can support our partners in exhibition with a steady pipeline of world-class films, while also giving moviegoers who may not have access to theaters or aren’t quite ready to go back to the movies the chance to see our amazing 2021 films. We see it as a win-win for film lovers and exhibitors, and we’re extremely grateful to our filmmaking partners for working with us on this innovative response to these circumstances.”

“After considering all available options and the projected state of moviegoing throughout 2021, we came to the conclusion that this was the best way for WarnerMedia’s motion picture business to navigate the next 12 months,” said WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar. “More importantly, we are planning to bring consumers 17 remarkable movies throughout the year, giving them the choice and the power to decide how they want to enjoy these films. Our content is extremely valuable, unless it’s sitting on a shelf not being seen by anyone. We believe this approach serves our fans, supports exhibitors and filmmakers, and enhances the HBO Max experience, creating value for all.”

“This hybrid exhibition model enables us to best support our films, creative partners and moviegoing in general throughout 2021,” said Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich. “We have a fantastic, wide-ranging slate of titles from talented and visionary filmmakers next year, and we’re excited to be able get these movies in front of audiences around the world. And, as always, we’ll support all of our releases with innovative and robust marketing campaigns for their theatrical debuts, while highlighting this unique opportunity to see our films domestically via HBO Max as well.”

HBO Max is only available in the United States, and Warners' 2021 slate will roll out internationally in theaters as planned.  The move comes after Warners released Christopher Nolan's Tenet in theaters this summer amid challenges faced by the pandemic.

Universal has already shortened theatrical windows via its unique VOD plan, which was put in place because of the pandemic.

This is a rather big surprise that Warner Bros is pulling this move for 2021, as I happen to have an HBO Max account.  So at least I'm not going to miss some of these films coming out.  But at the same time, it also means that it could mark the end for movie theaters if this becomes the new norm.

  12. It really is a damn shame, considering that these are more premium cable TV channels.  Disney should have pushed this series more onto Disney Plus instead of stranding it on Disney XD.  This, unfortunately, has me worried about MLP Generation 5 if its only on Discovery Family.  In fact, I actually hope that Ponies exist more on streaming services instead of these more premium cable tv channels.(Be it Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, HBO Max, etc)

  13. I've already seen 2 episodes of the reboot.  The first being the first episode and the second being the Halloween Special.  If I had to choose which of the two was better, I enjoyed the special more than the premiere, mainly because of the themes, the jokes, and(In rare cases) the heartbreaking moments.

That being said, I hope this series does well so that we can have shorts focused on Slappy and Skippy Squirrel, the Goodfeathers, and Rita and Runt.

  14. So unless you've been under a rock, the internet is flooding with news that Patty Jenkin's Wonder Woman sequel will be in theaters.  But for those who are still worried about the Coronavirus, worry not.  The movie will also hit HBO Max on the same day: Christmas.

“Wonder Woman 1984” is heading to HBO Max and U.S. movie theaters on the same day. Warner Bros., the studio behind the superhero sequel, announced plans to release the blockbuster simultaneously on the big screen and the subscription-based streaming platform on Dec. 25.

Internationally, where HBO Max is not available, “Wonder Woman 1984” will open in Dec. 16. The film will be available for a month on HBO Max in the U.S. included at no additional cost to subscribers.

“As we navigate these unprecedented times, we’ve had to be innovative in keeping our businesses moving forward while continuing to super-serve our fans,” said Ann Sarnoff, chair and CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group, which includes Warner Bros. Pictures. “This is an amazing film that really comes to life on the big screen and, working with our partners in the exhibition community, we will provide that option to consumers in the U.S. where theaters are open. We realize that a lot of consumers can’t go back to the movies due to the pandemic, so we also want to give them the option to see Wonder Woman 1984 via our HBO Max platform.”

The unconventional release plan comes as 50% of U.S. theaters are closed, including major moviegoing markets like New York and Los Angeles, and many still hesitant to go to the movies.

“We appreciate how patient audiences have been and given the great anticipation around ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ we are grateful to be able to make this terrifically entertaining movie widely available in these challenging times,” said Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group.

Though surprising, it’s not unprecedented for a major movie to debut simultaneously on home entertainment and in movie theaters. Universal Pictures opened “Trolls World Tour” on premium video-on-demand in April, when most cinemas were shuttered due to the pandemic.

You can read more about it at https://variety.com/2020/film/news/wonder-woman-1984-hbo-max-release-1234804411/

That being said, this makes me wonder if the same thing should happen to the upcoming Tom and Jerry Movie, Space Jam: A New Legacy and even the upcoming 2021 release of the My Little Pony movie as well.  I know it's not the big screen, and that's an experience I am going to miss out on.  But if it means more Americans get to watch the movie in question(Scoob saw great success with releasing on HBO Max as opposed to theaters), then I'm all for it.

  15. A new recent Pony Life teaser reveals that, instead of going to Discovery Family, it's going to Youtube instead

It's not the first time that anything pony related is on Youtube(Equestria Girls, MLP Shorts).  But at the same time, I Feel this might be a testing ground for Generation 5 being a Youtube series as well.

    What do you all think?
