Considering that one of humanity's advantages is tenacity, and a common foe is one of the best ways to stop two groups from fighting each other... No, I don't think we would give up as a species at least until there were too few humans left to really matter any more. Until such time, we would continue to resist to the best of our abilities. -
That's a good start! One suggestion; break whatever you draw down into simple shapes. For instance, Luna's head and plot are basically circles, while her chest is an egg-shape and her legs are a series of warped rectangles. Being able to see what you want to draw as a series of lines and shapes will make things so much easier for you

Having just come back from the movie... Sunset Shimmer disappointed me. I felt that she was a pretty flat character without much depth or implication of depth, and I've come to expect depth from MLP. Having been in love with the design since her toy was first revealed, I wanted to love her, or, failing that, to hate her but be entertained by her, but, in the end, she just doesn't do anything for me. Once you take away her dominating others through fear and/or power, there's just not enough left to really care. -
I'm with the general reaction here. DLC is, in theory, an excellent idea. It's basically like modding, but you are guaranteed (hopefully) a quality product that pushes the game in directions that modders can't. (And while I haven't purchased any DLC that wasn't bundled yet, I loves me some modding). The problem is that a lot of companies see DLC as a way to make a quick buck, and pump out high-priced, low-effort DLCs in order to milk the consumer for as much money as possible (EA being easily the worst offender). If we see DLC overall being done right, I'd be behind it in a heartbeat.

Octavia is my favourite background pony, so the vote has to go there. Comparing the two, not only to I prefer the classic, refined personality of Octavia, but I also find it to be a rarer treat than Vinyl's rockstar personality, which makes Tavi stand out more. -

Pretty sure the official stance is that only side characters will get developed romances (Such as Shining/Cadance), to keep it from even the possibility of taking over a Mane's characterization. I actually would prefer it to stay that way; there are so many ways to explore the characters that are (IMHO) more interesting than a long-term romance. Now, a 1-episode thing (like Rarity/Blueblood ), that's perfectly fine. -
I use Photoshop for any painting. Would really love to check out ArtRage or Painter, but will stick to what I have for now . Glad people are interested in seeing where this goes

I've been a big fan of Sunset Shimmer since back when her toy was first revealed, and her turning out to be the villain resulted in her being a big "Draco in Leather Pants" for me (TvTropes - basically a villain who "Can't be thaaat bad" because the fan loves them). As a result of trying to explore why she might be after Twilight and the crown, I concocted a possible backstory for her in the lead-up to Equestria Girls being released, and, the fact that it's not canon being no obstacle, I've been illustrating said backstory in ten parts. I'd actually be wary of this; a lot of my favourite background characters have very personal... well... personalities, and having them fleshed out by the show runners into someone very different from the pony I imagined them to be would be difficult to take. That said, I wouldn't mind an episode in which Octavia plays a supporting role to Rarity. That would be an interesting pairing to bounce off of each other. -
When it comes down to it, nopony in Equestria, not even Celestia or Luna, could beat Discord in a one-on-one fight. His magic is simply too far beyond what ponies are capable of. Of the Mane 6, Twilight would last the longest, as she's the most powerful, but it would still be a near-instantaneous victory for Discord. It'd be like trying to fend off modern weaponry with swords; it just isn't going to happen. -
I agree with the others that Rarity and Pinkie's talents aren't really that suited to the situations you've been describing. Most of the tasks are pretty physical, which makes sense for Applejack and Rainbow, and Fluttershy has both flight and the ability to communicate with animals - which is pretty invaluable considering Ponyville is rural with a heavy wilderness presence. Pinkie and Rarity are both most at home in the social field, but in most of the examples above, diplomacy wasn't really an option (exception; Luna Eclipsed did miss out of Rarity, though Pinkie's not being part of the plan is excusable in that she had previous responsibilities). Heck, Rarity came the closest by far to success in Dragonshy before her greed crushed that victory. You did miss out on Magic Duel, where Rarity (and Sweetie Belle) paired with Applejack as central to Twilight's plan, and Pinkie Pie was the final trump card. Also, Pinkie was the first pony Twilight went to in Magic Duel - specifically to initiate the planning phase. That should really count for something. -
