@The Paris Swing Box: Because I do a lot of heavy media stuff (e.g. games, video compression, editing and rendering, virtual machines) on this laptop and the stock 12GB wasn't exactly enough... although considering how I took up 8GB with ease, who woulda thought that 12GB was enough!

@Sir. Loin: Yes. The maximum RAM MSI GT- series laptop motherboards can accept is 32GB.
