Whatever happened to free-roaming, do-whatever-you-want type games? Why must games try to be the next interactive Hollywood movie now? Frankly I prefer the former, those were fun - being punished by the game for doing what you want to instead of what the game wants you to do isn't.

Basically describes what Final Fantasy has become. No free roaming - stick to your hallway and like it.
Also can't stand games with hours worth of cutscenes (a.k.a., exposition dumps) that punctuate the gameplay way more than necessary. If I only need to spend half of your game with a controller in my hand, you have failed as a programmer.
