What the kid did was, without question, inexcusable. Just because the kid's behavior was inexcusable doesn't mean the "mom" has the privilege to publicly humiliate her kid and have him homeless.

For the latter, if the kid was under eighteen at the time of the act, then that's endangering the welfare of a child. That's illegal.

The mom needs to be a responsible parent. Publicly humiliating her kid, presumably wasting hundreds of valuable dollars, and having him/her live on the street is being irresponsible and only proves her kid's point. She should've talked to him on the phone and talk with him privately at hom, because it's nobody's business other than her and her kid.
