  1. Again I'm open for history lessons. Perhaps in exchange for lessons in 3D modelling or computer coding, or German. I'd love to help someone with history though!
  2. Well it's his car so he certainly has the right to do that. He doesn't sound like much of a friend though. Ditch him. Find someone else to drive with. Or take the bus. Or get your own drivers license. Or get some fresh air and walk. There's lot's of ways to get around driving home with him. But if he doesn't respect you, you don't need to respect him. And if you have to, just stick up for yourself.
  3. I've been taking French classes at school for seven years. I still can't even hold a conversation beyond a few sentances, and even that's a struggle. The French program is really weak. Being in Canada though, it's very advantageous to know French. I hope someday I'll become reasonably fluent. I'd really like to learn German though. I've always been fascinated by German history and language. FUR DAS VATERLAND!
  4. I've never been to the emergency room. Even for stitches. I've had some cuts that certainly would've warranted stitches but instead I got a badass scar
  5. My name is Samuel. I just go by Sam. It's ok, I suppose. It's not awesome and it's not terrible. It works though, and I don't think I'd change it. It would be awesome to be called something like "Tiberius" or "Quintus" or something Roman. Percival or Horatio would be awesome too.
  6. @ Swift was slightly frustrated by the constant flow of questions. It seems an entire week of drilling wasn't enough. Let's hope they're less clueless in real action he thought. "Go to the larboard midship! Damn it!" Swift yelled. Swift raised his looking glass to his left eye and stared at the battle. The merchant ship seemed to have sunk by now, but there were more ships in the fray. There appeared to be a second pirate ship.. It was considerably larger than the other vessel. He knew that design of ship. It was an Equestrian frigate, 36-guns. Whoever these people were they seemed to have captured one. And another ship, bearing the Equestrian naval jack. He recognized it well. It was the RNS Corner Creek. Swift and gone to school with it's captain, Post-Captain Salinity. She was experienced and levelheaded. He only hoped she'd be able to hold on until the Resilient arrived. The wind was strong and Swift estimated that they would be within range of the enemy with the hour.
  7. Neither of those are new features to a PC. Why would they build a regular PC? Surely that would flunk. "A powerful new category of living-room hardware is on the horizon." That's the keyword for me. Living-room hardware is basically what a console is. It's a simpler computer designed for one's living room to work with one's Television. As I said, I believe it will be a sort of a hybrid but I also believe there will be more console elements than PC elements.
  8. I've talked to a number. Patrick Stewart. LeVar Burton. Micheal Dorn. Nicole Oliver. Andrea Libman. Claire Corlett. Tabitha St Germain. Lee Tockar. William Shatner. Casey Biggs (think I spelled his name right). Ethan Phillipes. And a few more that I can't think of right now.
  9. How do you know it won't be the same with the Steambox? It does heavily indicate that they aren't aiming to use the mouse and keyboard as their main control system. As for that, how do you know? We have practically NO information. I can drag out specific quotes indicating a more console like system whereas it's more difficult to find ones that indicate a PC approach.
  10. Wikipedia's definition of a console is "an interactive computer which is used with a display devices (like a monitor or television) designed for the purpose of gaming". I believe it will be a mix between consoles and PCs, but I'm fairly certain it will be a console. Also, last I checked you can attached a mouse and keyboard to your console. The only thing that'll be considerably different will be customization (based off of the little info we have this far). And we don't know that it will be "so much more than that". We only have a vague idea to what it is, and a lot of it points to a more console like device with many PC elements.
  11. They sound a lot like consoles. "In the living room" and "Mouse and keyboard optional" sounds quite a bit like a console. And since we still have so little information about it I'd say it'll most likely be more of a console.
  12. It looks like Steam will be entering the world of consoles (or something like it) in the near future with the new and mysterious "Steam Machines". http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamMachines/ Do you think it'll just be a generic console? I certainly don't. I think the Steambox is going to be a completely new type of console, though due to the lack of information this far I cannot speculate accurately. It's also noteworthy that while Nintendo has been circling the drain in the console market and Sony/Microsoft seem to be creating rather generic devices I certainly think that there's a gap there that Valve could definitely fill. I think the Steam Machine could be the future of console gaming. I also think it will be a blend of the PC and the console, which will attract crowds from all around. Also, Steam is making a new operating system. Presumably, this will be primarily for the purpose of their new console line. http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamOS/
  13. @@Frosty V "Go to the bow chasers in the forecastle. Get everyone there ready." ordered Swift. "Have you forgotten your drills already?" @@Alex Kennedy "Yes, of course. Assemble the marines. It's too early to anticipate the possibility of a boarding action but it is procedure to assemble, with good reason." Swift rambled. Swift looked out of the spyglass. One of the ships was clearly a merchant vessel. It was afire and sinking rapidly. The other vessels was a sloop, less than half the size of Resilient. Normally a ship like that could easily outrun Resilient but it appeared to have lost a mast in the fighting. It wouldn't be going much further. "We'll be upon them in two hours I'd think." Swift estimated.
  14. Where's the bloody surgeon!" Swift said, staring at the clock. It had been nearly fifteen minutes. Swift took a quick whisk of brandy and headed out the door of the cabin. He leaned heavily on his crutch for support but he did his best to look dignified. Swift stared off the larboard aftercastle. He saw a small sail fluttering off in the distance. He pulled out his looking glass and stared. As he looked closer he saw a second ship... and smoke. Definitely smoke, and flashing. It was a battle. "Ships sighted! Larbord bow, 110 degrees" Swift yelled. Swift hobbled over to the wheel and relieved the helmsman. He pulled the wheel hard to the left. He nodded to the marine drummer to his right. "Beat to quarters." Swift ordered him. The drummer began to roll. A seaman began ringing the bell in the forecastle. "Possible enemy ship sighted. All hands to quarters! To stations! Clear us for action!' Swift yelled.
  15. I'd love to see an MLP game. I don't even know if the Gameloft app is a game or just a stupid but whatever. A PC RPG would be most preferable. I actually see an MLP video game coming into play relatively soon since Hasbro is becoming increasingly aware of how much money they could make off of it.

    Celestia Fan Club

Well Nicole Oliver actually came to our brony meetup here in Halifax. She's really nice. Celestia's cool, but I think she's cooler though now after I've had a chance to meet the woman behind her.
  17. It was today actually. And how did you enjoy Halifax? I've lived here all my life and to be honest I'm looking forward to a change of scenery someday. We have a cool comicon here though called Halcon.
  18. Well first off, I live in Halifax which is not even remotely close to where any of the Voice Actors live or where any of the action happens, but Nicole Oliver came to our local brony meetup! It turns out she was in town working on a show and actually agreed to come to the brony meetup! We all met in the back of this really sketchy pawn shop in the sketchy part of town (lol) and I was surprised that she really showed up. She watched Hearts and Hooves day with us and then we did some Q&A. In the end she got photos and and autographs with us all and it was really cool since bronies here in Nova Scotia are far away from really any brony conventions. In total I think about 25-35 people showed up too so unlike conventions we weren't all crammed together for the Q&A. I actually ended up in the seat beside her Anyways, has a VA come to anyone else's meetup? If so, what was your experiennce?
  19. OOC Notice: We are switching to the morning (approx. 6:00AM) a week after the surgery (making us about 9 days into the voyage). The story is sort of at a halt so we need to do it to keep things up. IC: Swift laid in bed staring at the wall. Today he was finally cleared to walk again. His horn glowed and he levitated a small flask. He took a long gulp from the flask. The taste of whiskey was nice. The bloody surgeon didn't bother to ever listen to him during his days of sickness. Swift slung the crutches under his arms and took a quick step. It hurt, but Swift was well accustomed to pain. The crew stared at him as he slid through the corridors into his cabin. Inside a colt was pouring him tea. Swift levitated a small bottle and set on the table in front of the colt. "Pour some of that in there. There's nothing like a bit of Brandy to spice up morning tea. Oh yes, and colt, bring me the Chief Surgeon. Lume." ordered swift. The colt rushed to obey.
  20. Meh. They weren't really attacking bronies but they were more or less poking fun at them. Poking fun and attacking are quite different. I can deal considerably better with the former.
  21. Really? Star Trek got better as it went along? Let's remember Voyager, Enterprise, DS9 (to some extent) and the JJ movies. Star Trek went downhill after TNG.
  22. Am I the only one who likes Diamond Tiara? I think she's kind of cute and funny. I'd love to see an episode that goes more in-depth with her character. Maybe an episode explaining her backstory or something.
  23. Well there isn't anyway to fix it so why think about it. I think "jee I wish I was 16 so i can get my driver's license" but it doesn't get me anywhere so I just try and live with whatever I've got. As for the fandom's "unavoidable decline", the last Star Trek series is over but there are still dozens of Star Trek conventions. Star Wars may have been crap after the prequels but Star Wars conventions still happen. And FiM certainly won't be the end of MLP. Considering how long an animated series can run (since you don't have to worry about the ages of the actors as much, and other reasons) like the Simpsons, FiM still has at least 8 Seasons to go in my eyes. And when FiM is done another MLP TV show will be created.
  24. OOC: Ok. This needs to seriously be straightened out. Our equivalent Earth year is about 1795-1812. I'd like to keep technology relative to that period. That means muskets not assault rifles. Muzzle-loading cannons not guided missiles. Morphine at this time was still experimental. It wasn't released to the public until 1817 and it wasn't widely used until the American revolution and the age of Steamships. Some of Morphine's predecessors like Laudanum were around but they were likely too expensive to be used by the Military. Alcohol would've been the primary painkiller. A surgeon's kit at this time would've been a crude scalpel, a saw, various picks and knives, a tourniquet and many various mixtures and disinfectants of simple complexity. Sorry if that was a bit of a rant but some things I felt should be clarified. OC: @ Lume set down the alcohol and had he not been incapacitated he might have shoved her into the table. By Celestia she must be the daftest surgeon to ever set foot on a navy ship Swift thought. @@Frosty V "I want the Whiskey *cough* in my belly *cough* you damn fool. Jaeger, bring me *sputter* some more Whiskey. Extra *cough* strong, in great *cough* quantity" Swift sputtered, annoyed.
  25. @ "Damn it doctor stop drinking all that *cough* whiskey" Swift sputtered. "I don't want a *sputter* drunken lug opening me up. I'm the one *cough* who is getting *cough* opened up. Give me some of *cough* the bloody poison." Swift ordered. Bloody drunken doctor and a bloody thirsty patient thought Swift.
