  1. I personally don't care if somebody only listens to music created by fellow Bronies, mostly because I don't see anything wrong with it, even though I find it kinda hard to believe that somebody would actually do so. I mean, there is a lot of great brony music out there, but as careful as I am towards listening same music repeatedly (I don't want to get tired of good songs), it just doesn't seem possible thing to do to me. But well, that's just me after all, so I'll give the possibility a chance. But even if it might seem odd to me, it doesn't mean I would judge somebody for listening to only brony music - simply because it's not that it would hurt anypony. A friend of mine once told me that she barely ever listened to music spontaneously, like, maybe just something to pass the time while driving a car for example. When she discovered brony music, it all seemed to change little by little. I don't know if she only listens to brony music these days, but at least she seems to like it - and that's the most important part, right? I don't really care if I don't understand it, as long as people are let to enjoy things they like and it doesn't hurt anybody. I, for my part, was bullied for my music taste for a long time, so I don't feel like having a right to bash anybody for their track list.
  2. I'm usually far too hesitant to comment on these things but now I just had to, because I really love how your OC looks! I mean her looks overall, since somehow it really pops out of the crowd, especially with that mane style and the details on the hooves. But of course there's no denying the fact that you also drew her so awesomely! I usually prefer original style to the show's style when it comes to drawing, but this one looks really nice! Even though it's very show accurate by the drawing style, there is something original to it, I just can't tell what exactly - but maybe that's just because there's nothing remarkable in a negative way. (At first I thought the hind legs were a bit too long, but after looking it for a bit, I noticed it might be just because of the angle of the picture.) You've got skills! Also, I'd love to see a colored version of this drawing, if you're planning to do one.
  3. ^ My thoughts pretty much. Or, on the other hand, if you imagine Sweetie Belle's hair super long, it'd look much like Cadance's. But yeah, I think they would be aware of the enormous amount of attention Cadance and Shining Armor's daughter would get, so I'm not so sure they'd go with something different that recolored Sweetie Belle with wings. But, on the other hand, that's just the picture they've used for the package, so there's a possibility they'd edit her looks a little for the actual show. ...And they'd better do that if they will make her canon. Anyhow, I'm fine with the idea of Princess Skyla being canon, of course with the little requirement I stated. (Just kidding there, of course there should be much more to her, even though we'd probably get to see her as just a baby if anything.) Plus, I'd like to get to see if the little one approves Twilight's babysitting skills.
  4. Let's begin with the fact that art plays a big role in my life when it comes to my state of mind; when I'm super inspired and manage to draw something nice, I just can't feel much down. And everypony knows there isn't better time for some inspiration than 3 a.m., especially when you're home alone and you have a day off! (I know that doesn't concern everyone, I just know so many people that share this preference of mine.) I've also had the best/craziest/deepest conversations right after midnight, so yeah, night absolutely!
  5. It's hard to me to believe that the show ever mattered anything for those who abandoned the ship that easily. Like, really. I'm not trying to boast, but honestly, I never was a big fan of the idea of Twilight becoming an alicorn myself, but I never even considered leaving the fandom just because one of the characters grows a bit taller and gets wings. Well, of course I understand if somebody leaves because of simply getting tired of the show, but that kind of things shouldn't happen that suddenly. But to each his own, I suppose.
  6. I don't think they're getting worse in general, just... different? That's why I think it's all about getting used to something, like 90's and early 2000 cartoons in my case. When I was little, I usually watched something like Sherlock Hound and Maple Town Monogatari - these may be bad examples since they're both anime, but there were also many Western cartoons like those back then. What I want to say is that to me, there was also some epic action and adventures to watch, and usually they took place either in some certain period of time or in some totally fictional universe where the life resembled ours but was more, you know, adventurous? Sorry, I just can't think of the right word right now, but I hope you'll get the point. What I've noticed that many cartoons today lack these things, or carry them out differently. Many new cartoons have began to "break the rules" and, for example, aren't so faithful to the historical scene, meaning that despite the period of time the story takes place, the show's often given lots of modern themes to make it easier to kids to understand. I mean, it's more of a rule than an exception that a show with a historical aspect has a society of our time, right? This is just one of many examples out there, but it's one of those things that makes the shows appear less convincing to us, which does, at least to me, flatten the nostalgic feeling you should get while watching an awesome cartoon. But I dare to be quite sure that kids that watch it daily don't worry about those kind of things. Because that's what they're used to watch. But I do agree that there are some really bad shows out there. Or, maybe they're not actually that bad, but I think there's too much shows dealing with teenage problems intended to little kids. You know, Disney Channel nowadays... Call me old-fashioned if you like, but I think it's sad that those kinds of things (crushes, high school drama, etc) are forced upon children at such a young age. That's far more worse than a lame plot in my opinion.
  7. Oh, seems like I'd be the namesake of Sweetie Belle. Well, that's just because I had to choose A for the second letter since it doesn't have Scandic letters. At Rum And Monkey I got Dream Charmer as a female unicorn name, according to my OC. Doesn't make much sense to me, but after thinking about it for a while, maybe it could have something to do with controlling dreams? Because I would certainly stand any kind of name for that kind of talent.
  8. I hate to admit it but I easily comply with other's opinions - or, well, more like prejudices in this case. In addition, I had never been anything not even near to an active part of a fandom more than once, but with that thing (not alluding to MLP now) I had to keep it all to myself in the end because of the massive amounts of strongly elitist minded people and the fact how the size of your collection of merchandises judges your rank as a "true fan". So, I was foolish enough to think that every fandom would be like that, and I didn't plan to make an exception for Bronies. But, well, failed with that plan, and thank God (or, well, it was my girlfriend actually) I did. Also clarifying the first sentence of this message of mine a bit, what made everything easier to me to "give in" to MLP was that even if I might had shared my "opinions" with the general haters before, being a furry I never saw anything weird with people being fans of the show about cute ponies. So, maybe I could say I just went with the flow until MLP decided to give me it's first life lesson about judging something you know nothing about.
  9. First I was about to answer Kindness but then I instantly remembered some things which certainly prevent me from doing that. And I'm not talking about a single incident here. Or, well, I'm just a human being after all so maybe I could, but I'll still choose Loyalty, since being able to rely on somebody no matter what and, for my part, being there myself for them is the backbone of life to me.
  10. I think I could be selfish enough to go all "NOOO but now it won't fit with my favourite shipping!" (*quoting Dashabel*) if some of the popular fan shippings - like AppleDash - would became canon. But then again, it's not that I would be forced to let go of my own shippings, since it's all about entertainment after all, no matter how fiery passion you'd love your OTP with. I mean, no one should bash you for having fun, right? Plus, there still would be people who'd be really happy if they made it canon, and that would be enough of a reason to tolerate the idea. Personally, I'd really like to see a homosexual couple in MLP (as for the fan shipping thing, to me it would most likely be Lyra and Bon Bon, but that's just my preference. However, I'd still prefer creating brand new characters for that purpose). Maybe not involving the mane six in the way of one of them being in the relationship, since to me they reflect the show's message of friendship at it's strongest. Also, I'm not going to appeal to the equality thing, as if the show has it's heterosexual relationships, it MUST deal with homosexuality, too. Like, it's not that it would be different kind of love or anything. In that perspective, it would be just adding more lovey dovey things to a show which already has them, which I don't find so necessary. But like it has already been stated in this topic, it's already freaking 2013 and kids are still raised by telling them that homosexuality is wrong. I don't mean only parents, but also other sources of learning about life. I'm not telling you that EVERY cartoon should deal with homosexuality, but in my opinion, MLP has potential to do it. Well, it already encourages people to be themselves, and because of that, I think it's totally ok to not have a single non-hetero couple in the show. But it certainly doesn't stop me thinking there could be some. But after all, I'm not too fond of the idea of making a fan-made shipping canon, or at least some involving a mane six character/characters because I just like them as, you know, fan things. It would also definitely cause a poopstorm like no other. Still, if the creators decided to give a that kind of chance to a fan-made shipping, I'd be ok with it. I don't really think this improved the discussion at all but I felt like stating my opinion. I also hope it wasn't too off topic (or messy because of my somewhat poor English).
  11. I swear my clumsiness will get me killed someday. But it's been surprisingly long time since I actually broke something... It must have been my sister's desk lamp when we were watching Paranormal Activity 4. You see, instead of being scared, we found some spooky scenes rather comical so I decided to be funny and mimicked one of them and accidentally slapped the thing down to the floor... Still owe her a new lamp.
  12. If that's weird, we must live in a planet populated by weirdos! No, really, I don't think that weird at all, since the characters in MLP have human-like personalities, and I wouldn't call them bad looking either. As for the bestiality thing, I find that kind of theory rather ridiculous (now I'm not even talking about only the "innocent" kind of attraction) because it's not like we're watching a nature documentary about real ponies. I myself can't deny the fact that I might have a crush on Spitfire, but that doesn't bother me because I find that kind of attraction different to what you can feel towards an actual person.
  13. It seems like I'm a dyed-in-the-wool dog person, haha. Four years ago we got a small fluffy addition to our family, which not only deepened my interest in dog training, but also made me like smaller breeds, too. So, yeah, dogs. DOGS. I also love hedgehogs! I once had an African pygmy hedgehog as a pet and I'm pretty sure that someday I'll welcome another ball of spikes to my home.
  14. Firstly, I simply like the show very much - pretty much of a no-brainer I guess, but this series is just something that can't be worn out so easily, meaning that you can rewatch your favourite episodes without getting tired of them. Aaand it's got cute and beautifully animated anthropomorphic animals, so how could I say 'no'? Speaking of the visual part of the show, art must be one of the greatest causes for me to stick to the fandom. I'm more of a lonely fan anyway due to my personality and such things, but spending a lot time alone doesn't bother me as long as I have a pencil and some paper with me. If it feels like I can't get anything to draw, I'll just draw some ponies - it's like an excessively easy way to get rid of an art block! Not that drawing MLP related things would be just a "tool" to me - I really like drawing it in general and that's all that matters. The whole fan art part is just incredible. By "art" I don't mean just the graphic side now, but also writing, music, crafts, everything. We have tons of talented artists, but I think what's even more awesome is the creativity and that's where all the fun begins. So, yeah, I'd say that the fandom just makes the series complete to me, and I wouldn't get rid of the the visual part of it even though I'd try. ...Not that I ever would, tho.
  15. Voted for Fluttershy for the favourite main pony. At first she even irritated me (mostly because I identify myself with her haha), but because MLP:FIM isn't an one-trait-character show, she's really grown on me by proving that there's so much more to the shyness and reticence. As for the favourite secondary character of mine, it's absolutely Spitfire! The Wonderbolts Academy was kind of a shock to me at first (you know, the voice and all), but in the end it wasn't half that bad since it just shows how people can be different on duty. Favorite tertiary background character was a difficult choice, but I have to say Bon Bon, mostly because of the fan art/fiction. ...Dang it, now I have to vote for Lyra, too (obviously for the same reasons).
  16. As recommended by a friend, I finally dared to make an account here. So, yeah, um, hello! I'm Jenne (or just Jen), your regular friendly furry neighborhood who became a brony in the late 2011. I live in a small town in the middle of the forests and lakes of Finland - and speaking of which, English isn't my native language, so pardon my poor grammar. Besides, I'm more like a visual person than a speaker in general anyway (plus, I tend to be really shy) meaning that instead of words, I kind of express myself better via art a.k.a. my number one pastime, but I hope I'll get along. I look forward to talking with fellow bronies here! Oh, I totally wasn't gonna forget this! Fluttershy is my favourite pony from the mane six, and Spitfire from other ponies. Yeaaa that's it, I guess. Ugh, these smileys are so cute... ;; <3
