  2. Yea, those are all High Fantasy I believe. I don't think it's really a set definition, but usually has some sort of mythical elements to it like dragons and magic and whatnot (like you mentioned) that's not set in our world. I'm not particularly well versed on the differences, just have a general idea. If someone has a better definition feel free to correct me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To add to the games I mentioned earlier: There are actually two F2P D&D MMORPGs that I know of. The first is D&D online made by Turbine (Lotro creators) and is a bit old, and the second is called Neverwinter made by Cryptic Studios (published by Perfect World Entertainment, the Star Trek Online creators) and is far more recent (it's the one Shire Pony mentioned). I haven't played D&D Online so can't comment on it, and only briefly played Neverwinter (which was enjoyable but didn't grab me). EDIT: There's also EverQuest and EverQuest II (not D&D games). Haven't played either of those very much though.
  3. From Wikipedia: "High fantasy is a sub-genre of fantasy fiction, defined either by its setting in an imaginary world or by the epic stature of its characters, themes and plot. Quintessential works of high fantasy, such as The Lord of the Rings,Malazan Book of the Fallen, and The Wheel of Time, have both of these attributes. High fantasy exists on one side of a spectrum, opposite low fantasy or urban fantasy, which are set in the "real" world. Some works, such as The Chronicles of Narnia, The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, The Mortal Instruments, and The Neverending Story, concern characters that travel between realistic and imaginary settings, and are thus difficult to classify on this spectrum. High fantasy is often classified as epic fantasy; although the two subgenres are extremely similar, the latter usually contains a wider range of main characters." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've enjoyed Lord of the Rings Online and Rift quite a bit. Rift has a better F2P model than most IMO; Lotro's isn't too bad either. Lotro can be quite the grind, however, if you don't enjoy Lord of the Rings that much (or just if the game rubs you the wrong way). Rift isn't as grindy level wise until you hit 51-60. Those are the two main ones I can think of off the top of my head that haven't been mentioned yet. Also I'd recommend keeping an eye on ArcheAge. It's not out yet, but will be F2P when it launches. Launch is supposedly later this year, beta starting mid-late july.
  4. The subject of this topic has little potential to spark discussion between many members and, as such, would be better suited to a status update or a blog. When creating a thread, please remember that the goal is to start a conversation with room for many people to chime in and give their own viewpoints on, and that sharing events of an anecdotal nature would be better done elsewhere. Threads that pertain to media, such as E3, are located in Media Discussion. If you can't find the thread you're looking for, then you can either make the topic yourself or wait for it to be made. If you want to know if a topic exists and don't want to make one, then you could try asking with a status update if anyone has seen a thread on that topic, or [see below] but don't make a thread about it please (removed, SCS answered that way better). Here is the thread you were looking for: http://mlpforums.com/topic/100744-e3-thread/

  7. I've heard tales of the search bar, but I never believed. Until today. It fell from the page whilst I was scouring the forums, and when I presented my utter astonishment to @@SCS, he directed me to this place of wonder. All hail Search Bar!
  8. https://www.origin.com/en-us/store/free-games/on-the-house Go get 'er! It's free for a bit on PC (unless you have a vendetta with EA and origin). I've played it a bit on my iPod and have watched my little brother play it a lot on the Xbox. It was amusing, though I never really got into it. Maybe I should give it another shot...
  9. @@Steve, hey there! Just a quick heads up that there already was an older Favorite Youtubers thread, so I've merged your new one with this one.

  20. So now that Season 1 of the Living World is over... What did everyone think of it? Personally I felt like it improved over time, and really enjoyed these past two updates. I also thought that the ending cutscene was great, and have less dislike for Scarlet. Looking forward to Season 2. Anyone else?

    gaming Trine

Love the Trine series! Loved the first and played most of the second in co-op, then finished in SP. Have yet to beat the DLC sadly, but I like Trine 2 more than the first. The puzzles and gorgeous graphics are great, as well as the music.
