Grace Braid

Grace managed to somehow lose track of the battle very soon after she joined it. There were many of the monsters - too many for Grace to be able to pay too much attention beyond just a few feet around her. At most, she managed to note the very general progress of a couple of people near her in-between roasting, freezing, and slashing anything that got too close - Allan was surrounded by a small swarm, while Alexander and Marcon seemed to be holding their own.

There were so many of the monsters that, after a while, Grace wondered if they would ever stop coming. Thus, when Alexander wiped out almost all of the beasts with just one spell, she was so shocked by the sudden lack of enemies that Grace simply stared in numb disbelief as Alexander's limp form was taken by some girl, and only dimly heard her say she was taking him to the Third District. It took Sam asking her and everybody else if they were alright for her to finally snap out of it.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I got a couple of minor scratches, but other than that they barely even touched me." As she said this, she casted a couple of minor cure spells on herself in order to get rid of those minor scratches before they could get infected. When Allan collapsed next to Sam due to his leg, though, she took a moment to stop and walk over to him.

"Sorry, I don't know how to heal anything worse than a few minor bruises or scratches, so I can't help much. However, I have a feeling that the girl who just took Alexander might know somebody who does, so we'll get you fixed up when we find her." Grabbing his arm, Grace managed to pull Allan off of the ground. "Until then, we can at least help you walk there."

Akari. I'm going to need to remember that. She has a hell of a lot of potential for one so young, Grace thought to herself as everybody began to introduce themselves. Alexander seems to be a rather...odd character, what with his talk of some goddess, but it appears that he too has some power. Then there's the newcomer, the only one I don't have a name for yet; I have no idea how strong he is, but he sure as hell has a dedication towards protecting children at least. And then there's Sam... 

Grace mentally groaned and facepalmed herself when she thought of Sam. 

Well, that was just embarrassing, getting him confused with Bairre. There's nothing I can do about it now, though, so I'll just have to suck it up and hopefully save face.

At this point, she finally realized that Sam had asked her who she was. Placing her arms behind her in a way that represented authority, she thought for a second on how to respond to him.

"My name is Grace, although my full designation is Grace Braid, Major General, serial number 784569, leader of the 4th division of the Throne's Army in Tador, my home nation, located on the world Icesh."

She then turned her head over towards the newcomer(who finally introduced himself as Allan),  and was about to tell him to slow down when a scream and an influx of bright light came from the plaza.

Damn! What the hell is happening now?!, she thought as she blinked her eyes rapidly from the sudden light.

"I have to agree with Allan; we need to see what's happening now," she said when she managed to finally get her bearings again as she rushed past everybody. When she arrived in the plaza, she had to stop for a moment to take everything in. There was some man, roughly her age, standing in the middle of a growing ring of the dark beasts, with bright light emanating off of him. Most of the beasts seemed to be the weak shadow kind, from what Grace could see, but she knew better than to think this would be an easy battle; with how many there were now, they could swarm the man and make the battle take a decidedly deadly turn fast.

Damn! This isn't good. I gotta think fast, or else he's a goner.

Taking her free hand, she pointed it towards a particularly large clump of the shadows before firing off a rather large fireball at them. While half of them managed to sink into the ground in time, the other half weren't so lucky and were melted before they could do any damage.

"Heads up, backup is here!" Grace shouted towards the man as she sliced a shadow that had gotten too close to her in half.

"WHERE IN THE #$@%^&' HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING?!", Cid shouted after Marcon had walked in to the Second District, well outside of hearing range of Cid. He growled as he looked at the place where Marcon slammed his fist, thinking I'm going to need to find that bastard sometime and make him pay for a new $#%&@^' counter. Still, he's a lot stronger than I thought he would have been, if he's able to smash this wood so easily.

Brooding for a second at his smashed counter, Cid then grabbed what looked like an old-style camera with the inscription "Cid Cannon" from behind the counter and headed off towards the entrance to the Third District.

I s'ppose now is as good a time as any to tell Squall about that Alexander kid and his Keyblade.

I'm probably -Tau/10 in terms of how famous I am on these forums. I really don't have any claim to fame here, especially outside of the RP section.

EDIT: I mean, it probably doesn't help that I've changed my name from Skyman over to my current name, so

I honestly think it's a little early to be asking something like this. It's not a bad question, but I think it might be one to ask once everyone meets up and we are actually going. 

 

But to answer your question as of now, I think the biggest thing noticed is character interaction namely because there are more posts with character interaction than anything else. I do like that you are actually DM'ing. I rarely see someone acting as the NPCS and whatnot in a forum RP. That I do like, so keep it up.

 

One question to ask is, where are we going to go after traverse town? Is there going to be a boss battle before we leave? Or are we just simply heading out?

It might be a tad bit early, but I've found that in the RP's that I follow, RP's that I have been in, and the rare few DnD campaigns I have had the pleasure to actually be in, getting feedback about the experience right from the start is extremely useful and can very much so help out the one running everything to adjust. Thus, I wanted to try and get at least some sort of feedback from you guys so that I can see right now if there's anything that would just be rubbing you guys the wrong way, so that I could adjust or change that in some way to make the experience better for everybody. Alternatively, any positive feedback(like the one you just gave me) would help me in knowing what is going well so far and thus what should NOT be changed.

Now, for your question... I honestly can't say much. It's a spoiler, after all, and a fairly major one, relatively speaking(since that would be saying how the plot for this entire world is going to end up being), so my lips are sealed. Don't worry, though, as you guys will be finding out soon enough hopefully.

This post seems to be more like a rant against humanity and how humans suck instead of a fair comparison between the two systems. To put my opinion on the subject, though, I don't think we have anywhere near enough of a view of pony economics to see how well it would run, due to its nature of being a children's cartoon. Things like Rarity being able to find rare gems in the ground could actually devalue those very gems if used too much. Using gold as currency is also not a fool-proof system, as there are SIGNIFICANT negatives to using gold or having a gold standard. It has its benefits, yes, but the costs can very much so outweigh the benefits.

So yeah. We don't have enough details about the pony economy, and what details we do have could actually point to a potentially precarious economy.

I was wondering when SOMEBODY was going to finally use the thread, and was going to make a post here right after making my post in the thread just to kick off some discussion. Didn't you guys hear me? Futurama hasn't been cancelled, it's on Hiatus until July. We didn't get another season for 11 months last time, it'll come back, don't worry.

This proves otherwise. The season starting in June is the final season, at least as of right now, because Comedy Central has stated they are NOT renewing the series. Thus, after the final episode of season 7 runs on September 4th, it is done for, potentially for good this time.

It's disheartening, as the show is still good, but there's not much we can do about it besides bang down Comedy Central's door with torches and pitchforks.

Going to the back of his store, he began to arrange a few boxes in the back of the garage - boxes filled to the brim with the bracelets, belts, and other such accessories he sold to his customers. This would take him a few minutes, and by the end he was beginning to break out into a sweat when somebody came calling his name.

Grace didn't get a chance to finish her sentence, as she heard somebody yell, followed by a unnaturally strong gust of wind passing right by her. She barely had time to give a bewildered look towards where the shouting came from - not even enough time to draw her sword - before one of those armored dark beasts ran in front of her, carrying a small child. Following behind it was some man - a rather clumsy one, at that - who was wielding what appeared to be a similar weapon to what she had summoned up once before.

JUST WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS PLACE?! , she thought, drawing her sword just as she noticed that there were two MORE wielders of those weird weapons - a teenage girl at the top of the stairs, and a ridiculously tall man a short ways in front of her - probably the one who used that wind spell. First, I get sucked into some dark portal thing and dumped off at this place while in the middle of a battle two days ago. Then, I manage to find Bairre, although he insists on pulling his "I'm somebody else" crap at the worst possible time, and now there's three people wielding weapons that look like the one I summoned one time, one of whom is chasing after a child that's getting kidnappe-

She stopped her train of thought for a second.

...Oh dear Mitaya, I should probably go help get that child back.

"C'mon, Bairre. It looks like that man needs some help," she said, beginning to drag 'Bairre' behind her as the teenage girl ran ahead of her. "Maybe we might even get an explanation for this mess from him..."

Closing the hotel door behind her, Grace walked out into the fresh air of Traverse Town and breathed deeply.

This place is nothing like home, but I suppose there's always something nice about breathing some new air. 

Maaaaaaaaybe I should relax a little bit before I make mince meat out of some innocent bystander. 

Taking one last calming breath, Grace headed down the closest staircase and towards the large open courtyard, until she passed by somebody...familiar looking next to the stairs. He had brown, spiky hair, and that short-sleeved gray jacket that she was always telling him looked far too civilian for a soldier, and his face was ringing 40 different, unique set of bells.

Kingdom Hearts: Alt Mix

Two days. It's been two whole days since everything fell apart and I found myself here.

Such were Grace's thoughts, waking up once again in her bed in some hotel in the Second District. The hotel, which was rather small with only two rooms, was empty and unlocked when Grace found it, and the full supply of food, water, and the lack of any Shadows attacking her made it the perfect HQ to use in this new place. Of course, there wasn't a whole lot of good that an HQ could do for just one person, at least compared to what good it could do for a whole group instead.

Walking over to the mirror and sink in her room, she washed her face off to try and wake up, before looking in the mirror at herself and losing herself in a train of thought. 

I haven't heard of anybody else making it here safely that I know of. For all I know, I'm the only one who landed at this place. Or the only one who's still alive... NO! I can't think that. It could be possible, but there's no way that I'm the only survivor out of millions. ...Right?

Backing away from the mirror and flopping herself back down on the bed, she sighed deeply. 

Well, in any case, it looks as if for now I'm alone here.While these supplies will last me a good long while, living out the rest of my days as a scared child trying to hide from the boogeyman is not exactly an appealing prospect. Still...

She sat up on her bed, and for probably the 50th time in the past few days flicked her wrist, praying for something to appear. Of course nothing did, just like the other 49 times. She didn't truly expect anything to happen, of course, but that didn't make her any less disappointed. 

Would be nice to have that weapon again. Would mean something is going my way for once.

Stifling another of her sighs, she stood up and, after grabbing her sword from the bed stand and securing it to her waist, walked to and straight out of the hotel door. 

Imaginary powerful blade or no, I need allies, and I need them badly if I truly want to survive. Maybe that one blond shopkeeper in the First District could help me out somehow...

So apparently, when I'm bored I take Mary Sue tests now. I put Grace, one of my newer OC's to the test.

I guess I'm doing a good job, then. Or something. The test at times couldn't really apply to her, since the RP that she is in hasn't started quite yet, so. I wouldn't be too surprised if this stuff goes up a few points within a couple of months or so.

While the swaggy glasses remain, the application as a whole is still unsatisfactory. The appearance is rather poor in detail, as it doesn't elaborate beyond "like the picture above but human," which is really not satisfactory at all. The personality is also extremely short, and really doesn't give us a clear view of who exactly he is supposed to be. 

While the backstory is an improvement over last time in terms of length, it is now an unnavigable wall of text that is a slog to simply try to read through. The pacing is also extremely poor and the grammar is sloppy at best.

Since this is your second time getting your app rejected, you need to take a sit out for a few weeks before you can submit another form. We suggest that you look at other RPs here and work on your grammar in the mean time so that next time you might be accepted.

Ponies in any form are *not* allowed, at least as they exist on Equestria. Other anthros, such as something like a beastman, however, would be fine.

Your world is not alone.

Existing in the oft-theorized Realms of Light, the various worlds that make up the whole of existence have been at relative peace for eons, separated from one another by barriers ever since they split apart. Unaware of one-another’s existence, those who live on the worlds are unaware of the greater universe they are part of.

That peace shattered when the Heartless appeared.

Hailing from the Realm of Darkness, the Heartless invaded the worlds and began to greedily consume them, leaving nothing more than a handful of refugees, who would spread throughout the Realm of Light and, if they were lucky, chance upon a new World to live in. But with more worlds being consumed every day, there will soon be no place for life to escape to.

Not all hope is lost, however. King Mickey, of Disney Castle, spends his days seeking out the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of the Heartless’ entrance into the Realm of Light. Perhaps if more is known of the Heartless, the devoured worlds may yet be saved. But even if such a thing were possible, it would take more than one royal mouse to turn the tide of genocide.

Hope lives on in an unlikely world: Traverse Town, known for its sizeable refugee population, may be the new home of several individuals who are capable of changing the tide of battle.

Welcome to Kingdom Hearts: Alt Mix!

This RP is, quite obviously, a Kingdom Hearts-based one, set during the time of the Heartless Invasion in Kingdom Hearts 1. Your characters are refugees from worlds consumed by the Heartless, left with nothing but memories of those places and a desire to fight back. Banding together is the only way to survive and potentially stop the invasion; however, not everything is as simple as it seems on the surface, and there are those who will stop at nothing to make sure that all of the worlds are consumed in darkness.

Rules:

This RP is joint ran by Legendary Emerald and Skyman. These are the rules that have been agreed upon.

General Writing/Posting Rules

• This is an Advanced RP, which means that you will have to put more effort into your posts.

• Time-bending is strictly forbidden. Time-bending refers to the act of ignoring part of a player’s post in order to respond to events that are no longer taking place.

  • For example, if character A says something to you, and then immediately leaves to talk to character B (with both actions taking place in the same post), you cannot respond to character A unless you first recognize that his character has already left and is engaged in conversation with someone else.

  • Time-bending check:  

    • Having your character watch actions that have already taken place, and verbally or internally react to events that have passed in the RP, is not time bending.

    • Having your character interrupt actions that have already taken place, in such a way that they contradict other player’s posts, is time bending.

• You don't have to know that much about Kingdom Hearts to join as it differs significantly from the canon universe, but some basic knowledge would be appreciated. For those who need more information, we direct you to the KH Wiki, or to me - I would be glad to explain anything that you want to know.

• For major, named characters from the Disney worlds or the Final Fantasy characters, it shall be LE and I controlling them. However, for things such as generic townspeople, they are fair game and can be used in the story by anybody to help move the story forward.

• Proper spelling and grammar is expected at all times. Minor typos won’t be punished, since that’s just flat-out draconian, but if you make consistent and moderate to major mistakes, even after we have warned you about your grammar/spelling, then we WILL kick you out of the RP. You have been warned.

• Posts must be, at bare minimum, a full paragraph in length, with two or more being preferred. Stretch your writing muscles, and don’t be afraid to write a over a page in one post if you feel it is necessary to get an idea or action across.

• Due to the slower pace of this RP, rapid posting is going to be limited. After your first post, you will not be able to post again until at least two other players have posted. This will continue for the duration of the RP.

• If it has been one day, however, and only one other person has posted, you may post again.

• Those two rules above may vary depending on the amount of people active in the RP, and so we’ll keep you notified if we decide to change it.

• Speaking of activity, you must post at least once every two weeks. If you have not posted in that time, then your character will be kicked out of the RP and your spot will be vacated for new players. Character guidelines

In addition, please place the following fields in the “Other” portion of your character sheet:

Weapon Type: Note: You CAN in fact have a Keyblade; however, it is NOT required that you do. You can do just fine without one, if you decide that you don’t want one.

Weapon Design: Self-explanatory. Just give the overall design of your weapon; if you can manage it, a picture would suffice instead of a written description

Combat Specialization: Magic, Physical Combat, Defense, Healing, etc. If your character does not necessarily have a specialization, putting down “General” works too. This specialization may change over the course of the RP.

Canon Deviations:

In case you couldn’t tell, we’re going to be doing a few changes from the canon of the actual games. Many supporting cast members from the original game will be present, though perhaps not in the same way. Other cast members might be replaced or have no representation at all. All of this is done to provide the players with a focused storyline that contains plenty of new surprises, rather than being a beat-for-beat retread of the original game’s story.

Man, I've been looking for a decent RP for so long! I'll be more than happy to join this one!! I just got a few questions though, hope I don't annoy you too much with them. :s

 

This'll be a human-only RP, right? If so, I still have to create a human OC. Can it be an already existing character from a game/anime/cartoon, but with different personality and characteristics chosen by me?

 

If I, for instance, choose to have a Pokemon instead of a Keyweapon. Will I start from Twinleaf Town? Can it be any Pokemon as long as it's not legendary and it's in his first form? Do I need to have a Drive Form for it or can I choose not to?

 

English is not my first language, so I may make a few minor grammatical errors. I hope this isn't much of a problem.

For the first one, yes this is human-only, at least at the beginning(due to character development/transformation/what-have-you into Nobodies/Heartless. But that's later).

For the existing character thing...hmm. I guess if you sufficiently change the character's personality and at least some of their appearance, I won't mind you basing your character off of an existing character from some show or whatever. If that makes sense.

You can start with both a Keyweapon AND a Pokemon, although the it'll take a few posts before you get the Keyweapon most likely(this is going to start right before the invasion, so). But yes, you can start with any Pokemon so long as it's not Legendary or a final-evolution. I'm not sure about non-evolving Pokes that aren't Legendaries, but I'll think about it.

Your grammar probably won't be an issue, since it looked like you did fine in that post!

....Oh my that was a big wall of text. Well I would say that a Kingdom Hearts and Pokemon crossover is a weird idea but then I remembered that Kingdom Hearts itself is a Disney and Final Fantasy crossover. Either way I think this would make for a really cool and interesting RP but I have some questions.

 

1. Will this all take place in Sinnoh or will we eventually go to other regions like Unova and Kanto?

2. Should we really involve Team Galactic? They where defeated at the end of Diamond and Pearl, so we would need a reason for them to be back.

3. How long should the average post be? I know you said this is an "Advanced RP" but what does that mean? For example would about a paragraph be enough?

 

Also I know nothing about Kingdom Hearts past the first game and the only reason I know a few things about the first one is because I watched a "Lets Play" on it. I will make my character and post a link to him in a bit, I just need some time to make him.

 

1. That's classified . Seriously though, I have not decided yet and that won't be decided for a while yet, since it really depends on how the plot unfolds for some details like that.

2. Well, this is Alternate Universe, and thus I interpret it as being before the events of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. It's lazy, yes, but it's better than having some half-assed explanation for their return to power.

3. Well, the "Advanced" RP section has a character limit of 800, so there's your minimum. I'll take that, really, however it would be nice if it was longer, as that means more plot developments per post. I am perfectly fine though with just 800 characters, if you can't come up with anything/you feel satisfied with your post.

Actually...this is probably where Jack makes his leave too. It is literally impossible for me to come up with absolutely anything that Jack would have now that Artsy is gone. Her existence was very much so key to him, so really there's...not much left. Almost all of his interactions with other characters were really just with her, with one true interaction occurring when he digitized Serah. Thus, he has nothing, absolutely nothing, so I will simply be leaving the RP I guess. I honestly don't expect things to last much longer, honestly, unless you guys somehow find somebody who can take Arylett's direction and do it very effectively.

EDIT: Actually, this might as well be my unofficial withdrawl from ever joining an RP here again. Beyond the murder mystery by Scootacool, there really aren't that many RP's that interest me here. There was one that was going to be released sometime in the future that I was going to be interested in from Arylett, but, well, she's not here anymore, so. Unless somebody comes up with some really good idea I won't be joining another RP.

Well then. Welcome, Matt! Didn't 100% expect you to join, but it is nice nonetheless. Over here on the left, we have the main section of the forum, where you can discuss about generally anything relating to the show. On the right, you got the art area, with both pony and non-pony artwork displayed, including things such as videos, indie games, music, etc. Down the middle we got the Roleplay section, which is currently very much so active and always wanting more people for RPs, whether they are pony or non-pony related. And I suppose behind us or something(damn you lack of directions!), we have Beyond Equestria, which is non-pony entirely and contains things like forum games, media discussion, and a general non-pony discussion area.
