  1. Clearly you dont know Garnet..

I personally didnt like The Last one out of Beach City. First, i have no problem with Lesbians and what not, what i do have an issue with is forcing it on others. Meaning: Be like Garnet, "it is what it is.", i dont need anyone pushing their sexuality in my face.

But if anything were to happen, i'd like to see Steven and Paridot get together :P

Just out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on depictions of heterosexual relationships in media?

  2. 1. Neon Genesis Evangelion

    2. Paranoia Agent

    3. FLCL

    4. Gunbuster

    5. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

    6. Gurren Lagann

    7. Kill la Kill

    8. Puella Magi Madoka Magica

    9. Serial Experiments Lain

    10. Haibane Renmei

Resurrecting this topic because some loser goaded me into updating my list.

    • Neon Genesis Evangelion
    • FLCL
    • Paranoia Agent
    • The Super Dimension Fortress Macross
    • Shirobako
    • Mawaru Penguindrum
    • K-On!
    • Gunbuster
    • Revolutionary Girl Utena
    • The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Serial Experiments Lain might edge out Haruhi after a rewatch. Maybe.

    I await your judgment DF

  3. I'll second Bjork. She's long been my favorite artist and has been instrumental in shaping my (lack of) musical taste. She started off doing these very likable pop ditties and then took her work in increasingly bizarre directions and it's awesome.

Example: here is a song that sounds like it was performed alongside a chorus of evil mutant frogs. Enjoy.

  4. In rough order:

    1. Shin Gojira

    2. Hail, Caesar!

    3. Silence

    4. The BFG

    5. The Handmaid

    6. Moana

    7. Kubo and the Two Strings

    8. Zootopia

    9. Assassin's Creed

    10. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

That's about it. Maybe Suicide Squad and Deadpool, but comic book movies have an awful track record with me so I'll remain skeptical.

To be honest, I'm almost feeling more hyped for Macross Delta than anything on that list.

  5. It might help to draw a distinction between homophobic actions stemming from ignorance versus homophobic actions stemming from genuine malice. I don't think anyone is claiming that CN UK is evil, but they are acting on the erroneous premise that depictions of homosexual behavior of any kind are inappropriate for children -- a shortsighted notion, and one with sordid roots.

This kind of thing is damaging, whether CN UK intended it or not, and it should be challenged.

  6. Since humanity began the point of relationship was to procreate. Progress as a species requires procreating or the species goes extinct, so not procreating is against the species, or to say slightly inhumane.

Actually, the point of sexual intercourse is procreation, and that can occur independently of a relationship (and vice versa). I'd say the species is populous enough at this point as to be unaffected by the few who choose to partake in relationships without the end goal of making babies. To say it is inhumane is quite a bizarre leap of logic.

  7. Came home to this news yesterday. So surreal. And I'd only just gotten back into his work, after a viewing of his latest theatrical work Lazarus not even ten days ago.

Paying my respects by revisiting everything he's ever done. Low is so rad.

  8. dis art sux stop tryin nerd

Like I said, I'm actually pretty jealous, both because you have a tablet and because you're learning at an alarming speed, having seen your latest piece. I can't wait to see what you produce in the future.

You ought to be proud of yourself.

ew was I BEING SINCERE JUST NOW?????!!!

  9. 2001: A Space Odyssey comes immediately to mind, along with a few other Kubrick movies.

For TV shows, Serial Experiments Lain is a no-brainer. On a storytelling level it's dense and confusing as hell, to the point where the art direction carries it completely.

  10. Found myself overwhelmed by curiosity, so here you go. Doubtless there's more, but many of the live action ones are still airing and I have not caught up with any of it. Zilch.

    In no particular order.

    1. Neon Genesis Evangelion
    2. Paranoia Agent
    3. FLCL
    4. Gunbuster
    5. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
    6. The Super Dimension Fortress Macross
    7. Gurren Lagann
    8. Kill la Kill
    9. Revolutionary Girl Utena
    10. Mawaru Penguindrum
    11. Haibane Renmei
    12. His and Her Circumstances
    13. The Vision of Escaflowne
    14. Cowboy Bebop
    15. Serial Experiments Lain
    16. Puella Magi Madoka Magica
    17. Kaiba
    18. Over the Garden Wall
    19. Steven Universe
    20. Avatar: The Last Airbender
    21. The Legend of Korra
    22. Firefly
    23. Battlestar Galactica
    24. Breaking Bad
    25. The Singing Detective
    26. Pushing Daisies
    27. Wonderfalls
    28. Blackpool
    29. Dollhouse

In other news I have no life.

  11. Well then. Ever since Abrams' hiring I've suspected that this would be little more than a nostalgia parade, and the footage presented thus far has done little to assuage my fears. It all looks very nice, yes, but it also seems to be riding too heavily on OT iconography. I only hope it can establish its own identity.

On a less cynical note, the shot of the downed Star Destroyer is quite beautiful and I still dig the little ball droid.

  12. You know what, I already mentioned my two favorites, but I'm gonna go ahead and do a proper list anyway because there is an important point that must be made.

    1. Pearl

    2. Garnet

    3. Steven

    4. Connie

    5. Greg

That point being that Connie is awesome and isn't mentioned anywhere near often enough. :(

  13. About a year ago I gained some notice as an obnoxious status spammer and member of the so-called "weeaboo clique" that caused some controversy in certain circles. Nowadays I'm an unknown lurker.

Doesn't bother me really. Popularity is a fickle thing that can and will dissipate as soon as you stop putting effort into it. Actively pursuing it is a waste.

  14. Pearl followed by Garnet and Steven for me. I'm afraid Amethyst would be much further down on my own unwritten list. I'd rank several side characters above her.

Anyway, I'm still playing catchup but I'm almost there. Just a few more episodes to go. I'd be watching them right now but I'm taking a break to process that ten minute slice of awesome known as Jail Break. That song killed me.
