November 11th 2018 was the last time I've visited this site. A lot sure has happened since then. My 24th birthday, I graduated with my Associates and currently pursuing my Bachelors, and the unfortunate end of Friendship is Magic (I'll make a separate post about how I feel about that). Can't say if my activity here will be what it was when I first joined, or will I be gone for pretty much another year, but I can only say that I'll be around.

Yeah, after about six months, I'm back.  The reason why I left this place probably still exists, but I'm going to stop it there instead of reopening that can of worms.

So, why am I back? I seriously have no idea. At the time I left, I felt like I got everything out of this site, but yet here I am. What good is there for me coming back, even with me completely losing interest in everything related to the show (maybe that could change)? It could be just me reminiscing on my early Brony days after 5 five years (February 2nd, 2013) or I just want something to look at during the day.

Not sure what else I can say. I'll be around, in the shadows for now. Don't be afraid to hit me up and talk.

Well today marks my fourth year here. The first two years were exciting, the last two, not so much. Not only have I become busy from school and other endeavors, I just grew bored of this place mainly because it feels like I get ignored here, which I already get enough of that from my family at home. It's not that I no longer love the show (I still do), but when your sense of escape no longer works, what are you supposed to do? I mean, I've been inactive for awhile already, so maybe I'll keep it that way.

I really convinced myself to stay, but why should I continue if it's not working?

For the longest, I've always wanted to make a gaming channel on Youtube. I did a little bit of Minecraft Pocket Edition in the past, but it just never fell through, mainly because of my lack of equipment. This idea has come true with my purchase of an Elgato Game Capture, and a higher quality microphone (anything is better than those RockBand mics.)

The name of the channel is AzureBlazeGaming. I've been recording videos in bulk since December, and have recently started uploading them weekly (because of school and what not.) You can check out what I have here, and if possible, please support the channel and subscribe. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv86RJdE-eSxSHjXtS2Vfkg
I'm not expecting anything out of this, I'm just doing it for fun.

The NES we have, wherever it may be, should still work. Can't say the same for the SNES. It definitely has seen better days. It'd probably still work if it wasn't missing the little pin that was in where the AC adapter would go. This would be my justification of getting the SNES mini if and when it comes out.

Ever since I got lost in a maze, I never liked them. I'm also not a fan of confined areas.

So here I am playing Breath of the Wild and there is an Island that is a huge Labyrinth. The walls are massive (I'd say the size of a 10 story building), which is impossible to climb out of with low stamina. Running through the corridors started to build up an anxiety in me, which possibly could have resulted in a panic attack, which is a rare occasion for me. Because of that, I cheated by climbing the walls with stamina elixirs. That's a situation I never want to be in again, because I was going to legit skip that area entirely.

Can you please tell me what is wrong with this.

It didn't come out the way I typed it in notepad, but whenever I try to compile it with Command Prompt, there is an error for every J in JOptionpane in each string, with the error message: Cannot find symbol. This is for my class, and it needs to be submitted by March 6th, so any help would be appreciated.

17 year old me was introduced to a show at the end of 2012. I watched the show, but never said I liked it. It wasn't until this day in 2013 that I gave in and accepted that I liked it and called myself a Brony. That show is obviously My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I joined during the times of Twilicorn (two weeks before the Season 3 finale to be exact), which nearly everyone hated. At the time, I was only on Episode 23 of Season 1, the episode that made up my mind, so I had a lot of watching to do, and I actually caught up in time for the finale. In 2013 I was also introduced to Equestria Girls, which nearly everyone hated again, and Season 4, which is the first season I saw all new, and my favorite season ever. The excitement I had back in 2013 is no longer present, but I still love the show, and the fan created content of the fandom.

First favorite pony was Rainbow Dash, then it became Pinkie Pie, which I previously hated with a passion, (Andrea Libman is great, but Season 1 Pinkie was the worst), with Trixie becoming my favorite alongside Pinkie. I cried at the end of A Canterlot Wedding (tears of joy). Straight out telling my dad I watch the show the following week. That's pretty much everything I can remember of my early days of the fandom. Let's see how this next year turns out.

(First blog of 2017, and I think it's starting out on a high note. I'm also sorry that this is late because I went to this event on Friday.)

I was one of the first to experience the Switch at a private preview tour in New York, and my experience with it was amazing. It's not that heavy in Handheld Mode. Not much of a fan of the Joycon Grip, hopefully it grows on me. I can see myself using the Joycons by themselves a lot. The Joycon horizontally was rather comfortable despite its size.

Here are the games I played and my thoughts about them

    Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
    * Felt no different from the original.
    * Feather from Super Mario Kart for the SNES returns
    Splatoon 2
    * Felt no different from the original
    Arms
    * Very fun, very strategic
    Breath of the Wild
    * The world is "Breath"taking
    Snipperclips
    * Very cute co-op puzzle game Skylanders Imaginators
    * NFC Amiibo reader is in the analog stick on the right joycon.
    Ultra Street Fighter II
    * Goes between classic Street Fighter II on the SNES and a HD Mode which looks great
    Sonic Mania
    * There's a twist on classic Green Hill Zone

Here are a couple of questions that I saw on Facebook, and I tried to answer to the best of my ability.

    Q. If possible can you find out the size of the battery on the switch and the joy cons
    A. The Switch roughly gets 3-6 hours.

    Q. How long will the joy con battery last?
    A. I heard 20 hours, but it could be wrong.

    Q. Are the joy sticks on the joy con comfy? is it easy to control the character and navigate through the world? are they comfy to hold whilst wireless?
    A. The joy sticks were great. I had no problem with them. I'd say they have more travel distance than the Vita.

    Q. Is the switch screen size good for long play hours? (do you find yourself squinting at the screen?)
    A. I think the screen size is fine. I was able to sit back in the chair, and see just fine, but this could vary depending on each person's eyes. The picture remained clear, especially with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

    Q. The buttons themselves seemed small, are they easy to press or do you find yourself accidentally pressing other buttons due to the small space?
    A. I never accidentally hit a button.

    Q. How does it feel? heavy? Light? do you like the size of the switch?
    A. I think it was lighter than the New 3DS XL.

    Q. What is the range of the joycons from the switch?
    A. This is unknown, but when playing Arms, we were about 5-6 feet away.

    Q. Did you find the games to be stable, or did they lag under heavy load?
    A. There was only one occasion when I saw a stutter in TV Mode and it was with Breath of the Wild. Other than that, I did not see lag with the Switch.

    Q. What games did you play and how did they look (tv mode and handeheld mode)
    A. I played Skylanders, Splatoon 2, Sonic Mania, Breath of the Wild, Ultra Street Fighter II, Super BomberMan R, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Arms in TV Mode. I also played Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Skylanders, and Snipperclips in handheld/tabletop mode. They all looked great, even on the small screen.

    Q. Is the kick stand easy to work, and does it seem stable or loose?
    A. The kickstand appeared sturdy.

    Q. How is the OS? Did you like it, easy to navigate?
    A. Didn't get a chance to experience it. It was only the games.

    Q. Is the touchscreen responsive?
    A. Didn't try it out. (Recently heard that this also doesn't work because it was strictly games, but the touchscreen exists.)

That's all I know. I wish I knew more, but the event was only to show off what the system is capable of in it's many modes in various environments (like in a plane, or in a diner.) Personally, I believe it could do well even at launch, since there are unannounced games apparently.

When you try to be a good student by showing up to class early, but the professor has not shown up yet, and it takes another student to point out that there is no class in the syllabus.

Wednesday morning, in a rush to get to my morning class the unexpected happened. For those who live in New York City, you know how terrible the transit system is (and my siblings all ridicule my father for working for them), from the service down to the turnstiles. The turnstiles, sure has caused me a ton of problems throughout the years, but this most recent time was the worst.

As I was swiping my unlimited CUNY Metro Card, the message "Just Used" came up in the reader, but I wasn't given entry. Those that don't know how unlimited Metros work, you're unable to use the card again until about 18 minutes pass. Someone had opened the gate to let me through. As I didn't want to be late for my class, I went through the gate. As I was walking down the platform though, I glanced over my shoulder and saw two police officers on my left side. I was jamming to my music at the time. Right then, I was hoping it wasn't for me, but to my dismay, I was stopped. I was questioned and what not, and later issued a $100 ticket. I was initially pissed, and had a hearing this morning for the violation. I was able to get the violation dismissed where my hearing officer states "The respondent has provided credible evidence that although he went through the exit gate, he did not evade the fare."

As I already stated, I was initially pissed, but later in the day, I was put into a state of shock. Why? Because the main officer that spoke to me was white. The officer did state that I was a good guy, for I had no warrants, but I felt that anything could have happened just by the color of my skin, and the recent shootings of black males, especially the shooting of the unarmed black man a few weeks ago. I did comply with everything that was asked of me, unlike those of color who refuses.

Everybody who knows me knows how much of a good guy I am. I'm super chill, don't bother anyone, and never been in any serious trouble. Trust me, this will stick with me forever (I guess it was a traumatic moment). I know better for next time, and will most likely never happen again.

This game takes place in 2016. There is a level in this game about terror attacks on France in 2016. France just suffered from a terror attack last week, plus one back in November 2015. There's also a mention of "Rising Tension in Europe," and there's a whole bunch of stuff going in with Turkey, and Great Britain leaving the EU. This may sound silly, but are we living the events in this game?

This game is 20 years old today. I'm only 1 year older than the game, but I can fondly remember growing up with this game, being scared of Pianos, and dropping Penguins off the edge of the world (everyone had to have done this.) I've decided to post my top 5 tracks from this game, and please remember that this is just my opinion, and should be treated as such, for someone else's may differ.

    Koopa's Road

Going to take on Bowser in style with this music.

    Dire Dire Docks

Probably the most atmospheric song within the game.

    Bob Bomb Battlefield

It's the first level in the game, which would make the music pretty iconic.

    Inside the Castle Walls

Besides the Title Theme, File Select, and Opening Sequence, it's first song you hear upon entering the castle (besides Bowser's laugh.)

    Title Theme

(unable to get a thumbnail for this one, even with the "media" tags.)
It's just a remixed version of the Overworld theme, as it always is these days, but who didn't spend hours playing with Mario's face.

So yeah, those are my top 5 favorite songs from Super Mario 64.

    So Rick and Morty.

I refused to watch this show for a long time, saying that it didn't look appealing to me of what I saw. But that kinda changed when an episode came on Sunday night. I was seconds away from changing the channel, but I said "what the hell, let's give it a chance," meaning that I've never seen an episode before that point.

So one of the first things that caught my eye was the name Justin Roiland, who did voices for Adventure Time. That started things off on a good note for me. The episode was a reenactment of the Titanic, and a house party thrown by Rick. There were some parts that I actually got a laugh out of, which I didn't expect.

All in all, I found it to be pretty decent. Probably wasn't the best episode to start off with, but hey, there was something about it that resonated with me. Now when will I be able to watch the rest? No idea, because I got a ton of shows in my backlog, but I'm hoping to make it fairly soon (preferably before this new season).

I respect his opinion, but the one thing that always get me is when people decide to bash something without trying it first. There have been reboots that were better than the original. Not just movies receive this hate from their trailers, but video games too, namely Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, or even Metroid: Federation Force. I dismissed Star Wars for a long time, until I actually sat down and watched the movies and fell in love with it (after the new one came out, while waiting for classes to start back in December.) I don't believe the whole feminist/ female cast biz. So what if the main cast is female?

Now will I go see this movie? No, mainly because of funds, but I don't believe the reviews should deter anyone from seeing it bad or not.

  16. Vertigo_95
Ok. I have owned every single piece of hardware Nintendo has produced (except the Game Boy Micro, and Virtual Boy). I went three years without a Wii U, and I think it is about time that I got one, but in the coming months, we will probably start getting news (specifically at E3) about their new console: the NX. This thing will most likely be backwards compatible with the Wii U, with the possibility of dropping backward compatiblity with the Wii. I still have a Wii (that is compatible with Gamecube games), but since it is in the living room, and the TV is always being hogged, it sits there gathering dust, never being used.

Many people say that the Wii U failed. In what way, please explain that to me. I think the Wii U has a great library with games ranging from Super Mario Maker to Super Smash Bros, even games like Splatoon, which should sell it.

That's about it. I would love one considering that it is still current, but again, this could be the year of the NX.
  17. Vertigo_95
Back in early 2013, I had no way of the internet. The Blackberry phone I had was so beat up, that it was unusable. It wouldn't be until about the second week in January that I would receive a white iPod Touch 4th generation, that would make up for the one that was destroyed in October 2012 (around the same time I started watching MLP). I loved this thing so much, and I would end up getting an iPhone 4 a week later. After that, I got everything that would give me access to the internet: laptop, PS Vita, etc.

Now here in 2016, I pretty much have everything that can go online ranging from a Galaxy Tab, and a Windows 10 laptop (both was bought with my own money), and even the iPhone 6s which I got for Christmas last year. I now try to love it, but after being stuck at version 6.1.6 for the last 3 years, and it sitting in my dresser for 3 weeks, I charge it up and use it for 2-3 days, only to go back in my dresser for another 3 weeks, it's clear that I no longer have use in it.

So I'm going to sell it ( not at Gamestop for the first time. I saw that they would take it for $30 and sell it themselves for $100, and I said nope.) Hopefully someone would get usage out of it now like I did 3 years ago.
  18. Vertigo_95
Ok. This theme here has multiple variations, with the first one starting in Castlevania III for the NES with Trevor Belmont (who doesn't love the Belmont clan?) Super Castlevania IV is my favorite game in the series before the Metroidvania kicked in.

This variation doesn't appear until the very last level with another classic: Vampire Killer. You have to avoid this big spiky wheel as you ascend the castle of Dracula .I've died so many times doing it, but it was nice to know that once I did this part, I was only one Boss Rush away from Dracula, and beating the game.

    Why this version?

"Personally I prefer the air." ~Falco. But seriously, I always favored the Super Nintendo over everything else when I was a kid, even the N64 and PS2.
  19. Vertigo_95
As some of you may know, Nintendo announced in their Nintendo Direct a few days ago that they will be releasing Super Nintendo games on the 3DS. One of the main problems people have with this is the fact that it is only for the New 3DS. While I do have both a New 3DS XL, and normal 3DS XL, I find it a bit silly that the older models won't support those games. I was able to play Donkey Kong Country on my older 3DS with a slightly lower frame rate from homebrewing, so I don't see how they wouldn't be able to run, even with the difference of processing power.

One personal problem I have with people downing this is that you are able to play these same games on an emulator. While that may be true, I believe that it doesn't give the feel the game intended to be played. Playing OOT on a keyboard is truly a pain when it comes to aiming the Hookshot, and arrows (somehow I managed to beat the entire game), and using a Bluetooth controller that looks like a cross combination between a PS3 and Xbox controller to play DKC and Mega Man X, it doesn't deliver.

The fact that they colored the buttons on the N3DS to resemble a SNES controller, they should have added this feature to go alongside the release of the handheld.

And then comes this problem. Many people would like to play those games, but are not willing to upgrade just yet. The old 3DS XL that I got for my birthday (which means that I didn't pay for it) is not even 2 years old, but I went ahead and got a new one (mainly for Xenoblade and future titles). I think of this being both good and bad on Nintendo's part because while they are gaining profit for the sales of the N3DS, they are also losing profit for the people who don't want to upgrade just to play these games.

It's a possibility that I went on a tangent towards the end, but this thought was in my head and I needed to address it.

Ponycon 2016 here in Brooklyn, New York is now over. After being on an already emotional high from my graduation which was two days prior of the start, it was very hard to let this go.

    https://mlpforums.com/blog/2179/entry-19271-im-done-im-finally-done-with-this-part-of-life/

I am here to tell you my experiences from the convention, but since I volunteered, I will talk about what I did as a crew member, including the things I did when I was allowed to leave my post.

Day 1: At the beginning, I somehow ended up working registration, which was not my department, but I was just like ok. During that, a woman asked me how long the line was, and I was like "it's really long", and then she started ranting and cursing, and I'm saying in my head "there are children here, please don't curse." She said she wasn't directing it towards me, but it sure felt like it. Later on that day, I met Peter New walking around the vendor hall, and I had the opportunity to speak to him, and I have to say that his personality is just great. Unfortunately, he had to go, and he expected to see me at his autograph signing, which I went to, and we talked some more. What was a high at that moment spiraled quickly once I lost that Smash Tourney in the first round to a girl. That pretty much ruined me for the rest of the day.

    https://mlpforums.com/statuses/user/18640-jrex95/?status_id=714966

Day 2: It had a slow start, but it really kicked off when the "Singing Voices of MLP concert" happened. It was amazing , even when Ingrid Nilson sung that Frozen song, which I don't like. Same thing when Shannon, and Vincent sung that duet from the same movie. It was to be expected that everyone was waiting for Lena Hall to sing the song she sung in that Season 5 episode. Hearing it live was touching. She even sung "Equestria, the Land I Love", which I guess is now the Brony anthem, for that is what she said. Later on that day, I got an autograph from her. She was also nice when I spoke to her. The line was long, and that was to be expected (I bought my voucher a day in advance after missing the opportunity to meet John de Lancie at Bronycon last summer.)

Day 3: I have to say that this was my most busy day. I attended a ton of panels with the ok from the head of my department. They were all back to back up until the closing ceremonies. I have never attended any closing ceremonies (I was in a different department last year, and was unable to leave my post, and I had to leave Bronycon 2015 early, to catch a bus back to New York) so this one was special to me (just remember that there will most likely be a Liberty pony forever stuck in the chandelier thanks to Jim Miller.) Probably the most touching moment for me during the closing ceremonies was when all the yellow shirts (volunteers/crew members) got recognition and called up to the stage (I was the one with the purple sweater for anyone who was there.)

And that's about it. Now there are rumors going around about this being the last one, which I really hope is not true, for I would love to do it again next year, and the years to come.
  21. Vertigo_95
Well there is something I will most likely never see again.

So after two and a half months, I find myself back on the forums. I'm not sure if I can really call it all that great though. Why do I say this? At the time I left back in October, I had a ton of stress built up, mainly from this site, and I felt that me leaving would be a stress reliever, and believe it or not, it worked. After I left I felt alot happier. What did I do though when I did leave? Nothing really. I joined World of Equestria, another forum site, under the name of Vertigo (same picture and all.) I really didn't do much.

Now the reason why I left, (which I believe would be really good.) I feel like there is this big popularity thing on this site, and if you're not popular, there will be no recognition. Although I have been here since 2013, I feel like the latter in a way, so again back in October when I had a ton of stress, and put my feelings into posts in hopes of a reply] there was nothing, which kinda led to the making of this https://mlpforums.com/blog/2179/entry-18401-the-forums-is-not-exempt-from-this/

And in the time before I did leave, I saw a ton of other people leave. Now it may not have been the same reason why they left, but I believe it could be. A person's social status should not dictate the fact that we are all human in the end, but social status will stand until the end of time.

All of what I wrote up above is behind me now (hopefully), but my activity here on the site will be drastically lowered (as if it wasn't low before.) I'm really not sure if I can put in the same commitment as I did in the past. Maybe I'm lying, and will be just as active as I was before. Who knows?

So yeah, I decided to come back in the new year, and I'm glad to be back.

  22. Vertigo_95
It may say Facebook on the picture, but this applies for every social networking site out there, so MLP Forums is not exempt.

There is also another picture about how someone makes an elaborate post with a lot of heart put into it, (*cough* several times), only for it not to be recognized or acknowledged, while someone makes a simplistic post like "butts", and everybody is raving about how awesome of a post it is.
  23. Vertigo_95
So my brother had got Minecraft the other day for the XBOne. He has never played it ever since he got blown up by a creeper a few years ago, and now he's giving it a try again. I didn't know exactly what to tell him, so I told him things just as they were coming up. After a few rough nights with skeletons and creepers, he has successfully completed his first house, and he actually said he likes the game. He hates me though, not because I was laughing at him a majority of the time, but once he quit, and I took over, I was able to get iron tools before the first night even hit without any problems. I guess the next step for him is learning how to mine.
