Yeah, the start is a drag on for awhile, but it gets much better.

Might do the same. Been meaning to start reading fics

Here's how it usually works for me:

1. Someone recommends a book

2. I start reading it

3. It's crap

4. I tell them it's crap

5. They tell me it's much better once the story takes off

6. I keep reading until I'm about halfway through

7. It's still crap

8. I tell them it's still crap

9. They say you have to finish it to appreciate it

10. I finish it

11. The whole experience was crap
