  1. I wish I made more of my time meeting all you fine folks in person. But I'm an asocial loner type who likes to keep busy and there was so much to do and so little vacation days do it. But I am glad for the time I did get. All of us forums folk going to our breakfast get together. Meeting up by the fountains for our group shot. Sitting through the cosplay fashion show (you still owe us, Jeric). Raiding a packed Chic-Fill-A for dinner, then walking past an empty Subway en route to the Lord Baltimore to commandeer one of the lobbies and watch the latest and uncensored cut of Ponies: The Anthology followed by The Perfect Pair, then walking back top the convention for more panels. All with my forum friends.

I don't get to do things with others that often. Circumstances got to be just right. And I'll treasure what I did get to experience last year.

I remember. You, Jeric and myself had breakfast during the meet up. Sorry for kinda shutting down and going ultra-introvert. Kinda happens in busy places like a packed restaurant. But you were a pleasant conversation to have nonetheless and I never thought I'd get to talk forum things with fellow staffers IRL. Through that little convo, positive changes were made to the site that still stand a year later. I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one the convention made a difference to.

As a California boi, I definitely agree with said state being at le bottom.

There are VERY few things I like about the state.

Most of the family I have down there are thinking of moving out. They disagree with the politics and the cost of living.

Real estate is so pricey that my grandma can sell her beat up old house and make enough to move up here and buy a new one outright.

  3. I'd say go for it. It'll be a long time before they come back. They're known for putting on elaborate performances, so either way you'll be in for a spectacle. Maybe check and see who the support acts are? See if they can sway you?

Good point. However, Twilight is still rejecting the EEA's claim to authority over all Equestrian schools, which I think "bypasses" them in an important sense. As a Princess, Twilight gave herself the right to open a school outside of the EEA's jurisdiction. To use an analogy, imagine the President going to Congress with a request, having it denied, and then using an executive order to make their own institution which carries out the request and answers only to the President.

    Not quite an accurate example.

Twilight didn't use her rank to usurp Neighsay. Anyone can build a school and reject EEA guidelines. They'll just face a lack of acceptance and resources operating outside of a widely accepted social institution.

It's more akin to printing your own type of currency. You can do it, but the majority of institutions won't accept it. Value will exist only from those who choose to value it. And that's the case with Twi. She's making a new school with no institutional recognition, backing or acceptance, but value is still placed on it thanks to the endorsement of the international community. The only thing Twi's rank does change is the resources she has in making her school a viable alternative and competitor to other EEA schools.

  5. I don't see it as bypassing bureaucracy as creating an alternative. Twilight didn't use her clout to grant her school EEA approval over Neighsay. She created her own system outside the EEA. It's not just her right as a princess. Anyone can choose to operate outside any established system and create their own standards. It was more a move of independent action rather than authority.

  6. It's never easy, loosing a loved one. I've had to go through it a number of times. But the pain of loss, is worth each day of love, comfort, loyalty and kindness they've shared with us.

You've made her 13 years the best she's ever had. Never forget the good you've done. You made a huge difference in her life.

It wasn't as bad as it could've been (thankfully, he was still entertaining AF), but it was still a shame.

Antagonists in MLP either still remain villains and pay the price or eventually learn their lessons. At the end of Putting Your Hoof Down, Iron Will seemed to learn his lesson and become better from it. But in OUAZ, he regresses back to villainous tendencies.

This could've been done with anyone else, like Flim & Flam or Filthy Rich. Instead, they made Iron Will seem like he learned nothing. And got away with it too. An odd choice by the writers.
