  1. You know, why do viruses always have to have negative effects? Why can’t they instead offer enhancements and boosts that would be welcomed by hosts? That way their spread would be encouraged instead of attempting to be destroyed :maud: . Like I’d like to be able to walk faster or jump higher :wacko: .

      Viruses are in it to spread themselves and hijack cells into helping them spread, ultimately killing those cells.  Viruses wouldn't get a chance to evolve if they didn't do that, and killing their host's cells is generally not beneficial to the host.

      That being said, if a virus infects bacteria that are, in turn, infecting a human, then those viruses could be beneficial to the host's host, if you see what I mean :)
