Paint.net is what i use. I like it. I couldn't figure out how to use GIMP

GIMP is a lot more complicated.

You could always get ambitious and expand your sig-making stuff you started doing, and make a banner? Who knows, maybe nobody has submitted a Hearth's Warming Eve banner because they've all assumed somebody else was going to do one.

One thing I'd recommend is maybe use the blonde hair coloring from Derpy from the typeface. Either the fill color or the stroke.

Very well done. However I would change the color of the text.

Try darkening the font more, because the yellow font blends in on the yellow background.

If they're creating vectors I think bases are fine. There's a line that should be drawn though. Putting extreme amounts of effort into vectoring and taking credit for what you've done is alright by me. Just they should be sure to say what they actually did themselves. I love seeing all types of art whether it's done with bases, paints, watercolors or whatever. I'd personally rather draw things out myself though. I feel like I gain more skill doing it that way.
