    My friend was going to try MLP today, but he wached cupcakes before he started. It made him cry, and now he doesn't want to watch the show cause he'll be reminded. What do I tell him?

      You need to tell him to give one, just one episode a try. The internet is full of things that do not at all reflect the content they're based off of, and everyone who uses it needs to know that.

      You could also go to the source, and show him plenty of adorable Pinkie and Dash art.

       

      Or, show him alternatives to Cupcakes. Like 'Cupcakes' by Rainbow Dash Presents on Youtube. Try that. It's funny, mocks Cupcakes in a funny but non-offensive way, and will definitely lesson the sour impression he's been given.
