Hello everypony! I'm new to this site so I'm not sure if this is the place to post partial works or if it should go in the resources forum, so please correct me if necessary. This is something I put together today and I'd love some input. I'm still getting accustomed to modern songwriting, so tips are appreciated. My DAW is REAPER and I used a Roland Fantom XR for all of the sounds in this. Again this is an incomplete work, but if I get some ears on it I may be more likely to actually finish something. ;;; Any feedback or ponifying suggestions are welcome! I hope you enjoy! Castle.mp3 - Bravo! Love all the variety in themes! The only feedback I have is that the snare feels a bit clumsy in the themes at 0:27 and 1:34. I can't say it's wrong; that's just my impression. Old area.mp3 - Not as catchy as "Castle", but still quality work! 0:34-0:51 Loses the groove a bit. I think you could find add another voice to stick in there. The re-iteration at 1:51-2:08 is okay though, perhaps because it's later in the song and has a more established groove. Hope that helps!

All kinds! I play a lot of classical ever since I picked up cello, but I write everything from jazz to techno to orchestral. My recent bits have been techno-rock and dance, but it's been a bit rough as I get used to modern music-writing. For listening, I'm very into J-Pop, jazz, rock, and Bollywood. And yes, software engineering totally rocks as a profession. I didn't get started till I was already in college; never too late to learn!
