I feel like it's only natural that as the fandom got larger, bronies started to be more hypocritical, ignorant of the lessons, etc. As more people joined the fandom, more TYPES of people were introduced: some having the morals of the show fly over their heads, some choosing to ignore it because it was stupid, etc.
I can't speak from experience, but I honestly believe that the fandom was truer to the show's morals when it was smaller/new. I believe there's many people that do still take the lessons to heart, but they're outnumbered by the vast majority of others who well... don't.
Personally, I haven't been taking the lessons to heart too well. I'm pretty prone to anger, but I have been working on it and I can say I've gotten better. I've done some thinking about how I act and it's pretty awful sometimes, and I really do want to learn from this show. Everybody could use a reminder on how to be a good person in general, which is why I love the lessons.
