Your title is insanely misleading and wrong on so many levels.
It's pretty clear that the problem you're having is 100% due to the people who PLAY video games. In this case, the games aren't the problem- it's the way people react to them that creates the issue. Yes, it's no secret that communities behind some games are inherently toxic, but that is, in no way, the fault of the game. If you don't like the way people treat you in online lobbies, queue up with some friends and enjoy the game as it was meant to be played. Nobody is forcing you to take shit from some random guys online who get overly competitive, and there's so much more you can do to avoid it (find friends, mute and report toxic players, take a break and play a different game) rather than venting on a forum and making a claim that's entirely wrong.
In conclusion, video games and people definitely mix, because the game provides the person with entertainment and enjoyment.
PEOPLE and people don't necessarily mix, and that's where your problem lies. It takes time to realize that people online can be complete shitholes, and the faster you can accept that and forget about them, the better your online gaming experience will be.
